Target [TGT -0.03%]. Chipotle. Sonic. Chili’s Grill & Bar. Jack in the Box. Starbucks [SBUX -0.25%]. Each time gun safety groups Moms Demand Action and new partner Everytown For Gun Safety have taken on a retail or restaurant chain in recent months, they’ve been successful. The pattern generally goes thusly: the groups, led by mother-of-five Shannon Watts and bolstered by $50 million from Michael Bloomberg, start a petition...

Ads saying “guns save lives” have begun appearing again this month at Phoenix bus stops after being the subject of a four-year battle between city officials and a local activist, the Arizona Republic reported. The ads for a gun-safety training website overseen by gun-rights advocate Alan Korwin have been placed at bus shelters this month in downtown and northeast Phoenix. …

Suspect Jaime Lewis When you are an elderly woman, you are likely to have more leeway in how you interact with criminals. It is partly a matter of being more vulnerable; and partly a matter of the statistics reinforcing the stereotype that women are less aggressive than men. In Georgia, a 73-Year-Old woman shot an intruder through her bedroom door, after he had broken into the house. The woman heard the doorbell ring a little before 10 pm, but did not answer. She saw a truck parked in the middle of an intersection, and called 911. From ajc.com:...

A thug armed with a pellet gun fired at a jogger in Central Park late Monday and is now being sought by police. The victim, 36, told police she was jogging near midnight in the far southern end of the park, on the West Drive near West 60th Street, when a pellet hit her in the back of the head. She turned and saw a group of five people — three men and two women — “laughing and making anti-white statements,” the police said.

  • Was the Aurora theater shooting “foreseeable” by owners?

"The owner of the Aurora movie theater that was the site of a deadly 2012 attack could have reasonably enough foreseen the danger of such an attack to be held liable for it, a federal judge ruled Friday." "Noting “the grim history of mass shootings and mass killings that have occurred in more recent times,” U.S. District Court Judge R. Brooke Jackson ruled that Cinemark — owner of the Century Aurora 16 theater — could have predicted that movie patrons might be targeted for an attack. Jackson’s ruling allows 20 lawsuits filed by survivors of the attack or relatives of...

Jeffrey C. Barton The man who fired a shotgun in the air to scare off car burglars, following Vice President Joe Biden's advice, has had the charge involved with the shooting dropped, according to the Columbian: A person, even in a no-shooting zone, still has the right to defend their person or their property,” Golik said. “In this case, based on the facts, there is a reasonable argument that Mr. Barton may have been defending his person and property when he fired in the air. Jeffrey C. Barton has an NRA supplied attorney, and says that a threat of...

The PJ Tatler Eric Holder’s Soros-Sponsored Police Sensitivity ‘Training’ Your money went to the radical Institute on Race and Justice. J. Christian Adams August 21, 2014 The vice president’s Boeing 757 delivered Eric Holder to St. Louis yesterday. In Ferguson, Holder announced that he was “a black man” and therefore had the power to heal Ferguson in ways that no other law enforcement official could. Yet his comments were sure to throw gasoline on fire burning hot with racial division. That shouldn’t shock anyone. It’s the community organizing model of running the Justice Department. What is shocking is who is...

Over the past two weeks, Americans have been transfixed and horrified by the surreal images of police donning camouflage and gas masks and pointing sniper rifles at unarmed demonstrators in Ferguson, Mo. Why have police departments become so enamored with tools more associated with war than with walking the beat? One answer is receiving precious little attention: America’s gun culture. America is a nation awash in firearms. It’s simply impossible to talk incisively about what’s happening in Ferguson without talking about guns and the ease with which ordinary citizens and criminals can get access to them. Police today are much...
  • Violent Crime, Not Police Abuse, Is The Real Threat To Black Americans

Yesterday’s “Nationwide Day of Rage for Ferguson,” demonstrations that were planned to protest police violence against blacks for the 51 cities across the U.S., was a bust. Is it possible that most blacks believe that violent crime, not the threat of police, is the real danger that threatens black Americans, particularly young black males? The high point of protests was a mere 40 people showing up outside the White House. Some 20 to 30 people showed up in cities such as Boston, Denver, and Des Moines. In places such as St. Louis and Oakland, virtually no one seemed to turn...

