BREITBART: Blacklist then and now Andrew Breitbart Monday, July 28, 2008 IXTAPA, Mexico — "There is no such thing as a blacklist anymore," George Clooney declared in 2005 while promoting his black-and-white hagiography of Edward R. Murrow, "Good Night, And Good Luck." One eternally optimistic showman who has endured the Red Scare as well as the current Hollywood political disorder (let's not call it the "b-word" and upset Rosemary Clooney's nephew) is actor-raconteur - and my father-in-law - Orson Bean, who last week took our entire family to Mexico for his 80th birthday. Orson was the young, hot comic on...

We all know John McCain is terrible on immigration. For years he held America’s sovereignty and security hostage to amnesty and increased immigration, and his newfound support for “enforcement first” is so insubstantial and transparently insincere that it insults our intelligence. He’s so bad that Americans for Better Immigration ranks his performance in office as the worst of all the presidential candidates — including Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. (See the GOP grid here and the Democratic one here.) And as Robert Rector of the Heritage Foundation has pointed out, passage of McCain’s bill “would represent the largest expansion...

Plans made for teacher absences during big immigration protests - An entire school will relocate for a day and classes at other campuses may be combined Monday to cope with teachers calling in sick, school officials said Friday as they prepared for large-scale protests against immigration reform. And as the immigration debate showed no signs of leaving their doorstep, officials in the city's largest school district addressed concerns about a speech given Monday at Tucson High Magnet School in which a speaker said, "Republicans hate Latinos." Tucson Unified School District officials are taking their hardest stance against the walkouts to...

Monday, February 13, 2006 You know your city is too small when... (The back of Heather Wilson's head, on the left, with the top of the computer screen I'm hiding behind visible as I take the photo as quietly as I can...) ...you go to Starbucks to write and the evil Congressman (yes, man) Heather Wilson walks in, dressed in a manly blazer and manlier pants. Just call her W's mini-me. I don't know what the hell she's doing here. She is sitting here in front of me as I write. I just happened to have my digital camera and...

While a few Democrats appear to have been chosen by their Party to pretend to distance themselves (oddly…one of these notables is Sen. Joe Biden who never has a kind word for Republicans) from Howard Dean’s continuing backbiting of Republicans, the rest of the Dem leaders are quietly encouraging him. One Dem hand is stretched out telling Dean to stop, while the other beckons for him to continue his tirades. As Dean continues his “I hate Republicans, Republicans are evil, Republicans never did an honest day’s work in their lives, [the Republican Party is] pretty much a white, Christian party”...

Dean has said Republicans never made an honest living in their lives and House majority leader Tom DeLay ought to go back to Houston where he can serve his jail sentence. DeLay has not been accused of any crime. Dean ''doesn't speak for me with that kind of rhetoric, and I don't think he speaks for the majority of Democrats," Biden, the top Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said yesterday on ABC's ''This Week." While discussing the hardship of working Americans standing in long lines to vote, Dean said Thursday, ''Republicans, I guess, can do that because a...

Every once in a while I stumble across an opinion article that's so irrational, hate-filled and hypocritical that I feel compelled to comment on it, and New York Times writer Paul Krugman's most recent column is no exception. Titled "What's Going On?", this rambling op-ed is filled with more unprovoked attacks on religious minded people than any other I have had the misfortune to read, and I've read more than I care to remember. http://www.nytimes.com/2005/03/29/opinion/29krugman.html?n=Top%2fOpinion%2fEditorials%20and%20Op%2dEd%2fOp%2dEd%2fColumnists%2fPaul%20Krugman Mr. Krugman begins his piece by attempting to impress upon his readers the dangers of extremism in democratic countries, quickly focussing his attention on the...

Republicans Hate You This diary on DailyKos gives a historic perspective on how the Republican Party, the party of organized money, has hated working people since 1932. Every time they tried to rally support to end Social Security, they were overwhelmed by the popular mandate to keep it. Even today, with the propaganda machine going full-tilt, with computerized, rigged elections making sure that they face less of a threat from the unwashed masses, they still have trouble suckering any more than their cult minority into dismantling a program that keeps millions of people out of poverty. If you ask me,...

Millions of human beings around the world are forcibly detained, their liberties removed by governmental authorities. Anyone who takes seriously the immediate potential for replacing capitalism with a world of real abundance and freedom knows already that the great majority of crimes are either crimes against property or involve the illegal trafficking of property — or are the likely direct result of living the restricted and stressful life of a wage-slave. While there are those who justify the existence of laws on moral and ideological grounds, the defenders of the status-quo must always argue their case referring to a swashbuckler’s...

