An interesting video that showcases Hitchens, who regardless of what you think about him, is doing something very important here. He is a man credible in left circles, at one time one of the most credible, who isn't afraid to strongly condemn one of the most parasitic ideas among leftists, which is that the American ideal is not worth protecting and is in fact itself evil. I think there is a distinction to be made between people who believe there have been crimes committed in the name of American liberation, but also understand that there have been many good and...

Recent events in Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as the antics playing out in Congress are starting to wear thin with those of us who have loved ones serving in the military. ....When asked how I felt about the current situations our soldiers face, I said I would rather not comment...My son and many others like him joined the Marines out of a sense of duty to their country. He enlisted when he was 17, signing the papers for him to do so was hard, but as he explained: 9/11 and the War On Terror had a profound effect on...

Locals will tell you they taste like chicken, but you'd have to partake to see if they are telling the truth. They can be called Mountain Oysters, Cowboy Caviar, Swingin Sirloin or Calf Fries. But no matter how you slice them, they are still bull testicles. And they are the main course tonight in Watsonville. The Testicle Festival gets under way at Casserly Hall. The piece de' resistance will be served up fresh. The flier boasts only "USDA inspected" testicles will be served. It also refers to the dish as a true delicacy of the America West, not to mention...

I have posted a recording made by Ronald Reagan, speaking on the dangers of America moving toward a socialized system of medicine. He begins by quoting Norman Thomas who was a Socialist and ran for president 6 times on the Socialist Party Ticket. "The American people will never vote for a socialist...but under the name of liberalism, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program." (Norman Thomas 1927) Many of you may have already heard this recording, or are aware of it, but for those who haven't I urge you to listen to it. Although it was made in...

A friend of mine recently forwarded me a question a friend of his had posed: "If/when our Federal Government comes to pilfer, pillage, plunder our property and destroy our lives, what good can a handgun do against an army with advanced weaponry, tanks, missiles, planes, or whatever else they might have at their disposal to achieve their nefarious goals? (I'm not being facetious: I accept the possibility that what happened in Germany, or similar, could happen here; I'm just not sure that the potential good from an armed citizenry in such a situation outweighs the day-to-day problems caused by masses...

I m not a lawyer basher but when it comes to tort reform and health care.... ...So far every time tort reform comes up in debate it manages to go away. That's a testament to the powerful and influential lobby of the trial lawyers. There's a huge amount of income potential every time someone steps into the doctors office, hospital emergency room or is scheduled for an operation. The only proof you need is to watch the number of television, radio, and print advertising offers for free legal assistance that pour out daily to the public. And lets be honest,...

Just in case anyone missed it (and I think most did), there is little difference between the brother of Rahm Emanuel (Ezekial) and none other than Charles Robert Darwin. I trust at this point most of you have seen the ravings of one of the lunatic healthcare advisors to Obama, the high potentate of all that is to be united. Ezekial Emanuel’s words could just as well have been spoken in the Third Reich and are as follows: "When implemented, the Complete Lives system produces a priority curve on which individuals aged between roughly 15 and 40 years get the...

Some think politics is monotone and parliamentary sittings are boring. However, real beauties can sometimes be in these seats. We have compiled a list of ten successful women who rule the world and their beauty is breath taking.

1. It was a bit difficult to decide which beauty to assign to the first place, we will start with exotic Japanese Yuri Fujikawa, who was named the most beautiful politician in the world by bloggers. She is a representative of the city Hachinoha and was recently involved in a sex scandal, when she was spotted entering a hotel embraced by a married man. However, nobody held it against her and he is famous for being too beautiful for politics.

Hope this is the right area to post this geek thing. I'm trying to locate a program to protect my laptop in case it's stolen. I have passwords on it but I would like to have a USB flash drive as a key/lock. If the flash drive is not installed then the laptop can't be booted or accessed in any way. The USB flash drive has to be inserted into the laptop before it's turned on and the laptop needs to access a program on it before it would boot. Any ideas?

A 26-year old Greek woman has become an overnight national hero after setting fire to the genitals of a 23-year old drunken Briton who allegedly tried to sexually assault her in a crowded bar. The unidentified woman from the fiercely proud island of Crete won herself even more praise by doing the right legal thing – turning herself over to police and the courts to be put on trial for what she claimed was her "right to self-defence". She will face a magistrate on Friday to see if the case will go to court. She is currently facing an investigating...

