The Next George Bush Bet Everything on Trump In a time of outsider politics, can the ultimate insider resurrect his family’s brand? -------------------------------- But how does one sell the party of Trump to communities he’s repeatedly disparaged? On immigration, Bush claims that the challenge isn’t one of substance. “It’s the tone that is not working,” he said, adding that “Texas wants the national government to come forward with solutions,” such as “supporting Border Patrol,” “strategically located physical structures,” and a plan to deal with people who have overstayed their visas, which Bush feels is “the most overlooked issue.” But however...

The Illinois House on Friday rejected a bill that would have blocked public colleges and universities from asking about a prospective student’s criminal history as part of the application. The so-called “ban-the-box” proposal – a reference to questions that appear on many job and college application forms asking people whether they have or haven’t been convicted of a serious crime – was sponsored by Rep. Mary Flowers, a Chicago Democrat who argued the question prevents many people with criminal histories from turning their lives around. “These people were a tax burden at one time. They were costing us money,” Flowers...

The Afternoon Campaign Update (Because The Campaign Never Ends) As Notre Dame Cathedral burns to the ground, the Democrat Party leadership threatens to join it. – Nancy Pelosi was featured in a puff piece interview with reliable Democrat activist Leslie Stahl on CBS’ “60 Minutes” fake news program Sunday evening. At one point, Stahl pointed out the different groups within the House Democratic caucus. “You have these wings — AOC and her group on one side,” Stahl said. “That’s like five people,” Pelosi smirked. Stahl responded by correcting the Speaker, saying that the “progressive group is more than five.” “Well,...

Fox anchor Shepard Smith on Monday melted down when a French guest attempted to explain the ongoing attacks, violence and vandalism against French churches. Talking about the fire engulfing Notre Dame, where the cause is unknown, guest Philippe Karsenty began, “For the past years, we've had churches desecrated each and every week all over France.” Just seconds after his guest was introduced, Smith immediately jumped in and reprimanded, “Sir, sir, sir, we're not going to speculate of the cause of something that we don't know! If you have observations or you know something, we would love to hear it.” After...

Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx said she is still on track to begin wiping clean thousands of minor cannabis convictions in the coming months, but acknowledges that her office is still trying to determine how exactly to implement her bold plan. She also said in an interview with the Sun-Times last week that her office was also taking a look at her office policy toward prosecuting those arrested for the sale of marijuana, but said the review was still in its early stages. Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx is not going to resign. She’s going to run. Last month, Foxx plunged into a white-hot controversy when her office dropped all charges against the actor Jussie Smollett, accused of staging a fake assault and claiming he was the victim of a hate crime. The venom leveled at Foxx is not about Jussie Smollett. It’s about taking down the first African American woman to serve as the county’s top prosecutor, and about her efforts to bring justice and equity to communities of color. Her law enforcement critics, mostly white men, say Foxx is soft...

RUSH: There is fire at the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris, and it looks huge. The wooden roof appears to be on the way to becoming fully engulfed. There was originally just a small plume of smoke that came out of it from a distant photographer, but now they’ve got news cameras in there, and it is massive, this fire at Notre Dame. It has preempted coverage of the imminent release of the Mueller report on all of cable news. BREAK TRANSCRIPT RUSH: Notre Dame Cathedral continues to burn. The main spire there has collapsed. That’s one of the identifying...

He tweeted it first, and then he doubled down on the idea, and I just wanted you to hear him say it because we only had the tweet on Friday when I was still doing the program. But I just love this. Trump: Let's see if sanctuary cities have open armsTHE PRESIDENT: We’ll bring the illegal — really, you call them the illegals. I call them the illegals. They came across the border illegally. I think I'm going to be ill. I just sat through the live announcement of the 2019 Pulitzer Prize winners and I have never in my life seen such a vindication of everything we believe about the contemporary mainstream media. First was an agonizing prelude of quotations and videos praising our liberal journalist "friends" for about ten or fifteen minutes (apparently non-liberal journalists don't count as journalists--the hypocrites!). At least it felt like fifteen minutes. Then came the prizes themselves. They literally hit on every left wing trope in existence. They bestrode the entire left wing spectrum from one end...
