This Friday, May 4 2012 may be one of the most important days for economic data so far this year. The unemployment data for the month of April 2012 will be released and it will set the tone for the rest of the summer. The Bureau of Labor Statistics will unveil the latest unemployment figures at 8:30 ET and based on the initial jobless claims numbers for the month of April, we believe it’s possible the lower range of 100,000 to 120,000 is more likely than some of the mid-range economic data predictions we’ve seen at 200,000 or more. The National Chairman of the New Black Panther Party, Malik Zulu Shabazz, appeared on the syndicated radio program The Muslim Street Sunday night to discuss his party’s initiatives regarding Trayvon Martin. The New Black Panthers made news last week when they released “Wanted: Dead or Alive” posters for George Zimmerman, who shot and killed 17-year old Trayvon Martin, and then offered a $10,000 reward for his capture. “We wanted, and want, and demand that Zimmerman be brought to justice and brought to trial immediately,” Shabazz said, “and if that had been done we wouldn‘t even be discussing the ’reward’ topic.”

Abba has announced plans to release a deluxe edition of its last studio album which will include the first time since 1994 that the Swedish pop music supergroup has released material previously unavailable to the public. WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The number of mass layoffs by U.S. employers rose in April led by manufacturers who shed workers even as the economy began to recover. The Labor Department said the number of mass layoff events -- defined as job cuts involving at least 50 people from a single employer -- increased by 228 to 1,856 as employers shed 200,870 jobs on a seasonally adjusted basis. The number of mass layoffs in the manufacturing sector totaled 448 resulting in 63,616 initial jobless benefit claims, the department said.
