Although homosexual men are a tiny sliver of the U.S. population, they account for the majority of all Americans living with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has announced. Men who have sex with men (MSM) are two percent of the population but make up 55 percent of people who were HIV-positive in 2013, according to a CDC fact sheet released last Wednesday. More than nine out of 10 new HIV diagnoses (92 percent) come from young gay and bisexual MSM, ages 13 to 24. If these trends continue, one of every...

When they decided to print special collectors’ covers for the magazine’s September issue, all about “icons of change”, the publishers of Elle knew immediately who the stars should be: the actors Kristen Stewart and Amandla Stenberg, both of whom have made headlines for their refusal to conform to traditional notions of sexuality; the singer Zayn Malik, who walked away from One Direction, the biggest pop band in the world, at the height of its fame; and the transgender model Hari Nef. Nef’s cover is arguably the most radical of the four. It marks the first time a transgender woman has...

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration opened the door on Tuesday to a change in its blood donor deferral recommendations, which currently prohibit donations from gay men for a year following their last sexual encounter in order to reduce the risk of transmitting HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. In December the FDA overturned a 30-year ban on all blood donations from men who have sex with men, saying the change was based on science showing an indefinite ban was not necessary to prevent transmission of the human immunodeficiency virus. The FDA is now signaling it may go further. Gay...

Grindr, the gay dating app, is an effective way to get gay black and Hispanic men to try home H.I.V. self-testing kits, according to a recent study. The small study was confined to Los Angeles, and fewer than 400 test kits were distributed, but the idea has broader potential. Grindr is used by at least five million men in 192 countries, according to its developer. In the United States, young gay black and Hispanic men are the groups most likely to be infected with H.I.V. and the least likely to be tested for it, because they often lack health insurance...

Although there are many reasons to oppose the normalization of homosexuality, this reason alone would be enough: it represents an enormous risk to human health. According to a recent and extensive survey, homosexuals have "excess health problems" compared to sexually normal people. They suffer disproportionately from "impaired physical and mental health, heavy alcohol consumption, and heavy cigarette use." The National Health Interview Survey, which has been conducted since 1957, included a question about sexual preference for the first time in 2013 and 2014. The results are astounding and alarming for anyone who cares about people who are trapped in a...

The Clinton Foundation is 'a vast, criminal conspiracy' and 'a slush fund for grifters' with thousands of honest people who are victims after contributing their hard-earned money to what they believed would be used for philanthropic causes. In truth, the money that was donated to help earthquake victims in India and Haiti and HIV/AIDs sufferers in the Third World has mostly enriched the Clintons and their friends through scams spanning the globe, claims author Jerome Corsi in his book, Partners in Crime: The Clintons' Scheme to Monetize the White House for Personal Profit, which will be published in August. Driven...

...Under current laws in the US — which are mirrored here in Australia and other parts of the Western world — gay men are unable to open a vein if they’ve had sexual intercourse in the past 12 months. These restrictions sprung up during the AIDS panic in an era of widespread homophobia, where pastors and pundits publicly proclaimed that HIV was a divine plague on homosexuals. Right now, there are less than 30,000 cases of HIV in Australia. Sounds low? That’s because it is — among the lowest rate in the world, in fact. About two-thirds of these carriers...

A Florida police officer said Tuesday that he and a group of five of six other officers surrounded the bathroom where Omar Mateen was holed up, but were told to wait until a SWAT team arrived. Belle Isle, Fla. Police Officer Brandon Cornwell, 25, told The Washington Post that he and the officers entered Pulse Orlando as bullets flew and clubgoers screamed. He said his group aimed their rifles and waited about “15 or 20 minutes” because they were told not to engage the bathroom area. Cornwell said he never even saw Mateen. Federal authorities said Monday that police “engaged...

English title: Orlando massacre was "revenge," not terrorism, says man who claims he was gunman's lover Mateen was "very sweet" and liked to be "cuddled," the man told Univision. But he was upset about the way gay men responded to him. Omar Mateen, the Muslim gunman who committed the Pulse nightclub massacre in Orlando, was "100 percent" gay and bore a grudge against Latino men because he felt used by them, according to a man who says he was his lover for two months. “I’ve cried like you have no idea. But the thing that makes me want to tell...

