Afghanistan presents new surprises.

After appearance on the television channel al-Jazeera of Osama Ben Laden, (who was declared dead by both Bush and Musharraf), numerous of analytics and commentators suddenly and unexpectedly recalled that in the mountains along the border of Pakistan and Afghanistan live the so-called Khaiber nomad tribes of the Afghans. These people, who are subordinated to no one, live an independent life. They cross the boundary, when they want and where they want, and that the number of people in these tribes exceeds 5 million people.

Moreover, more than 90 percent of local Afghans are armed. According to the data of Pakistani special services, in arsenal of Khaiber tribes are included heavy mortars, guns, artillery, variety of small arms, an innumerable number of heavy machine guns and more than 80 complexes of «Stinger».

Analytics and commentators here assumed that tens of thousands of Taliban and soldiers of «al-Qaeda», their armaments disappeared in nowhere, and so Ben Laden himself, is found under the patronage of the alliance of the tribes of local Afghans - Pashtuns, who are united into four large groups. Neither Kabul nor Islamabad has any control in these territories, with exception of two-three basic mountain roads and several crossings, which here are numbered not one ten.

In connection with the appearance on television screens of «resurrecting» Ben Laden, who stated that the fight against Israel and its supporter USA will be continued, and by the explanation that more than 5 million uncontrollable armed Pashtun control significant territories on both sides of boundary in the mountains of Afghanistan and Pakistan, «victory» of USA in Afghanistan unexpectedly faded away.

It should be marked that Ben Laden spoiled new-year celebrations of Washington.

Got me!

One thing I know in my gut is that this war is not really over. The Talban have only been removed from power, they have not been removed as a fighting force. I'm certain they will regroup and counter-attack as oppurtunity allows them.

Osama Ben Laden, (who was declared dead by both Bush and Musharraf

More lies from the Muslim world. Bush has NEVER declared bin Laden dead. Quite the opposite, in fact. He has said that he doesn't know whether bin Laden is dead.

I see that during Ramadan Muslims give up sex, drinking and eating. Wonder if they could give up lying too (at least between sunrise and sunset). Nah. They'd probably all explode.