October 6, 2004 Contact: Dan Hayward Executive Director National Trend of Threatening Protests Comes to PA Democrat Protest in Westmoreland County Turns Ugly- Police Respond Harrisburg – Today, Republican State Committee Chairman Alan Novak demanded his Democrat counterpart, Chairman T.J. Rooney, condemn the threatening protest in Westmoreland County and call upon all Democrat and affiliated campaign groups to stop similar campaign protests that may be planned across Pennsylvania. “This is an outrage of the highest order. There is no place for violence, threats or disorderly conduct in campaigns," exclaimed Novak. “With similar events happening across the nation, it is clear...

LAS VEGAS - One of the partners buying the Aladdin hotel-casino said singer Linda Ronstadt (news) would be welcomed back to the property after the performer was kicked out over the weekend by current management for praising filmmaker Michael Moore. Planet Hollywood CEO Robert Earl of Orlando, Fla., said he'd like to take Moore up on the filmmaker's offer to join Ronstadt on Aladdin's stage and sing "America the Beautiful" when Earl's management team takes control of the bankrupt casino, as early as September. "We respect artists' creativity and support their rights to express themselves," Earl said in a statement...

When I eulogized my son, Nick, I said that he was my teacher and my hero. He was the kindest, gentlest man I know — no, the kindest, gentlest human being I know or have ever known. Did you know that he quit the Boy Scouts of America because they wanted to teach him to fire a handgun? Nick, too, poured into me the strength I needed and still need to tell the world about him. People ask me why I focus on putting the blame for my son's tragic and atrocious end on the Bush administration. They ask: "Don't...

Hearing, "You don't look old enough to be a grandparent," is a little like being a good-looking corpse. Not the greatest compliment. Baby boomers entering the grandparent years are launching a small semantic revolution to avoid the traditional label of senior citizen status. These youth cult boomers are demanding that their grandkids call them names with a younger sound than the traditional "grandma" and "grandpa." "Baby boomers don't want to adhere to the blue-haired old granny stereotype. They are choosing young-sounding names for themselves because generally they don't think of themselves as grandparent age," says Norah Burch, 30, a self-described...

NEWS SUMMARY The first version published of yesterday's Note included what was intended as a SATIRICAL report of a fictional ABC News/Washington Post poll. No such poll was conducted. The questions and results listed were not from a real poll. But on this day when John Kerry has a chance for wins in Tennessee and/or Virginia that just might get the Southern monkey off of his back -- and take an opponent out of the race -- and after two full news cycles in which Kerry's transient upper hand over President Bush doesn't seem to have been removed by the...

You MUST see this!!! In today's Fresno Bee, a truly odious attack on Arnold Schwarzenegger. I haven't the skills to do a direct paste, but click on the link above, to see for yourself, how low the Bee (in Fresno or Sacramento) will stoop, to protect Gray-out Davis...BTW, they also printed nearly a full page of puff-piece, to show Davis as "taking responsibility, and confessing that he's "made some mistakes."God, I despise liberals..... (((shaking head in disgust)))

SHE is not standing for president, but Senator Hillary Clinton’s reluctance to be drawn into the 2004 race for the White House has not stopped her becoming a prime target in President George W Bush’s rapidly accelerating campaign for re-election. Republican strategists last week launched a new fundraising appeal that singled out Clinton’s “ambition and prolific fundraising” as the main danger to the party’s majorities in both the Senate and the House of Representatives. In an apparent attempt to exploit conservative disgust with the success of Clinton’s newly published autobiography, Living History, Republicans are warning that neither Bush’s re-election nor...

[ResisterSister added bold highlights] CANTON -- Nearly 200 area people stood in front of the McKinley Center for a peace rally that evolved into more of an anti-Republican campaign. The war protest in the 800 block of Market Avenue N allowed area residents to join millions of other people around the globe protesting the U.S. war with Iraq. Jeff Seemann of the Canton Anti-War Association, which sponsored the event, announced: “There’s a million people in Rome right now.” Cheers rose from a sea of signs sporting slogans: Who would Jesus bomb; No blood for oil; Love, not war; Obey the...

The Los Angeles Times makes a pretense of objectivity even as its news reporting is frequently permeated by left-wing bias, sometimes subtle and a matter of tone or emphasis and on other occasions utterly transparent. Of course, the paper is free to promote its political agenda in its editorials, the more opinionated the better. But the Times has yet to declare itself an advocacy journal, and until it does so, the reader has a right to expect the news to be presented impartially. The Times’ current marketing slogan, "Subscribe to a higher standard of journalism," takes on unintended meaning...