Forget about the birthers, and the nutty claims that Barack Obama was not born in the United States. More and more, we are hearing from people who might best be described as anti-birthers. Their claims have nothing to do with long- versus short-form Hawaiian birth certificates. Instead, they advance a simple proposition: that the birth of each additional American child is a kind of calamity for the environment. The most recent example of anti-birth thinking comes from Paul Murtaugh and Michael Schlax of Oregon State University. In a study called “Reproduction and the carbon legacies of individuals,” they suggest...

Those are the words of President Obama. Just how great is the health plan Congress is on? Why do they refuse to take part in their new plan for the country? There must be certain advantages that make it hard to give up. Well, let's take a look. Among the advantages: a choice between 10 health care plans that provide access to a national network of doctors, including numerous HMOs that serve each member's state. (In comparison, 85% of private companies offering health coverage to their employees only offer one type of plan, usually the least expensive, with an option...

[...]So what do you think the MSM would do about this? Ignore it maybe? I mean Team Sarah put the rumor down quickly right? No, they blame Sarah for answering these false charges. By having her spokeswoman repeat the charges to rebut them in a public form, Palin effectively guaranteed coverage from the mainstream media that otherwise would not report claims attributed to unnamed sources on an anonymous blog. OK, Sarah, listen to me. You ignored my very nice open letter, but this is important. You have to fire Meg Stapleton, or give her something easier to do. There are...

Will Obama bail on Afghanistan? The man is obviously driven by poll numbers, witness his recent trips to Ohio where his popularity is below 50% , his hastily called “beer garden” conference, and his relentless stumping for his signature domestic issue, National Health Care. Anything or anywhere the public opinion is going south on him he quickly rushes in to try and change it. He has that resolve, but what about his resolve when it comes to prosecuting the War on Terror?... ...When a President sends men and women into battle he needs to be out front, not leading the...

A Conway woman who had video surveillance of a man having sexual intercourse with one of her horses said she found the suspect behind her barn Monday night and pointed a shotgun at his head until police arrived and arrested him. Rodell Vereen, 50, of Longs, is charged with buggery and trespassing after Barbara Kenley, who leases Lazy B Stables on Coates Road in the Wampee section of Horry County, told officers she had video of the suspect having sex with a horse then wanted to catch him at her barn. ``That stable was my getaway, my stress relief,'' said...

I'm not normally given to posting at Free Republic because my politics generally lie elsewhere, but I think the latest "story" about Obama's birth certificate from CNN really shows that the end is near for the lies on this issue. According to reports: TVNewser has learned CNN/U.S. president Jon Klein sent an email to a handful of "Lou Dobbs Tonight" staffers last night regarding the coverage of the so-called birthers and the validity of Pres. Obama's birth in the U.S. In part, Klein writes, "It seems this story is dead- because anyone who still is not convinced doesn't really have...

The United Nations on Thursday begins a debate over a new U.N. military doctrine called the "Responsibility to Protect," which would authorize the world organization to be used as cover to intervene in the sovereign affairs of a nation state, supposedly to protect the people of a country against their own government. The first target could be anti-communist Honduras. The "Responsibility to Protect," also known as RtoP or R2P, is mostly the work of the World Federalist Movement, a group dedicated to world government by strengthening the United Nations system. It is the major force behind the "International Coalition for...

See Video Here.DEMINT: Well, it has nothing to do with politics or it's certainly not personal. But, but the President's policies have not matched up to his promises so far. Here is the problem with hope and change. If you throw around empty phrases like this, and build people’s hopes up with high expectations and utopian ideals, things can only go in one direction…anti-climax. This is especially true if the utiopian ideals are built on a platform of flawed logic. Socialism sounds good to people’s hearts, but human nature will never allow it to succeed. Every proposal of “change” Obama is proposing has been built from a foundation of socialist ideas. Common sense tells us that you can’t spend yourself out of debt, but thats what Obama proposed and rushed...

Does Glenn Beck get carried away sometimes? Yes. Does he make great points trying to wake America up? Absolutely. Did he get a little overemotional in this conversation below? Yes, but in my opinion…justifiably so. This caller was looking for a fight and I kinda gained a little more appreciation for Beck at the passion he believes in all of this. No matter how much emotion is here, he has the facts and truth down. there is actually some pretty humorous moments here too. The woman who picked this fight was an obvious idiot. I hope Glenn didn’t burst too...