As people on both sides of the debate regarding open carry—the practice of carrying firearms in plain view—have been turning up the heat, more companies are being forced to take a side. Gun-rights advocates see the practice as a way to normalize gun ownership and deter crime, while gun-control activists believe carrying guns in stores and restaurants is disruptive to the public and encourages violence. Recently, Target, Starbucks and Chipotle have asked their patrons not to bring their guns. After petitions by gun-control groups such as Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, Kroger said it would uphold local...

Clark County's prosecutor said Tuesday he will dismiss a firearms-related charge against a Vancouver man who said he was merely taking Vice President Joe Biden's advice on how to defend his property from car prowlers. Instead, the man will be prosecuted for obstructing a police officer. Jeffrey C. Barton, 53, made international news when he told journalists: "I did what Joe Biden told me to do. I went outside and fired my shotgun in the air.

We are on a bad path and we need to stop before it goes too far. Our government agencies have become rogue governments-within-a-government, they are now arming themselves and our domestic police forces. At the same time, Mr. Obama is decimating the military. The Business Insider reported that …we produce so much military equipment that inventories of military robots, M-16 assault rifles, helicopters, armored vehicles, and grenade launchers eventually start to pile up and it turns out a lot of these weapons are going straight to American police forces to be used against US citizens. The program Paul is talking...

Rep. Mike Honda, (D-CA), has submitted a bill to the U.S. House that would prohibit the sale, use or possession of what he terms military-grade body armor. Honda reasons that this measure would aid law enforcement in taking out an active shooter, since the active shooter wouldn’t be able to obtain body armor. “There is no reason this type of armor, which is designed for warfare, should be available in our communities except for those who need it, like law enforcement,” Honda said in a statement last week. “There’s nothing more dangerous than what a well-armored, unstoppable active shooter can...

In a previous article I wrote about the improper signage at the Meteor Crater rest stop in Arizona. At the first stop, I failed to obtain a picture. The rest stop is a member of a pair of rest stops as is often seen; one on each side of the freeway. On the return trip, I stopped at the sister rest area to see if it had the bad signage as well. It did. The sign appeared to be identical with the sign that I recalled on the South side of I-40. Note the location of the prohibition on...

DES MOINES, Iowa —Police and protesters have clashed for more than a week in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson, Missouri. Local filmmaker Justin Norman captured dozens of images and video of the conflict to document the tense situation. Norman said it didn’t take long to witness a physical dispute on a street corner. “Before a half-hour of being there, I saw this woman forced to the ground, handcuffed and put in the back of a police car, arrested for standing and holding a sign,” Norman said. The distance between Des Moines and Ferguson is about 340 miles, but Norman...

Submitted by Simon Black via Sovereign Man blog, By the late 1920s, Joseph Stalin became the unchallenged leader of the Soviet Union after having eliminated his opposition. He topped it off in 1929 by serving a decisive blow to anyone that would dare to oppose him by outlawing private gun ownership in the country. From that year on until 1953 when Stalin died, it’s estimated that more than 20 million Soviet citizens that were seen as a threat to the country’s leadership. People were rounded up and either murdered outright, or sent to infamous gulag labor camps. Stalin is an...

Via our colleagues at Twitchy, here’s a demonstration of why the national media is so bad at covering Second Amendment issues. CNN’s Don Lemon is normally not a bad anchor, but he’s clearly out of his depth in this debate — and what’s worse, refuses to recognize that he’s out of his depth even when it’s being made painfully clear to him by Ben Ferguson. Lemon himself all but declares his ignorance of firearms while delivering an indictment of the US based on the supposed free availability of a commodity that’s actually so tightly controlled it’s impossible to acquire without...
