If the media reports an earthquake was a breeze in the forest, did the earth still move? I’m not sure TownHall Finance is the natural venue for that question, but I’m also not sure why the Denver Post—my local paper—put a significant political and cultural event on page umpty-something, in the business section. If you didn’t see it with your own eyes, you might have missed something big last week. Under fire by gay activists and their media amplifiers, Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy unapologetically confirmed he supports the biblical definition of family as he understands it. This modern heresy quickly...
  • CFA Appreciation Day – The Triumph of the Ordinary

The Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day yesterday was historic. It was historic because it marks a new method of mass protest. I even hesitate to use the word ‘protest’ because it wasn’t a protest. There wasn’t any anger. There wasn’t any hate. There wasn’t any bullying. There were no unwashed crowds of unhappy people holding a sit in and causing other people stress, inconvenience and expense. There were no protest signs, no marches, no noise makers and attention grabbers. There were no revolutionary slogans, no clenched fists, no class warfare, no sullen adolescents in a stroppy mood. The classic signs of a...

Chick-fil-A announced Thursday morning that supporters who flocked to the restaurant for "Appreciation Day" propelled the company to a "record-setting day." The statement confirmed anecdotal claims that the long lines seen at Chick-fil-A's across the country Wednesday fueled unprecedented sales. The turnout came after CEO Dan Cathy came under fire in some circles for his opposition to same-sex marriage. "We are very grateful and humbled by the incredible turnout of loyal Chick-fil-A customers on August 1 at Chick-fil-A restaurants around the country. We congratulate local Chick-fil-A Owner/Operators and their team members for striving to serve each and every customer with...

Chick-fil-A says it set a sales record on Wednesday, the day that supporters rallied around the fast-food chain amid a debate over its president's opposition to same-sex marriage. The chain said it won't release sales numbers, but "we can confirm reports that it was a record-setting day," said Steve Robinson, Chick-fil-A's executive vice president of marketing

[In the blue state of NJ, stunning footage of line at Chick-Fil-A on Aug 1] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m90FsST_1p4&feature=youtu.be Chick-fil-A is a conservative company that stands for traditional marriage and operates on Biblical principles. They REFUSE to bow to political correctness from the media! We drove 40 miles to support Chick-Fil-A. We sat in traffic for over an hour on Route 17. When we entered the mall and saw Chick-Fil-A the line filled the floor. As we approached the line we realized it was a maze throughout the back of Chick-Fil-A. We stood 2 hours in line and met so many other supporters...

Although I am a native Chicagoan who has lived in the city for many years apparently I am not a good citizen according to our mayor, Rahm Emanuel (D). By his description, I lack Chicago values. Guilty! I am so respectful of my fellow neighbors and other residents that I have never murdered any of them nor have I bribed any city, county or state employee, all standard behavior and practices in our city. I also believe in the US Constitution, including the sections guaranteeing the free exercise of religion and freedom of speech which, according to the mayor and...

We were at the Chick Fil-A at the Paramus Park Mall in Paramus, NJ. The first time I ate at this place since the mall opened in 1974, and it was pretty darned good. I highly recommend the peach shake. What's noteworthy is this particular Chick fil-A is one of the few remaining original teneants at this mall. No media coverage, other than the local cable news. Considering how heavily democrat Bergen Cty is they had quite a turnout and everyone seemed in good spirits. And the crowd was quite a bit more, (I HATE this word) diverse than...

The media-news site JimRomenesko.com reports on Facebook comments by Fort Myers (Fla.) News-Press reporter Mark Krzos, who summed up his disgust as he covered Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day: "Such a brave stand ... eating a g-ddamn sandwich." "I have never felt so alien in my own country as I did today while covering the restaurant’s supporters. The level of hatred, unfounded fear and misinformed people was astoundingly sad. I can’t even print some of the things people said," he claimed. Then he bashed talk radio: "It was like broken records of Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh and a recitation of half-truths...

Just an observation, asking for opinions and other observations here. We went to a South Florida Chick-Fil-A, one that is in a "white" area, but still fairly diverse ethnically because of a nearby college...the town of Davie. Saw a significant number of African American customers supporting Chick-Fil-A...I wonder if the rumors about Obamugabe's celebration of sodomy is *really* cutting into his "base".