Paula Reed Ward and Dennis B. Roddy reported today in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Federal prosecutors filed corruption charges yesterday against a onetime defense contractor who has ties to both John Murtha and a suburban Johnstown defense contractor currently under criminal investigation. Richard S. Ianieri, former president and CEO of Coherent Systems International Corp., was accused of accepting $200,000 in kickbacks. He is charged through a criminal information and is expected to plead guilty. The indictment of Ianieri represents the first charges leveled as a result of investigations into firms receiving defense earmarks – many of which benefited former aides and...

Good-bye. A few months ago, I posted some information on bank financial strength. The post was a complex table and it took me sometime to make the post. It disappeared within a few minutes. To verify that this was what was happening, I posted a third time. It again disappeared immediately. I never received any feedback from FreeRepublic on this matter. It annoyed me, but since I...

Nasty Debbie Schlussel hates Sarah Palin, ~ refering to her as vapid, and her 18 year old daughter as "slutty". Deb complains about hate mail she gets, but Ms Schlussel has been very hateful in her diatribes. She is intolerant of any criticism, of which she will interpret as threats- I don't just mean the obvious retorts she get as her website. She has turned on fellow conservatives(such as at FoxNews), she is now scathing against Ann Coulter for defending Sarah Palin! Deborah Schlussel should be boycotted!

I like the b-movies of the 1950's and 1960's the best. Little or no foul language, not too much violence, and the wacky cheesy monsters they created. Today it is all femminazi superbimbos in charge, tons of CGI effects, and they are all produced in Canada :-Z Last night I watched a sci-fi flick from 1962 called: Journey To The Seventh Planet, that had some really hokey monsters- one of which was a one-eyed dinosaur creature with rat-like features and big three fingered claws. This film was created by the same team that made ANGREY RED PLANET of 1959. Ib...

PHIL Spector's a killer in bed, too. "We had sex. We were doing it all the time," his hot, blond and much younger wife, Rachelle, told the LA Times, speaking out for the first time since the Wall of Sound producer was convicted of murder and sent to prison for the next 19 years. But it gets creepier. Rachelle, who's 28, just two years older than Spector's daughter, Nicole, gave a choke-inducing peek at the bizarre spot they chose to tie the knot: the entranceway to Spector's Alhambra, Calif., mansion, where he blew away actress Lana Clarkson in 2003.

Could the flat tax come to California? Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said today that he would like to see such “radical” proposals come out of a commission now studying an overhaul of the state’s tax system. The governor told the editorial board of the Sacramento Bee that he hoped the commission would not be afraid to propose something like “a 15% straight tax.” “That’s the kind of radical, daring kind of a proposal that I want to see on the table so we can look at it and say, ‘Oh, let’s study this, maybe that is the way to go,’ ”...

BENTONVILLE, Ark. - As Wal-Mart Stores Inc. opens about 150 new or expanded stores in the U.S. in 2009, the company expects to hire about 22,000 people for new positions. Those positions include plenty of cashiers and stock clerks, but the world’s largest retailer will also be adding store managers, pharmacists and personnel workers. Wal-Mart is holding its annual shareholders meeting on Friday, and employees from its stores around the world are spending the week in Bentonville at company headquarters. Unlike many retailers, Wal-Mart has managed to keep sales growing since the recession began in late 2007, helped greatly by...

Students enjoy time off as adults panic May 5, 2009 Really hyped up. Relatively few cases of this flu hit the Milwaukee area, but...

One of the greatest misconceptions of American history is that the Civil War was fought over slavery. Those who subscribe to this belief see President Abraham Lincoln as the benevolent leader who made unimaginable sacrifices in human blood to wipe out America’s greatest sin. While the human sacrifice is indisputable and the sin was monumental, the war’s purpose was not to free blacks from the shackles of bondage. Rather, the Civil War was fought with one purpose in mind: To preserve the Union at all costs. And, to put it in Lincoln’s terms, with no ifs, ands, or buts. You’d...

Two Catholic senators who are ardently pro-life supported the governor; Senator Sam Brownback and Senator George Voinovich. Senator Brownback announced his support early on which was a surprise and a major disappointment to many in the pro-life movement. Senator Murkowski, who has a mixed...
