Bishop Larry Wright had been preaching for about 20 minutes on New Year's Eve when he saw the front door of his North Carolina church swing open. In marched a young disheveled man whom he'd never seen before. In one hand the man had a semi-automatic assault rifle; in the other, a magazine. He wasn't. Wright, 57, is a City Council member. But he was also a career military man a former paratrooper and drill sergeant who retired in 1997 so his training kicked in as he descended the pulpit's three steps: Was there a bullet still in the chamber?...

Here's your Hump day humor and education on remedial training on disassembling and cleaning an AR-15. For you AR owners this is a breeze, but it doesn't hurt to learn this subliminally by watching this video here. Here's some screen capture:

Anybody run their AR's or rifle through any sort of stress test? Have a look at this test done to a KAC SR-15 MOD2, running it through sand and shooting it without cleaning. Think Ballistic Radio ran 15,000 rounds through the gun and it still works like a charm. Have a look at the video here.

On December 16, Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI) will introduce the "Assault Weapons Ban of 2015" to ban all manufacturing of "assault weapons." Besides banning the manufacturing of AR-15s and related firearms, the ban would put in place "new restrictions on the sale of already existing assault weapons." According to The Hill, Cicilline said, "Assault weapons are designed for the sole purpose of killing as many people as quickly as possible. We need to do everything we can to reduce the toll of gun violence by keeping these weapons out of our communities."

There's this thread on Reddit that stated: For as long as I've had my AR, I've kept it equipped with iron sights only, on the theory that I didn't want to rely on a battery-operated sight. That's still true, but I'm rethinking my original choices and considering a scope or fiber optic sight. So, my question is two-fold: Would you recommend iron sights, some form of fiber optic sight, a scope of whatever type, or a combination? For scopes or fiber optic sights, what model do you recommend that performs well between 100 and 300 yards and won't break the bank?Good...

Yes, really. While everyone else is pushing gun control, I'm giving away an AR15 just to make a point. Wanted to give my fellow Freepers a chance to win. Thanks again for being awesome.

AR-15 comes with Bible verse and Knight's Templar Cross etching; Council on American-Islamic Relations of Florida condemns the rifle. A Florida gun maker has created an "ISIS-proof" assault rifle that has raised the ire of Muslim groups. Designed so Islamic State militants "could not touch it," the AR-15, made by Spike's Tactical in Apopka, is inscribed with the biblical verse, “Blessed be the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle" (Pslams 144:1). It is also etched with a Knight's Templar Long Cross - a Christian Crusader symbol. The rifle's safety selector has three settings:...

A gun manufacturer in Florida has designed an assault rifle featuring Christian symbols - in the hope it will never be used by 'Muslim terrorists'. Muslim groups have condemned the divisive gun, which they suggest will be bought by 'Christian terrorists'.

Any doubts Ben Carson left about his commitment to the Second Amendment stemmed from “political inexperience,” the famed neurosurgeon told TheBlaze. Carson, who is among the leading Republican presidential candidates in most polls, said in 2013 shortly after the public began calling for him to run for president, that the right to own a semi-automatic weapon depended on whether someone lived in a rural or populated area.

Did you know that replacing the factory gas block on your AR-15 with an adjustable gas block can improve your rifle’s performance? Let's backup, What is a Gas Block? The typical factory gas block is pinned onto the barrel in front of the polymer handguard as part of the front sight assembly. If your rifle features a free-float aluminum handguard, then the gas block is typically a low-profile type that fits under that handguard. The job of the gas block is to take some of the hot gas from behind the bullet that comes through a gas port in the barrel,...

I received an E-Mail from the NRA, (which I'm a member), recommending a manufacturer, CDNN Sports, as a good place for purchasing AR magazines.I usually buy AR magazines from Magpul, but these other mags are less expensive.

U.S. lawmakers recently questioned Army and Marine Corps leaders on small-arms and why the two services buy completely different bullets for the M16A4 rifles and M4 carbines. "You guys are using two different rounds, and you have procured several million rounds to date and you have used them in combat," Rep. Loretta Sanchez, D-Calif., said at a March 19 House Armed Services Committee hearing. Sanchez, the ranking member of the Subcommittee on Tactical Air and Land Forces, wanted to know why the Marine Corps uses the M855 5.56mm round and the Army uses the M855A1.

The U.S. Army is considering several upgrades to the M4A1 Carbine that could improve its accuracy and performance and change the weapon's appearance. Army weapons and contracting officials recently launched a market survey to see what the small-arms industry has to offer as far as better rails, triggers, charging handles and sights for the M4A1. "The government is seeking to procure M4A1-Plus (abbreviated as M4A1+) components as non-development items ... for improvements to the M4A1 Carbine," according to the March 13 document posted on FedBizOpps.gov. "It is anticipated that the M4A1+ components will be evaluated as a system. The system...

The federal bureaucracy, in the form of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, recently announced a ban on ammunition used in AR-15 rifles, which are among the most common firearms in America, but then suddenly backed off. So breathe a sigh of relief and move on? Not if you like the Second Amendment, according to a National Rifle Association commentator. Colion Noir, a practicing attorney who graduated from the University of Houston, has been described by the Los Angeles Times as someone who doesn’t fit the stereotype of NRA members: “Old, fat, white guys.” “At 29, he’s not...

Earlier this week the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms announced it would temporarily delay a ban on AR-15 M855 "green tip" ammunition. "Although ATF endeavored to create a proposal that reflected a good faith interpretation of the law and balanced the interests of law enforcement, industry, and sportsmen, the vast majority of the comments received to date are critical of the framework, and include issues that deserve further study," an ATF press release stated. "Accordingly, ATF will not at this time seek to issue a final framework. After the close of the comment period, ATF will process the comments received,...