Several weeks before he massacred 49 at an Orlando gay nightclub, Muslim terrorist Omar Seddique Mateen transferred over his interest in his Florida home to his older sister and Afghan brother-in-law, property records show — an indication the family possibly had some knowledge of his martyrdom plans. Authorities say the fatally shot Mateen clearly was prepared to die in a gun battle with police during the June 12 attack, the deadliest act of terrorism on U.S. soil since 9/11. On April 5, Mateen “quit-claimed” the deed on his Port St. Lucie, Fla., house, signing it over to his sister, Sabrina...

An Arizona woman slammed her car into her boyfriend after finding out he was HIV-positive, according to a report. Startling surveillance video shows Misty Lee Wilke’s boyfriend riding on a bicycle when a red Ford Mustang comes out of nowhere and hits him, sending him over the top of the car and to the ground. Wilke, 44, told cops she “recently become involved in a sexual relationship” with the man, and that the two argued after she learned of his HIV status, according to The Smoking Gun.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Andrew Rodriguez was 15 years old when he smoked his first cigarette. He knows how addictive smoking can be and hopes a new California law raising the smoking age will discourage young people from taking up the habit. "I think it's better," said the 21-year-old chef-in-training from Los Angeles. "I just hope they don't raise the drinking age." Beginning Thursday, smokers have to be at least 21 to buy tobacco products in California. The nation's most populous state joins Hawaii and more than 100 municipalities in raising the legal smoking age from 18 to 21. Anyone...

President Barack Obama issued a proclamation on Tuesday declaring June as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month, and in the proclamation noted that “gay and bisexual men and transgender women of color are at particularly high risk of HIV,” the virus that causes AIDS. […] Obama credits the LGBT community and its supporters for “sweeping progress by changing hearts and minds and by demanding equal treatment — under our laws, from our courts, and in our politics,” the proclamation states. “This month, we recognize all they have done to bring us to this point, and we recommit to bending...

Senior Hamas politburo official Mahmoud al-Zahar reignited the war of words between his terrorist organization and Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah faction, which have long been bitter rivals. Hamas and Fatah have remained violently divided despite the unity deal sealed by Abbas in April 2014 when he torpedoed the US-led peace talks. In recent days - even as Egypt is leading talks in Cairo to try and unify the Palestinian factions - al-Zahar upped the ante on Hamas-Fatah tensions by slamming Fatah founder and arch-terrorist Yasser Arafat for being a "coward" and fleeing a battle with Israel, before...

An issue brief published on Tuesday by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control claimed that that Southerners' "racism," and "homophobia" may be causing high HIV rates in the South that are disproportionately high among African-Americans and homosexuals. [Snip] The CDC claims that one of the "factors driving the Southern HIV epidemic" could be the apparent bigotry of Southerners. "Issues such as homophobia and transphobia, racism, and general discomfort with public discussion of sexuality may be more widespread in the South and can lead to higher levels of stigma," the CDC claims. And increased levels of stigma - according to the...

A map documenting HIV rates for gay and bisexual men has revealed they are most at risk for becoming infected in multiple southern cities, according to a report being presented today by Emory University researchers. The cities with the highest rates included Columbia, South Carolina, El Paso, Texas, and Jackson, Mississippi. In these cities, more than 25 percent of men who have sex with men (MSM) had been diagnosed with HIV. “This is really the first time we’ve been able to examine the HIV infection burden ... at such fine levels of geography,” Eli Rosenberg, assistant professor of epidemiology at...

Sex roulette parties where one person is secretly HIV positive and nobody is allowed to use condoms are on the rise, warn doctors. The parties are usually attended by gay men, who are entertained by the 'thrill' of not knowing whether they will be infected or not. Spanish doctors have noted a rise in the sex roulette parties where attendees often take anti-viral drugs to reduce the risk of transmission.

The next great cause, now popular in academia, is legalizing prostitution. The author of "Friendship as a Way of Life: Foucault, AIDS, and the Politics of Shared Estrangement," [Dr. Tom] Roach based much of his presentation [at the University of Maryland recently] on the work of Michel Foucault (1926–1984), a French philosopher who died of AIDS and was accused of deliberately infecting his partners with the deadly disease. "In the mid-1970’s," says the LGBT History website, "Foucault taught at the University of California, Berkeley. He became enamored with San Francisco and its liberated gay sexuality—especially the bathhouses." Foucault declared, "I...
