WASHINGTON -- Two Washington Post journalists are apologizing and their satirical online video series has been canceled following criticism of a joke they told about Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. Post Executive Editor Marcus Brauchli killed the "Mouthpiece Theater" series Wednesday after pulling the latest episode from the paper's Web site Friday. In the video, columnist Dana Milbank and White House correspondent and blogger Chris Cillizza appeared in smoking jackets to discuss the kinds of beer politicians might drink. Milbank said he couldn't reveal to whom President Barack Obama would serve a drink called "Mad B---- Beer." That line...

BELLEVILLE, Ill. - With a revoked license because of a previous drunken-driving conviction, Dennis Cretton shouldn't drive. But authorities in southwestern Illinois say that didn't stop the 49-year-old Belleville-area man from drunkenly driving up to a gas station for more beer -- on his yellow riding lawnmower. When deputies tried to stop him, authorities say Bretton drove the mower into his home's front yard, his 12-pack of Milwaukee's Best spilling onto the ground along the way.

Readers on the left will be shocked, if not incredulous, to learn that neither I nor any conservative I know realized why the president asked Vice President Joseph Biden to join him, Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr., and Cambridge police Sgt. James Crowley for their fabled “beer summit” at the White House. I had simply assumed that the president invited Biden in order to lessen any tension by having someone with no connection to the case join the meeting. Likewise, another conservative, the producer of my radio show, Allen Estrin, assumed that the vice president was in the area...

Clearly, the White House hoped Obama’s beery bonhomie would induce all of us to put on beer goggles and continue to view him as post-racial. For Crowley and Gates, however, it was an invitation they could not refuse. While Obama and Biden – in shirt sleeves, dressed down to come off as a regular guys – offered their guests a beer, they apparently did not invite the two men to take off the jackets and loosen ties they wore out of deference to the office of the presidency. Just another phony photo op.

Beer summit sparks fight between MADD and alcohol lobby @ 2:37 pm by Eric Zimmermann President Obama's beer summit might have created a media frenzy, but not everyone was excited about the message it sent about drinking. Placing alcohol at the center of a political firestorm has sparked a war of words between Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and the pro-alcohol lobby. Nancy Raynor, the President of the Delaware chapter of MADD, told radio station WDEL this weekend that the beer summit may send an inappropriate signal to young people. "It's a well known fact that young people tend to...

CHILMARK, Mass. — A black Harvard scholar said Sunday he has been able to joke about his arrest by a white police officer that led to a national debate on race, but he also has received death threats and bomb threats. In his first public appearance since meeting with Cambridge police Sgt. James Crowley at the White House, Henry Louis Gates said he and the officer found some humor in the incident and have since discussed going out to eat or taking in a Boston Red Sox or Celtics game.

I was out of town last week, away from TV and- mostly – radio. As a result, I missed most of the commentary on the “Beer Summit.™” Conceptually, this sort of thing seems wildly unreal to me. It may be the sort of thing that a rock star President would do as a PR stunt, but it’s such a phony photo op that it makes my skin crawl. Before Barack Obama was a United States senator and a presidential hopeful, he was a Harvard University law student living in Somerville who parked in bus stops and accumulated hundreds of dollars in parking tickets. Just embarrassing. That's the best way to describe President Obama's "Beer Summit", scheduled today at the White House picnic table between Obama, Professor Gates, and Sgt. Crowley. It is just a nauseating display of how low Obama will go to cover and deflect what has become an exercise in poor judgment, when he belched up his un-informed opinion that the Cambridge PD had "acted stupidly" in its actions toward Mr. Gates. The upcoming White House meeting with Henry Louis Gates, Jr., and the Cambridge police officer who arrested him earlier this month appears to have touched off a fresh debate all on its own: what kind of beer should be served? Earlier this week the White House indicated each man would drink the beer of their choice — Bud Light for President Obama, Blue Moon for the police officer, and perhaps Red Stripe or Beck's for Gates. But one Massachusetts congressman thinks another beer entirely should be served: Boston's own Sam Adams. In a letter to Obama dated Wednesday, Massachusetts Rep....

