I don't have a timeline/list of which Al Queda detainees have been captured and when, and the Obama Admin is refusing to release any information that shows if any of these attacks were thwarted by the use of Enhanced Interrogation Techniques ("torture"). However, I do know of several instances in which an Al Queda leader was captured and/or EIT used, and then days later an attack was thwarted. Sheer coincidence? Perhaps, but I don't believe in a pattern of coincidences. For a full view of this timeline, please email me at smalensek@neo.rr.com , and I'll be happy to send you...

WASHINGTON, May 13, 2009 – Enemy fighters fired rockets at two forward operating bases in southeastern Afghanistan overnight, and combined Afghan and coalition forces killed or captured several insurgents in various operations, military officials reported. The complex attack on forward operating bases Rushmore and Sharana in Paktika province began shortly after midnight and ended when coalition forces responded to the assault. Coalition aircrews, airborne at the time of the strikes, identified the rocket-launch site and called for fire to suppress the attack. Six insurgents fled the site and were killed when forces used counter-battery and overhead aircraft fires to engage...

An additional suicide vest was found at the scene. Moments later, a group of suicide bombers stormed the...

A Cyber-Attack on an American City Bruce Perens Just after midnight on Thursday, April 9, unidentified attackers climbed down four manholes serving the Northern California city of Morgan Hill and cut eight fiber cables in what appears to have been an organized attack on the electronic infrastructure of an American city. Its implications, though startling, have gone almost un-reported. That attack demonstrated a severe fault in American infrastructure: its centralization. The city of Morgan Hill and parts of three counties lost 911 service, cellular mobile telephone communications, land-line telephone, DSL internet and private networks, central station fire and burglar alarms,...

WASHINGTON, April 15, 2009 – Somali pirates fired on a U.S.-flagged merchant vessel south of the Gulf of Aden today, military officials reported. Pirates attacked the motor vessel Liberty Sun with small arms and rocket-propelled grenades. The crew put out a distress call received by the U.S. Coast Guard. “The pirates were not successful in their attempt to board the vessel,” said Navy Lt. Nate Christensen, a spokesman for the Navy’s 5th Fleet in Bahrain. “The USS Bainbridge, [which] was in the general vicinity, responded to ensure Liberty Sun wasn’t in peril.” The pirates had fled by the time the...

The administration was facing a grim international incident in what's believed to be the first pirate attack on an American ship in 200 years as the drama continued to unfold off the coast of Somalia on Wednesday. The majority of the crew of 20 American nationals were able to capture one pirate and negotiate their release, according to calls placed to the Associated Press by the free crew members, but the ship's captain and a crew member reportedly remained in the hands of Somali attackers. The U.S. flagged Maersk Alabama is home-ported in Norfolk, Va., and was carrying emergency food...

Reporting from Washington -- Vice President Joe Biden issued a high-level admonishment to Israel's new government Tuesday that it would be "ill advised" to launch a military strike against Iran. Biden said in a CNN interview that he does not believe newly installed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would take such a step. Even so, his comment underscored a gap between the conservative new Israeli government and the Obama White House on a series of questions, including the Israeli-Palestinian peace process and Iran. While the Obama administration has made a series of recent overtures to Tehran, the Israelis have grown...

The following is supposedly from a polar bear attack in the High Arctic. The guy survived the bear attack. The bear jumped on him while he was sleeping in his tent and he managed to get it off of him and shoot it. How tough do you have to be to still be able to shoot after being mauled like this? "Shortly before Markos Moulitsas blamed Glenn Beck for instigating the senseless shooting of three Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, police officers on Saturday, the proprietor of the far-left website Daily Kos said that conservatives would rather shoot cops than organize to win the next election. He also wrote during the same Twitter discussion, "With no Veep to shoot people, folks are taking things into their own hands." Such was revealed Sunday by a self-proclaimed Daily Kos diarist named Tommy Christopher who was so disgusted by these comments he has actually resigned his membership (h/t Hot Air via ConservaThink)".That was written by Noel Sheppard...

The United States can do nothing to stop North Korea from breaking international law in the next 10 days by firing a missile that is unlikely to be shot down by the U.S. or its allies, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Sunday. Appearing on "FOX News Sunday," Gates said North Korea "probably will" fire the missile, prompting host Chris Wallace to ask: "And there's nothing we can do about it?" "No," Gates answered, adding, "I would say we're not prepared to do anything about it."

