Alan Jackson is opening up to fans about a disease he’s been battling for years. The 62-year-old country singer told the “Today” show that he’s been battling a “no cure” degenerative neurological condition called Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease for the better part of a decade. “It’s not going to kill me. It’s not deadly,” Jackson said about the disease he inherited from his father. “But it’s related (to) muscular dystrophy and Parkinson’s disease,” he added, detailing how CMT has cut into the “Chattahoochee” musician’s ability to perform live.

BOSTON (AP) — A young man who says Kevin Spacey groped him in a Nantucket bar in 2016 has dropped his lawsuit against the Oscar-winning actor, his lawyer said Friday. Spacey still faces a criminal charge. He pleaded not guilty to indecent assault and battery in January. His accuser's lawyer, Mitchell Garabedian, announced in an email that the suit filed June 26 in Nantucket Superior Court has been voluntarily dismissed. No reason was provided either by Garabedian or in the court filing. Garabedian said he would have no further comment. A telephone message was left at his office. According to...

NEW YORK (AP) -- Denise Jackson knew that her marriage to Alan Jackson wasn't perfect. She was too needy and insecure in the relationship, and he was on the road a lot, becoming one of country's biggest superstars. Still, she wasn't prepared for the shock she got in 1998, shortly after the birth of their third child, when Jackson -- her sweetheart since their teen years -- told her that he didn't want to be in the marriage anymore. Hurt and disillusioned, she tried everything to get him back, and turned to prayer.

Dixie Chicks tix honored at patriotic concert Ticket holders given alternative to supporting controversial trio A radio station in North Carolina says Dixie Chicks fans who hold tickets for their May 17 Greensboro, N.C., concert are welcome to use those tickets at an alternative "patriotic event" the station is sponsoring the same night – just in case Chicks fans want to send a message to the group in response to its wartime comments about President Bush. The female trio became embroiled in controversy after singer Natalie Maines – a Texan – told a crowd of London concertgoers last month, "Just...

<p>''I'm just a singer of simple songs.</p> <p>I'm not a real political man.</p> <p>I watch CNN, but I'm not sure I can tell you the difference in Iraq and Iran.''</p> <p>We at The Tennessean are paid to do more than know the difference between Iraq and Iran, but we could never more eloquently describe the emotions of a nation than Jackson did in his song Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning), which captured the mood of Sept. 11 and became an anthem for the grief so many people found difficult to put into words.</p>