Photo gallery and article: "For many who went to eat at Chicago-area Chick-fil-As Wednesday amidst calls to support the company president’s anti-gay marriage stance, it didn’t come down to whether they agreed with him or not. Rather, they said, it was simply to show they supported Dan Cathy’s right to espouse his beliefs — beliefs that they said shouldn’t impact whether another Chick-fil-A should be allowed to open in the city. “I came out to support freedom of speech,” said Bob Matter, a paralegal and self-described atheist, liberal and supporter of gay marriage. Matter, like hundreds of others, flocked to...

The amount of cars seen on State of Franklin Road heading toward Peoples Street, as well as cars wrapped around the Walgreens on State of Franklin and West Market Street Wednesday, would easily resemble a Black Friday mob, heading out to scour the sales racks. People were not out looking for the latest deals, though, but rather they were out to buy chicken at Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day. It all started after former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee encouraged his viewers to ‘Eat More Chicken’ while speaking on his FOX News TV show and Johnson Citians turned out in numbers to support...

And the day’s not over yet. Somewhere, a Burger King ad man’s toying with the idea of having “The King” declare himself “100% pro-life.” @dancathy just called me. #ChickFilA has already set a world record today, with 7 more hrs to go in the West. #OutOfChicken— Rick Warren (@RickWarren) August 2, 2012 Not a word about today’s activities has been whispered on Chick-fil-A’s feed even though CFA has been trending on Twitter off and on all day. As noted in the earlier post, the suspicion is that the company’s lying low about what’s happening in order to extricate itself from...

As I write this, Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day isn't even over yet, but it is already obvious that the cultural Left in America has been handed an absolutely huge defeat today. For those who have been living under a rock for the past few weeks, Chick-Fil-A's President, Dan Cathy (son of founder Truett Cathy), was recently asked by a Baptist publication about his views on traditional marriage and same-sex "marriage." Cathy, whose company is well-known for its support of Christian principles (including closing on Sundays, something almost unheard-of these days), responded by affirming support for traditional marriage and opposing same-sex unions....

Went to my local Chick-Fil-A here in Maryland(the Blue Liberal Bathtub) at Noon today and the store was already packed with customers just before Noon time today! The other location near Waldorf Maryland was just as busy from what I have been told. Today in my opinion was the successful defense of free speech as well as free will as I have the right to spend my money when and where I want, when a business shares my believes.

The wife and I tried to visit the Chik-Fil-A at Eastpointe in Bridgeport, WV. The parking lot was FULL, and the drive-through traffic spilled out onto the frontage road, the side road connector, into the four-lane that surrounds the shopping center. There was no way we were getting in there. We decided to head to the next one, five minutes up the road at Meadowbrook, located in the mall. This one was also very full. The picture doesn't really show how densely people were packed in, but I estimate at least 50-60 people in line waiting (sorry about the crappy...

Upland, CA August 1, 2012 It was an exciting day at the Chick-Fil-A in Upland, CA. Hundreds and hundreds of great Americans came out to support the 1st Amendment. I arrived at 11:37am and it took me almost an hour to get a bag of chocolate chip cookies. I haven't eaten meat or fowl since 1991, but I had to go there and support them. Inside, the line wrapped around like a Disneyland ride. Had the fire marshal been called, he would have probably made many people leave. No short tempers and everyone was very friendly. The traffic jam was...

PHOTOS: Chick-Fil-As Across The Country Are Absolutely Jam-Packed Brett LoGiurato and Kim Bhasin Aug. 1, 2012, 4:06 PM By all early accounts, Gov. Mike Huckabee's "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day" seems like a wild success. Conservatives are lining up in droves. Former Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum is offering his support and urging supporters to visit a restaurant. One Wendy's franchise owner expressed his support for Chick-fil-A at a North Carolina Wendy's. Chick-fil-A originally incurred a backlash when COO Dan Cathy affirmed in an interview that the company did not support gay marriage. "We are very much supportive of the family —...

Supporters of Chick-fil-A are eating at restaurants in the chicken chain Wednesday as the company continues to be criticized for an executive's comments about gay marriage. Long lines were reported at Chick-fil-A restaurants at malls in Peabody and Burlington. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, a Baptist minister, declared Wednesday national "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day." Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy told the Baptist Press last month that the Atlanta-based company was "guilty as charged" for backing "the biblical definition of a family." That unleashed a torrent of criticism from gay rights groups and others, who have called for boycotts and efforts to block...