And Jindal's résumé, intellectual confidence and command of policy make him the anti-Palin. Fairly or unfairly, media and intellectual elites (including some conservative elites) regard Gov. Sarah Palin as an inhabitant of another cultural planet. Jindal, while also religious and conservative, speaks the language of the knowledge class and will not be easily caricatured or dismissed. To journalists, policy experts and Rhodes scholars, Jindal is also "one of us."

Well, it's cedar season in South Central Texas. Ordinarily, I would be absurdly pleased with that alliteration; however, at the moment, there's a little guy with his back wedged against my optic nerve and his itty bitty hobnailed boots pushing against the back of my left retina, while his evil little buddies run back and forth under my scalp and yank on my hair follicles. So, while I'm waiting for the allergy medicine to kick in, let's talk about the phrase, "ad hominem". The latin "ad hominem", translated literally, means, "to the man". It is used in two ways: to...

About 700 people took part in the pro-Israel rally, including members of Sweden's Democratic party. Participants carried signs saying, "Stop Eight Years of Kassam" and "Peace for Children in Israel and Gaza." The Arab supporters, who had been holding a demonstration of their own, threw a tear-gas grenade, bottles and eggs at participants in the pro-Israel demonstration about half an hour after it began.

PREDICTIONS Israel would attack Iran before US President George W. Bush leaves office have proven correct, in a manner of speaking. The attack on Hamas in the Gaza Strip is seen by analysts as an attack on the western arm of Iran's would-be Middle East dominion. "Israel has, in effect, launched the war on the Iranian empire that President George W. Bush and Vice-President Dick Cheney can only have contemplated," writes American author Robert D.Kaplan in Atlantic Online.

A nation ruled by the party of moral idiocy. That's what we have. Hamas has launched some 6,000 explosive-armed rockets at Israel during the last few years. They have launched 3,000 this year alone, according to the Associated Press. Hamas unilaterally abandoned the cease fire on December 19, and this...

Did Israel have a right to attack Hamas? You betcha, they did. As an Associated Press article points out: The offensive began eight days after a six-month truce between Israel and the militants expired. The Israeli army says Palestinian militants have fired some 300 rockets and mortars at Israeli targets over the past week, and 10 times that number over the past year. "There is a time for calm and there is a time for fighting, and now is the time for fighting," said Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak, vowing to expand the operation if necessary. If someone had fired...

WASHINGTON – The terrorism threat to the United States during the next five years will be driven by instability in the Middle East and Africa, persistent challenges to border security, and increasing Internet savvy, says a new intelligence assessment obtained by The Associated Press. Chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear attacks are considered the most dangerous threats that could be carried out against the U.S. But those threats are also the most unlikely because it is so difficult for al-Qaida and similar groups to acquire the materials needed to carry out such plots, according to the internal Homeland Security Threat Assessment...

A friend of mine on a popular social networking site just posted an interesting message. She says that prior to posting she had just completed an Web survey on commercials about how to survive a nuclear explosion. The survey covered basic emergency preparedness information, including information about a "ready kit". According to her, the people taking the survey did not say who they were. The wording of the questions was typical ("Did this commercial give you useful information? Did this commercial seem believable?", etc.). As part of the survey, she was also shown storyboard animation representing the eventual live-action commercial....

Last week, on the streets of Mumbai, we saw yet again the face of terror. We saw the face of deliberate destruction. We saw the face of maniacal evil. While the details of Mumbai's massacre are still being sorted out, this much we know. We know that the killers intentionally targeted Americans, Britons and Jews. We know that the terrorists deliberately attacked, among other sites, a hospital. And we know that the savages that shocked our consciences last week were inspired by the same wicked ideology that has inspired radical Islamists to kill innocents in the past, from New York...

They did it with banners, chants, blasphemy, by storming the pulpit, by vandalizing the church facility, by potentially defiling the building with lewd, public, sex acts and by...

Sometimes, I find it hard to stomach reading the headlines. I just finished an article reporting that Osama Bin Laden is planning on attacking the U.S. again --real soon. It’s hard to believe 7 years have passed since our hijacked planes were flown into the Pentagon and the World Trade Center. It almost seems surreal. However, we must remember that the terrorists who would do us harm do not adhere to commonly accepted timetables, do not fight a conventional war, do not distinguish between military or civilians, and are not affiliated with any one country. And any westerner or infidel...

There's a coming crisis looming that may make every situation the world has faced since World War II look like a children's game. President-elect Obama isn't ready for it. Are you?
