Since the Sept. 11 attacks, the international spotlight has been trained on Afghanistan, the Central Asian country notorious for housing one of the most repressive regimes on the planet as well as suspected terrorist Osama bin Laden.
But how much do most people really know about Afghanistan? A little digging on the Web sheds light on the enigmatic nation.

The canyon of the Kabul River, up to 5000-6000 feet in depth, east of the city of Kabul. It is traversed by a spectacular, Russian-built highway. This is one of many impressive landforms in the country, but as yet there are no significant national parks. |

The Virgin River Canyon on I-15 at the Utah- Arizona border is pretty spectacular but this looks to be much deeper! WOW! |
