Seagram’s heiress and accused Nxivm benefactor Clare Bronfman tried to buy influence for the alleged sex cult by illegally raising money for Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign, a former group member testified in court Monday. Bronfman funneled thousands of dollars into Clinton’s campaign coffers — far in excess of legal limits to contributions — to “curry favor” with the powerhouse political family, according to Mark Vicente, a documentary filmmaker and former member of the Nxivm group that is accused of keeping women as sex slaves.

The U.S. attorney reportedly appointed to investigate whether spying by the FBI on the Trump campaign was legal previously exposed a conspiracy between the bureau’s agents and mobsters to cover up for murders committed by mob informants. Attorney General William Barr tasked U.S. Attorney John H. Durham in Connecticut to investigate whether spying on President Donald Trump’s presidential campaign in 2016 was adequately predicated, according to Reuters. The Department of Justice didn’t respond to a request to confirm the appointment. Durham will scrutinize the conduct of several current and former senior FBI officials, including former Director James Comey, former Deputy...

Steve Bannon said there is "no chance" President Donald Trump will back down as trade tensions rise between the U.S. and China. The former White House chief strategist praised Trump while speaking with CNBC's Squawk Box, depicting the president's efforts to alter financial relations with China as a necessary step to change the trade dynamic with a country he says has waged "economic war against the industrial democracies for 20 years." "This is going to set the world in one direction or the other for the next 20, 30, 40 or 50 years. And we've let this drift for so...

House Democrats are "heading into a world of hurt" if they escalate their fight with Attorney General Bill Barr over access to the full Robert Mueller report, according to constitutional law expert Jonathan Turley. Turley, a George Washington University law professor, issued the warning during testimony before the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday. As lawmakers grilled him and other legal scholars on issues having to do with executive privilege and congressional oversight, Turley stated that while he generally tends to give weight to congressional power, they are sure to lose if they go to court for the purpose of holding...

The Reuters/Ipsos survey released Wednesday found that Biden's support among Democratic voters has increased 5 percentage points, up to 29 percent. He now leads his only close challenger, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), by 16 points in the poll. Sanders, at 13 percent, is the only other candidate to register more than 6 percent support among Democratic voters.

Billionaire Mark Cuban said Tuesday that there is "nobody right now" among the pool of Democratic presidential candidate hopefuls that could beat President Donald Trump in the 2020 election. And he hasn't ruled out all possibilities of running for president in 2020, although he admitted it would take the "perfect storm" to get him to throw his hat in the ring. "We'll see what happens," Cuban told Scott Wapner in a phone interview on CNBC's "Fast Money Halftime Report." "Look, I've said it many times, it would take the perfect storm for me to do it." Symptoms include diarrhea, depression, and miscarriages. * The government is urging farmers to cull infected pigs to prevent the spread of the disease, which is in turn dramatically decreasing the country's pork production. * Dutch bank Rabobank estimates that the country will kill 150 million to 200 million pigs — or one third of the country's supply — this year. * China is the world's largest pork producer and consumer. The steep...

America's fertility rate and the number of births nationwide are continuing to decline. The number of births for the United States last year dropped to its lowest in about three decades, according to provisional data in a new report from the National Center for Health Statistics at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. "Even though the number of births we've seen in 2018 is the lowest that we've seen in 32 years, the total fertility rate is at a record low," said Brady Hamilton, a natality expert at the center and first author of the report.

Former GOP Rep. Carlos Curbelo (Fla.) turned up in Washington on Wednesday for a Ways and Means hearing on climate change — even though Democrats fearful he could use the event to bolster a reelection run had removed him from the witness list. Curbelo went to the hearing anyway, and before it began told reporters his removal was a reflection of what is wrong with Washington. “What it has done is expose, again, the reason why things don't get done here, and why the big issues don't get resolved. Because too many people are focused on their own personal political...

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., on Wednesday unveiled a bill that would end asylum claims from Central America at the border and return unaccompanied minors to their home countries -- a targeted effort to tackle the escalating migration crisis. “This is a nightmare for smugglers,” Graham said. “This is a godsend to stop the humanitarian disaster.” Graham’s bill is designed specifically to deal with loopholes he says are encouraging migrants from Central America to make the treacherous journey north and bring children with them. He pointed in particular to the 20-day limit for authorities to hold unaccompanied minors and families before...

VIDEO Liberals are bad mouthing President Trump for placing higher tariffs on Chinese goods as a tactic to get that country to sign on to a fair trade agreement which would lower their high tariffs on American goods. They fear a Trump win so much that they don't care if their rhetoric emboldens the Chinese to continue standing firm against coming to an agreement. Meanwhile CNBC's Jim Cramer provides a reality check on what is at stake and how the liberal talking heads are so wrong about fighting a trade war with China to WIN.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told Iraqi officials that U.S. intelligence showed Iran-backed militias moved missiles near bases housing American forces. Pompeo made the disclosure to Iraq’s top brass during his surprise visit earlier this month, Reuters reported. The revelation comes just hours after all non-emergency personnel at the U.S. Embassy in Iraq was ordered to leave the country. He asked the military officials to keep the Shi’ite militias in control as they are expanding their presence in the country and now are part of the country’s security apparatus. The top diplomat warned that otherwise, the U.S. would have to...

Democrats will introduce legislation to mandate zero-emissions vehicles make up all new car sales by 2040. The bill is co-sponsored by three Democrats running for president in 2020 who support the Green New Deal. The internal combustion engine has long been a target for environmentalists. Democrats will introduce legislation to completely phase out the use of gasoline-powered cars by mandating that only zero-emissions vehicles can be sold by 2040. “When I take a lungful of air in this moment, it has 30 percent more carbon in it than when I was born,” Oregon Sen. Warren’s decision to snub an invitation from Fox to do a televised town hall prompted glowing headlines from The Washington Post, CNN, The New York Times and other liberal outlets Wednesday. They highlighted her characterization of the conservative network as “a hate-for-profit racket,” and noted it puts other Democratic presidential candidates who have taken Fox News up on the offer in the position of having to justify their decision. “Fox News is a hate-for-profit racket that gives a megaphone to racists and conspiracists—it’s designed to turn us against each other, risking life and death consequences, to provide cover for the...
