An 8-year-old St. Louis boy went to school and told an office worker he had been shot, after his mother exchanged gunfire with a man who tried to force his way into a home, police said Tuesday. Both mother and child were hospitalized in stable condition as police searched for a suspect in the shooting, the latest of several that have plagued St. Louis over the past 13 months. …

If you have not yet seen Bill Whittle's video "Number One With a Gun," you should. It is as succinct a rebuttal to anything the gun-control freaks can come up with as you will find.

Over a year ago we brought you the story of Mr. Filippidis and his family, a Florida Driver who was pulled over by law enforcement in Maryland. The traffic stop would have been typical except for the fact the responding officer demanded, at random, Mr. Filippidis’s firearm. Mr. Filippidis did not have his legally owned -CCW permitted- hand gun, it was home in Florida. Nor did Mr. Filippidis ever say he had a firearm – yet the officer was insistent Mr. Filippidis owned one, handcuffed Mr. Filippidis, and strip searched his vehicle on the side of the road. Numerous Maryland...

... Tragically, a record number of Americans subscribe to some version of this mythology, with 63 percent (67 percent of men polled and 58 percent of women) believing that guns truly do make them safer. The public’s confidence in firearms, however, is woefully misguided: The evidence overwhelmingly shows that guns leave everybody less safe, including their owners. ... That is, in the absence of guns, would-be criminals are not switching to knives or some other weapons to carry out homicide. These results are supported by a host of previous studies that illustrate that guns increase the rate of homicides. The...

Two bills filed in the Mississippi House and Senate would make it an express duty of the state government to protect the gun rights of Mississippians against federal gun control measures. House Bill 1297 (HB1297) was filed by Rep. Staples last week. It declares “All federal acts, laws, orders, rules or regulations regarding firearms are a violation of the Second Amendment.” In other words, as the Founders understood, the federal government has no authority over firearms, period. The bill goes on to declare that all such federal acts are “invalid in this state, shall not be recognized by this state,...

Congressmember Lois Capps thought President Barack Obama had lingered longer than usual on the House floor after his sixth State of the Union address Tuesday night. She said she felt like a “groupie.” “I had an opportunity to shake his hand and tell him how proud of him I was,” she said. “Then I turned around, and he was still there.” Most importantly, Capps had the opportunity to give Obama a photograph of Christopher Michaels-Martinez as a young boy. Michaels-Martinez was a bright UCSB student gunned down last May in the Isla Vista massacre perpetrated by a mentally ill City...

TAMPA — At first, Dawn Bryan blamed the goat on the back porch. She figured the repeated “thunks” she heard was the animal hopping onto and off the picnic table. The noise continued and she went outside to investigate. Just then, she said, a window next to her shattered. That, she thought, was not the goat. Rather, according to Bryan and a Hillsborough County sheriff’s report, it was a neighbor and a buddy of his firing an AK 47 rifle in a back yard that abuts Bryan’s property on Porter Road in Lithia. The neighbor, Scott Radford, is a Hillsborough...

The rifle is built to replicate the original in look, feel, and heft. The heart of the design is a .22 caliber receiver based on the design of the Ruger 10/22, but made of steel, not aluminum. The receiver is housed in a stock and hand guards made from real American Walnut.

Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s (D-VA) gun control package has righteously gone down in flames (again) when a Virginia State Senate committee decided to vote them down. One of them sought to institute the one-a-month handgun law, which former Gov. Bob McDonnell (R-VA) repealed in 2012. Up until that point, it was state law since 1993 (via WaPo):

Richard Davis, in short sleeves, at the Shot Show, Las Vegas, 2015 At the Shot Show this year, I was working away in the media room. Media are given a room and special access at the Shot Show, as they are most places. A guard at the door insures that only the privileged are allowed inside. (The management also provides free food.) I was chatting with Destinee of FateofDestinee fame when I got the call. Richard Davis was at the shot Show and willing to talk! Richard Davis is legendary to gun culture people born before 1960. He has...

A former CBS investigative reporter who has filed a $35 million lawsuit against the Obama administration for hacking will be among the witnesses at a hearing on President Obama's attorney general nominee. Sharyl Attkisson has accused the Obama administration of breaking into her computer and phone after she reported stories that were critical of the administration, such as the events surrounding the 2012 attack on an American compound in Benghazi, Libya, and the failed “Fast and Furious” operation. She told her story in the book "Stonewalled." She will testify during this week’s Senate Judiciary Committee hearing for Loretta Lynch, Obama’s...

