Following the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon, U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld was questioned on ABC television's This Week program about the possible use of tactical nuclear weapons in the expected conflicts to come.
In practiced Pentagonese, Rumsfeld deftly avoided answering the question of whether the use of tactical nuclear weapons could be ruled out.

Any idea what they would look like on the Richterscale? There have been three or four "events" of 3.8 to 4.2 ,I belive, in Afghanistan in the last week

I was thinking about this yesterday. They ought to bomb everything
that even remotely looks like a cave opening. They could call it the
'don't-need-to-bury-anybody-cuz- that's-already-been-done' bomb.

Yeah, I'm thinking it would be poetic justice, but may not be the politically correct thing to use.
I think they need to know that we will not hesitate to use nukes if we discover anyone or any govt involved in using Anthrax in any way.

I think the world is under the impression that we won't ever use them if only a couple of our cities are nuked. Under Clinton that was the policy.
We need to show people we're serious under President Bush. If terrorists supported by a state use biological weapons against Americans you will be nuked. If they use nukes, your entire nation will be reduced to radioactive rubble.
