This prayer was found in the fiftieth year of Our Lord Jesus Christ. In 1500's it was sent by the Pope to Emperor Charles when he was going into battle.
...........Whoever reads this prayer or hears it or carries it, will never die a sudden death, nor be drowned, nor will poison take effect on them. They will not fall into the hands of the enemy nor be burned in any fire, nor will they be defeated in battle......................
Glory Be To Jesus and Mary..........................
I Mary Virgin, servant of God,very humble Mother of Jesus Christ, Son of God,the Almighty and Eternity,to all who are in Messina, health and benediction in our Lord. You have learned by the ambassadors who have been sent to you .You received the gospel and you acknowledged that the Son of God has become man, and has suffered the passion and death for the salvation of the world, and that He is Christ and also the true Messiah,I beseech you to perserve, promising to you and all your posterity, to assist you in the presence of my Son.(great graces are given to those who carry a copy of this letter) Mary Virgin very humble servant of God.

No Mary didn't write it ..and yes i pray to her she's the mother of Jesus why would she not help you,and she said it will protect you and she doesn't lie.For those whom don't believe it's their loss.

The basic problem with this prayer is you are praying to Mary. She is dead and can't answer your prayer. No where in the Bible does it say Mary rose from the dead or escaped death by translation. Always pray only in the name of Jesus, and to Jesus for EVERYTHING, including forgiveness of sins.
John 14
5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.

Please show me where in the Bible we are supposed to pray to Mary. Or anyone else but God, for that matter.
Any verse will do, and you'll have won me over.

I am not a Catholic but If Christ is the Son of God, then the most important human has to be Mary. God entrusted His Son to Mary for caring and feeding while growing up. There is a special natural bond between a mother and her son, so that relationship had to be very Special. Mary was also there at the cross when Christ was crucified. Where were the apostles, they were afraid and hiding. Mary stood by Christ all the way. If Mary does not have an inside track with God, the Father and Christ, no one does.
I am not saying to pray to her but I don't see anything wrong asking for her help.

Hi Classy: Beautiful prayer. Thank you. I always ask my friends to pray for me and I ask her to pray for me as well. Our Lord loves His mother just as it says to do in the Ten Commandments. Our Lord adhered to the Ten Commandments more perfectly than anybody else. He would have certainly honored his earthly mother - and father for that matter! How can anybody think He would NOT love and honor His dear mother! She worships and adores Him just as we do. She is not a threat. She is an inspiration. She loves him as her son and as her God. She is merely a creature as the rest of us are, But she was gifted with carrying God Himself within her. She most certainly does deserve a special place in heaven. I have no problem asking her to pray for me. Jesus hears her humble pleas, just as he listens to my prayers, and everybody elses prayers. I'll make a copy of that prayer and keep it with me. Certainly couldn't hurt! :-) Blessings! I

There is power in prayer! The God of Moses is still available to us. Can we ever forget how God worked on Pharoah, so that he would let his people go? God changed Aaron's rod into a snake, the first born of the Egytians were smitten, if they did not have the blood over the door, he sent pestilents, he turned the water into blood, and he opened the sea, so that all could cross! God did not remove Israel in an instant, but chose instead to show his mighty power. .... I think of poor old Elijah and the prophets of baal, and what a mighty show it was for the Almighty to show his power. That same God fed Elijah by the ravens when he was hungry. That same God is available to us today when we call upon him...... When we read the bible, we know more about him, and we love him more, and we are more able for our faith to work. Yes, he is our very present help in time of trouble............ Psalms 46 ."1": God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. .. "2": Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; .. "3": Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. .. "4": There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. ... "5": God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early. ... "6": The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted..... "7": The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah. ... Please pray for Israel, and especially all of the people in the Middle East who have not had the opportunity to know him and his great love for man, pray for the Muslims around the world who need Jesus just as much as we do. Pray for Pakistan and Afghanistan, and just as importantly pray for the United States, and that that we will return to the God of our Fathers.... Prayer really can change things.... I am really not too concerned about anyone's religious affiliation, for there are only two kinds of people, those who know him, and those who know him not, and God himself will separate the sheep from the goats. Remember to pray... Prayer can change things!

Dear CGB, With all due respect to Catholics reading this, praying to Mary is a particularly Catholic endeavor. No other Protestant or non-denominational Christian group anywhere in the USA prays to Mary. We pray to God, the Father.
Nowhere in scripture does it say that Mary is (a) to be prayed to, nor (b) that she is in a position to hear such prayers.
Again, respectfully, it is understandable why your post was pulled. You are arguing from a perspective few people share. May I suggest you read scripture a bit more carefully?
If you choose not to do so, please understand that the Person to be prayed to is God. If there are messages He thinks should be relayed to Mary, who is deceased and has not been resurrected as was Jesus Christ, He will do so. If your prayers to Mary go unanswered, it is only because they have been directed to the wrong Person.

She has the power to ask God for your requests. Why can't I request something from God directly? If we assume that God is all knowing and just, what does it matter if I ask him or if Mary asks him for something, if the request is just and righteous?

This has got to be fake.
It's OK to pray for Mary to intercede -- but she cannot grant prayers, merely pass them along. (Never saw the point of this roundabout method myself, but as a Catholic I find it logical that Mary or any other Saint in heaven can pray for us if asked, just as you might ask a friend on Earth to pray for you.)
The thing which marks this "prayer of Mary" as fake is the ASSURANCE "Whoever reads this prayer or hears it or carries it, will never die a sudden death, nor be drowned, nor will poison take effect on them. They will not fall into the hands of the enemy nor be burned in any fire, nor will they be defeated in battle".
This is simply superstition, magical thinking. You CANNOT force God to grant your wish by saying or reading the right sequence of words.
Heresy.

If you don't share someone's faith, it's not kind to belittle it. IE: if someone starts a Happy Hanukkah thread this winter, are you going to chime in and tell them their religion isn't that of "the majority?"

Well, it is kind of chain-letter-y, with the "whoever carries this" tag, but it probably gave someone somewhere comfort.
To: VeritatisSplendor
So your calling Mary a liar? Well I can't make you believe..Well let's see who lives..
To: classygreeneyedblonde
Thanks,here's one for you.
O,Lord God Almighty,Please don't let a mortar shell or rocket land in my hole, and turn me into a nameless red jelly seeping into the sand.Jesus, that one was close!!Please Lord,I don't want my arms blown off or lose a leg.... or God NO, not those either! Please _Please,Let me live. Please protect me and keep me from harm, don't let me have my eyes blown out like Cpl. All Clear.
Whoa,that was close,let's go have a beer.
