All essays are considered from vanity posts or replies to other posts. The criteria is that it has to be written by a Freeper and posted on Free Republic. If you have written something that you want to be considered give me a headsup and I will do my best to read it and it will be considered.
My apologies to those Freepers who have written masterpieces that just got missed by me and a few scouts that are ever watchful for the essay that is special and expressed well.
Anyone can be a Freeper Scout. All you have to do when you run across that special post is send me the thread number and send it to me by email: RJayne@zoomtown.com or leave me a message on the thread.

I am honored to have my essay even be considered. I had no idea it was reviewed for this (wow!). And to have won 2nd runner up, in addition, I humbly say thank you.

Thank you my dear girl. It's like living in tall clover, being in the company of these folks! Congratulations to each and every one of you, how very proud you make us all.
Each and every time Jayne chooses anything of mine for some recognition, I want to reach back into time and stand on the roof of my south side Chicago high school, and scream out to my puckered up old English teacher, Mrs A Apple, who thought my opinions were, lets just say out of the prevailing liberal mainstream,....
YO Adrian, I did it!!! Bwhahhahahhahhah....sorry, I couldn't help it.

Well, RJayne..........thankya........thankyavermuch. :) Since this "essay" was actually a "reply" within a thread rather than posted separately as a thread of its own, I didn't realize it would be "eligible" for Essay of the Week. Honored, appreciative for ALL that you do. Happy Thanksgiving holidays to ya, there, lady........and God bless you.
P.S. I, on a dare, posted this piece on D.U. in response to the sarcastic posting there about "why I no longer want to be a liberal" (which had been posted on FR for comment, prompting me to write this in the first place). You guessed it......RIGHT after I posted it there, I was "banned". I consider that a Badge of Honor. LOL! :)

CONGRATULATIONS!
Carlo, your Rush Limbaugh thread was a good 'un. I hope someone sent it to Rush so he could read it and see how much he is loved and respected here at FR. I don't recall any negative comments on the entire thread. He's had a HUGE impact on the conservative movement. I'm glad you started the thread so we could tell him so!
Jayne, you recognized one of my meanderings as a bonus byte a while back and I don't think I said Thank You. I do so now. I was so surprised that anything I have to say would even be considered worthy of recognition (especially considering the depth of talent and the level of intelligence here at FR), that I was embarassed to accept the honor. However, it was rude of me not to say thank you. So............a belated THANK YOU!
To: RJayneJ
I thank you for the recognition. Heck, I didn't even realize anyone read my stuff except to flame me. I guess it pays to let off steam once in awhile. Thanks again.

Oh!!!! You know, I felt so strongly about my post that I ached. I understood all of the criticism about the Red Cross and other major charities, but I also think that when any organization (including the federal government, '92-'00) loses sight of its major mission, scandals, stupid decisions, and ultimately even collapse are at hand. The Red Cross needs to be on hand with donuts and blankets, clean drinking water, and blood where ever it is needed. This business of becoming a free auxiliary Met Life for privileged executives' well-to-do families is not my idea of charity. I am sorry for all of the victims of 9/11, but--my next-door-neighbor didn't get $200K when his wife suddenly died of pancreatic cancer, and the Red Cross isn't there for my mother-in-law as she slowly dies of ovarian cancer. If 9/11 had taken place over 3,998 different days, nobody would have noticed it.
