Newstalk ZB ^ | October 16, 2016 | Kirsty Winn, The New Zealand Herald
New Zealand supermodel Kylie Bax is defending her long-term friend, Donald Trump. She's questioning the allegations made by several women that Trump made inappropriate sexual advances towards them - saying they only want their five minutes of fame. Bax said she doesn't condone comments he made in a reality show bus, which Trump has described as locker room talk. She told NZME "I'm sorry, but he's a man." She's also questioned why people think a guy trying to get a date is more important than national security - referring to Hillary Clinton's email scandal. "What about the 300 emails that...

Oscar-winning Polish film director Andrzej Wajda has died aged 90, the Polish Filmmakers' Association has confirmed. He made more than 40 feature films in a career spanning 60 years. Many of his films - including Kanal, Man of Marble, Man of Iron and Katyn - were inspired by Poland's turbulent wartime and communist history. In 2000, Wajda was awarded an honorary Oscar for his contribution to world cinema.

Editors: Election Day in the United States is Nov. 8. Here are the AP's plans for its national text and photo report on Election Day, including the presidential election between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, control of Congress, and governors' mansions and state legislatures. A separate advisory is moving outlining AP's video coverage plans for Election Day, as are separate text and photos advisories for individual U.S. state reports. Additionally, when the AP calls the race for president, we will immediately offer two additional stories: a profile of the winner and an analytical story reviewing the historic nature of the...

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - It's a canvass of contempt that spares few. Democratic voters may want to take a detour around the corner of 25th and Cedar Streets, after a man covered much of his century-old home in scornful spray paint. The two-story tableau takes on left-leaning politicians, including Hillary Clinton, Tim Kaine and Terry McAuliffe. Dozens of demeaning phrases are painted from the ground to the roof, with Bill Clinton compared to Satan, D.C. described as Hades, and the Trump-Pence ticket, praised.

We picked up a Sony DSC RX100 and I was wondering what the techies on this board are using for video editing software. I do a solo musician thing and wanted to splice live clips together to create a montage of songs. I was thinking of the fade in, fade out thing. Also hoping for something free off the internet. Any help would be appreciated.

Full title: Farewell to John Margolies, who glorified the diners and motels of roadside America and left us 13,000 photos>Travelers, let us now raise a glass--or perhaps a curvy old Coca-Cola bottle, freshly pried from a vintage service station fridge--to John Margolies, author, photographer, lecturer, road-trip royalty. Before Margolies came along, there was a little less love in this country for drive-through doughnuts and neon sombreros. But Margolies, 76, who died of pneumonia on May 26 in New York, spent most of his adult life seeking, snapping and celebrating the commercial imagery of America’s Main Streets and blue highways....
  • Anti-Trump mural sparks sharp debate in Wilkinsburg

A large mural of the Statue of Liberty punching presidential candidate Donald Trump in the face became the focus of a debate this week among Regent Square residents about freedom of assembly. When the presidential primaries began earlier this year, Joe Davis, 45, the owner of Biddle’s Escape cafe in Wilkinsburg, encouraged his neighbors to put campaign signs on his front lawn, which sits opposite his cafe on the corner of Biddle Avenue and Trenton Street. But as the primaries went on, the signs for Republican candidates disappeared, leaving only Democratic candidates Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton. Cafe regulars...
  • H.P. Lovecraft's Night-gaunt: The Tickling Terror

    Drawing is Neat ^ | May 21, 2016 | Kurt Komoda
H.P. Lovecraft wrote of the night-gaunts in his poem "Night-Gaunts" and in the story "The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath." He certainly had a vision of what they were and how they behaved because, as a child, he was tormented by them in his nightmares- which I'll talk about a bit later. They were later expanded upon in the writings of Brian Lumley, who hinted that they may have mouths with which to suckle Yibb-Tstll's black breasts. The alternate title to this post could have been "Why I Hate Wings On the Backs of Humanoid Anatomy." For almost a quarter...

Hopefully I got this story straight. An elderly gentleman in Nevada shipped a 20"x30" original painting to someone in Alaska. I believe he was passing it on to his daughter. The painting ended up being stolen. I'm not sure the circumstances and this is conjecture on my part, but I suspect the couriers dropped it off at the house and left it while no one was home. But whatever the case may be, it is deemed stolen. The gentleman had called and informed the artist's publishing company to ask for any assistance in getting the word out. Knowing the artist...

Maybe this is yet another reason to say “God save the Queen”: dozens of Leonardo da Vinci’s anatomy drawings, so far reserved for those who visited Buckingham Palace, have been carefully digitalized and made available for you, lucky internaut. But besides this collection of the beautiful, intricate and detailed drawings and sketches of the Italian Renaissance master, along with his notes and observations, the Royal Collection Trust has also launched an iPad application that compiles the whole 268 pages of the da Vinci notebooks. This is no coloring book, but you might enjoy trying to copy some of these!

TEMPUS FUGIT 2 , the sequel of my first timelapse movie „Tempus Fugit“ (vimeo.com/69844748) took me three years to shoot. I was visiting a lot of popular and well known places around the world but quite remote and deserted spots, too, in the last three years. Sometimes I had to hike for hours with heavy equipment to come to the spots. You will find locations in Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and USA (California, Utah, Washington, Oregon). The final movie consists of roughly 6.500 frames and had been cut out of 100 timelapse sequences with more than 30.000 frames altogether....

It’s hard to believe this year is the 30th Anniversary of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, the iconic film written and directed by the late John Hughes. In the film, Ferris Bueller is a high school senior and popular and smooth talking con artist who intricately plots and executes a day of hooky from school, while outwitting his parents and arch nemesis, the Dean of Students, Ed Rooney. Ed Rooney… Ferris Bueller, being a senior in high school in 1986 was born in 1968 and therefore a charter member in Generation X. Bueller, his best friend, Cameron, and girlfriend, Sloan represent...

The real-estate tycoon and leading candidate in the Republican Presidential Primaries, Donald Trump has proposed to tackle the issue of migration by building a wall along the US-Mexican border. As this nation embraces our quadrennial presidential election cycle we should be reminded of the incredible heroism of our nation's ancestors. We should be grateful for their courage, their sacrifice, their valor and never forget their memories. The men and women who have left behind blood, sweat, tears, lives and limbs so we may continue to embark on the great American experiment. Some may say our nation's best days are behind us. Our 18 year olds of yesterday that stormed the beaches of Normandy, Iwo Jima and defeated empires that spanned continents and the globe have been replaced by crybullies...
