A Pew Research Center survey released January 11 shows that police officers support protecting citizens’ gun rights over passing more gun control by a margin of 3 to 1. The survey also shows that two out of three officers oppose an “assault weapons” ban.

We covered the attempted robbery of a Georgia store just after Christmas. It didn’t go so well for one of the robbers, who was killed at the scene. The other fled. A state senator in Florida is sponsoring a handful of gun control bills, citing last week’s airport shooting as a reason to introduce at least one of the measures. State Sen. Representative Thomas Massie, (R) KY, has re-introduced a bill to repeal the Gun-Free School Zones Act (GFSZA) of 1990 and its amendments.  It was found unconstitutional in 1995 in U.S. v Lopez. Then it was passed again, slightly modified, under pressure of the President Bill Clinton and the establishment media in 1996. Donald Trump has pledged to eliminate Gun Free Zones, but he will need Congressional help for the GFSZA.  The bill is numbered HR 34 for the 2017-18 Congress. An armed robber was killed on camera as he tried to hold up a gun store by its 64-year-old owner. Surveillance footage at Dixie Gun and Pawn in Mableton, Georgia, showed the moment the would-be criminal and an accomplice stormed into the store dressed in ski masks. They aimed their guns towards an employee who held his hands up in a plea for mercy before store owner Jimmy Groover opened fire. Two armed men chose the wrong place to attempt a robbery Monday morning, when an employee at the Cobb County gun shop confronted them and shot one dead at the scene, Cobb County police said. The two men entered Dixie Gun and Pawn at 11 a.m. and attempted to rob the business. A store employee happened to be armed and exchanged gunfire with the men, striking one of them. DUNDALK, Maryland (AP/Meredith) - A man who got upset when his wife took a bite of his grilled cheese sandwich opened fire inside his home and sparked an hours-long standoff with police, according to authorities. Baltimore County police worked to diffuse the bizarre situation Sunday night.
