Don’t wait for any politician or news media talking head to save you and your family from any barbarians who would make good on their threats With a thousand and one predicted disasters calling the attention of the average citizen, we live in confusing, turbulent times. If Ebola, terrorists or living in a country without borders doesn’t get you, something else will. It’s as if the leaders of some countries want the countries they were elected to serve wiped off the map, leaving the world’s largest bureaucracy called the United Nations to get on with their convenient One World Government....

As Twitchy reported, blame social media is the new blame Bush, at least according to President No Strategy. However, it seems that actor Eric Roberts, best known as brother of actress Julia Roberts, didn’t get that memo. Plus he’s, you know, cuckoo pants. Taking a page from Russell Crowe’s Obama-swoon book?Truly pathetic. Seek help, man.

Wow. That was some summer. The Islamic State that President Obama dismissed as "JV" proved to be a virulent varsity—gobbling up gobs of the Middle East, beheading an American journalist, and threatening the United States. Russia invaded Ukraine. Ferguson burned. Obama shrugged. "The truth of the matter is that the world has always been messy," the president told Democratic donors between meetings of his national security team and rounds of golf. "In part, we're just noticing now because of social media and our capacity to see in intimate detail the hardships that people are going through." No, that's not it....

President Lincoln once said to an over-cautious general, “If you are not using the army, I should like to borrow it for a short while.” After Obama’s latest press conference, I think we might need to say, to our disengaged, apathetic commander-in-chief: if you’re not using the presidency, would you mind if we borrowed it? When asked what he intended to do about the biggest foreign policy crisis of the moment, the rise of the “Islamic State” (also known as ISIS or ISIL) in Iraq and Syria, here is what the commander-in-chief had to say. "I don’t want to put...

Earlier, I noted that the UK at least had begun planning to deal with its hundreds of citizens who went to fight for ISIS while the US and other similarly-situated Western countries have mostly wrung their hands over the issue. The US has a potentially bigger issue, though, in dealing with foreign nationals studying here legally. ABC News reports that the Department of Homeland Security can’t find more than 6,000 people living here on student visas — which sounds awfully familiar:CLICK ABOVE LINK FOR THE VIDEO The Department of Homeland Security has lost track of more than 6,000 foreign...

As a result, many of these people ended up defaulting on...

IÂ’ve already shared a bunch of data and evidence on the importance of low tax rates.A review of the academic evidence by the Tax Foundation found overwhelming support for the notion that lower tax rates are good for growth. An economist from Cornell found lower tax rates boost GDP.Other economists found lower tax rates boost job creation, savings, and output.Even economists at the Paris-based OECD have determined that high tax rates undermine economic performance. And itÂ’s become apparent, with even the New York Times taking notice, that high tax rates drive away high-achieving people.WeÂ’re going to augment this list with some additional...

In a fiery speech over the weekend to an Americans for Prosperity gathering in Texas, Ted Cruz made one thing absolutely clear: He'd love to have the 2014 midterms be decided on the issue of immigration."President Obama has made a decision to make this election in 2014 a national referendum on amnesty," Cruz said in reference to an expected executive order on immigration from the White House. "If you support amnesty, vote Democrat. If you oppose amnesty, throw Harry Reid out."Cruz went on: And every Democrat in the Senate who stood with Harry Reid blocking legislation to stop the amnesty,...

It must be hard to stay in a half million dollar per year part-time (very part-time) job when you just can’t seem to care about money. “I was curious if I could care about (money) on some fundamental level, and I couldn’t,” Chelsea’s like Mother Theresa. But his brother-in-law said that Weems had undergone brain surgery. The hospital would not respond to The Associated Press regarding that claim. Sen. Mike Lee has called on Americans to join him in the effort to abolish the federal Common Core education standards "As a U.S. Senator, I’ve seen the federal government make a mess of everything it touches," the Utah Republican wrote in the email sent out Monday morning. "And if they're allowed to stay, Common Core standards will be the ObamaCare of education," he wrote. "Common Core is the DC takeover of our school system. It will dumb down standards and cheapen the education our children receive." All kids in America "deserve the best education in the world. The only...

It wasn't the happy ending that many were originally reporting. The squirrel found his way into the great nuthouse in the sky. "By now, most people have seen the video of the cat/squirrel which ran in front of Kevin Harvick Sunday night at Atlanta Motor Speedway. He thought it was a cat at first but on closer inspection, it was obviously a squirrel. The squirrel ran across the track in Turn 3 but soon afterward, he made his way around to Turn 4 where he ultimately met his demise. That's right, there is no happy ending for this story. The...

In Great Britain, the Liberal Democrat party is proposing that "age appropriate" sex education classes be introduced to include internet porn and social media for students as young as seven years old. The party wants to implement new courses that address sites and apps like Twitter and Snapchat, which can contain sexually explicit material. The party says it wants to avoid "extreme" subjects and make the courses age appropriate. "We're not saying as politicians children should be taught XYZ or ABC, as we're not the policy experts," Spokesman Ben Rothe said, according to the UK Mirror. "We're not saying children...

Are American Troops Already Fighting on the Front Lines in Iraq? The Pentagon is denying that U.S. troops are fighting ISIS on the ground in Iraq—but eyewitness accounts and Kurdish officials tell a different story. ZUMAR, Iraq — The role of American Special Operations Forces in Iraq has remained hidden even while the U.S. air war expands. As momentum against ISIS picks up, they may be emerging from the shadows. In a pitched battle on Monday, Kurdish Peshmerga, backed by American airpower and what appeared to be U.S. troops, struck at ISIS positions in the strategic crossroads of Zumar.Scenes from...

Vatican City, Sep 1, 2014 / 10:32 am (CNA/EWTN News).- Faith is not founded upon human wisdom, but on the power of God, as made manifest in the Gospel. This was one of the main themes of Pope Francis' homily on Monday morning, resuming daily Mass at the Santa Marta residence following the summer holidays. Addressing the congregation, the Pope said that we do not read the Gospel simply to learn, but to find Jesus. This is “because Jesus is truly in His Word, in His Gospel.” One ought to receive the Word “as one receives Christ: that is, with...