I read E.J. Dionne's editorial today about how we as a nation need to stop all the racial score-settling. I found it very interesting that it was Henry Gates himself who once warned about:"...a discourse in which everyone speaks of payback and nobody is paid," and concluded that "the result is that race politics becomes a court of the imagination wherein blacks seek to punish whites for their misdeeds and whites seek to punish blacks for theirs, and an infinite regress of score-settling ensues."Makes me wish that he had listened to his own advice, because I don't think a round...

Just like 50 is the new 40, beer is the new wine. Pair it with all types of foods, describing them sometimes in manners complex, sometimes simply. Both fermented and crafted by artisans in their own right, beer and cheese have walked hand in hand for centuries. Breweries and dairies historically used similar equipment in different seasons to be most efficient. Combine them classically. Good cheese is a perfect partner for a good beer. Seek the best of both worlds; it’s well worth it. Cheap cheese and cheap beer can ruin an otherwise-great day. How to pair beer and cheese?...

Beer lovers across Britain will be raising a glass to the latest research on drinking. For scientists have discovered that the so-called 'beer belly' is not caused by consuming alcohol – but more to do with genetics. A study of thousands of beer drinkers found that although people who drink regularly are more likely to put on weight, they do not necessarily accumulate fat around the abdomen. Researchers monitored more than 20,000 people – 7,876 men and 12,749 women – over an average of eight-and-a-half years.

Please view the link below; enter a birth date and watch Anthem V1 & V2. http://cervezatecate.com/ Why in the HELL is the RNC not all over this demographic with commercials like this. Hispanics/Mexicans, whomever are ardent conservatives and the RNC has not reached them. These ads run during Friday Night Fights on ESPN. Large waves of southern immigration are changing our politics, and most Republicans believe the most effective way to reach them- which we know doesn't work- is to reward lawbreakers with citizenship and hope for the best. And please don't call us racists or we're gonna cry and...

CORONA Extra was yesterday voted the world's favourite beer in a poll of more than two million Facebook users. The Mexican-brewed lager - usually served with a segment of lime - topped the list with more than 645,000 votes. It easily beat Dutch favourite Heineken, which received 594,475 votes, and Ireland's Guinness which came third with 396,276. The independent poll was launched by the social networking site. Chris Lewis, director of Corona's British distributor Wells and Young's, said: "It is a premium beer and deserves to be the Facebook favourite as it is among the world's biggest selling beer brands."...

I don't drink alcoholic beverages, so I don't know about this subject, but I figure somebody here might have an answer about this. Back in 2003-04, my mother received a mess of "exotic" beers as a monthly subscription from my cousin. She never ended up consuming but a handful of them, and the rest have remained sealed up in the boxes they were shipped in. Unlike other alcoholic beverages, such as wine, that can last for years sealed, I don't know what the longevity is for beer. So my question is, is this still something that can be consumed after...

Beer-sodden fans and rain combined for an ugly finish to a long day of golf yesterday, with Tiger Woods and other golfers subjected to drunken heckling as the action at Bethpage Black came to a close. At 6:42 p.m., dozens of drunken spectators at Hole 10 taunted Woods as he prepared to start his third round in the rain. "We're on Long Island, baby, where men are men!" one fan yelled. "Put that umbrella down!" The taunts were mixed with cheers from the majority of the crowd. Woods did not respond to the people who were heckling him but tried...

Bottles of beer will be given to fathers who attend church, in an alternative "blessing" for Father's Day. A senior bishop has backed the move, which is part of a Church of England initiative to put a Christian emphasis on the annual celebration of fatherhood. Concerns over the lack of men attending services year-round has led clergy to offer a range of incentives today, including free beer, bacon rolls and chocolate bars. It is the first time that the Church has attempted to treat Fathers' Day in the same way as Mothering Sunday, which has traditionally formed part of its...