The Texas Legislature convened for its 2015 Regular Session on January 13. Dozens of pro-Second Amendment measures were either pre-filed or have been introduced in recent weeks, along with a handful of sweeping gun control bills. The filing deadline for legislation is not until March 13, and NRA-ILA anticipates that many more firearm- and hunting-related bills, both good and bad, will materialize between now and then. Contact information for state Senators can be found at www.senate.state.tx.us and for House members at www.house.state.tx.us. A list of Senate Committees was released late Friday and the House is still organizing itself, so the...

Commenting on revelations about Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and Department of Justice (DOJ) actions in the case of retired agent Jay Dobyns against his former employer, attorney David Hardy equated them with “a BATF and DOJ Watergate... or worse,” Friday. Noting that actions taken over a civil lawsuit evidently have included concealing evidence, secret threats against witnesses, and surveillance of attorneys and witnesses, the new information lends further credence to Dobyns’ allegations and appears to show government lawyers engaged in a criminal conspiracy. “For people like me, who have sympathized with Dobyns but tried to reserve...

The polarizing topic of gun control in the U.S. is once again in the national and world spotlight as gun manufacturer PARA USA calls for a boycott of the film Taken 3. The film’s lead actor, Liam Neeson, told a reporter last week that he felt there were too many guns in America. During the interview he added, “Every week now we’re picking up a newspaper and seeing ‘Yet another few kids have been killed in schools.’” While the debate over the constitutionality of gun control laws rages, Neeson’s comment exemplifies the critical view of the rest of the world...

Last week, President Obama omitted mention of gun control in a State of the Union address for the first time since 2012. Politically, that decision might make sense. In the past year, the United States suffered fewer widely-covered massacres involving firearms, and politicians may have been less inclined to pursue gun control for this reason. The recent shooting at Brigham & Women’s Hospital and the recent increase in Boston's gun homicide rate the homicide rate, however, highlight the fact that restricting access to firearms remains a significant public safety issue both locally and nationwide

A man protesting Fox News shot himself in the chest and was critically injured Monday outside of the News Corp. building in midtown, authorities and sources said. The man, who was not identified, was found just before 9 a.m. sitting slumped outside of the building on Sixth Avenue and West 47th Street, cops and witnesses said. Police at the scene said that the man apparently shot himself with a small-caliber pistol, which was found on the ground next to him. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition, cops said. Prior to the shooting, the man was heard protesting...

Gunpowder is bullet-proof preventative medicine for American physicians. Every doctor should have the option to carry concealed in clinics and hospitals. A 55-year-old man named Stephen Pasceri walked into Boston’s Brigham and Woman’s Hospital last Tuesday and asked for renowned cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Michael Davidson. When the surgeon appeared, Pasceri pulled out a .40-caliber pistol and hit the surgeon twice before turning the gun on himself. Dr. Davidson was rushed to the emergency room and operated on but the gunshot wounds proved fatal. His pregnant wife – also a surgeon – was left to mourn the death of her loving...

There is a serious threat to our right to bear arms because of narrow, monolithic and federally-controlled manufacture of essential ammunition components, smokeless powder (propellant), primers and cartridge brass. For example, there are only two manufacturers of smokeless powder in the U.S., one plant owned by defense contractor General Dynamics and another owned by defense contractor Alliant Systems (ATK). All other smokeless powder used in the U.S. is imported, and subject to immediate and arbitrary import restrictions. And, General Dynamics and Alliant Systems are subject to a standard condition of military contracts that 100% of their production may be commandeered...

The 7th Circuit federal court of appeals will hear a case against a local ban on some common rifles, handguns, shotguns, and magazines. The city of Highland Park, notorious for its anti-second amendment laws, passed an ordinance that requires residents to turn in, modify or remove the banned items from the city. Ordinance 136(pdf) deals with "Assault Weapons". The ordinance includes very broad boilerplate language. Some claim that the ordinance was lifted from the City of Chicago. The definitions are broad and cover most semi-automatic rifles, and a fair number of pistols and shotguns. Highland Park has a...
