Sept. 22 Federal investigators found box-cutter knives on at least two airplanes during sweeps conducted in the aftermath of the deadly Sept. 11 hijackings, including two stuffed into seat cushions on a flight out of Boston and one found in a trash bin of an Atlanta jetliner headed for Brussels, government officials said yesterday. OFFICIALS SAID the discoveries provide the strongest indication yet that other hijackings may have been planned on Sept. 11, when terrorists commandeered four jetliners with boxcutters and other knives before crashing them into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a field in rural Pennsylvania. Thousands of people are missing and presumed dead.
Investigators cautioned that they have not determined how the knives came to be on the planes and have not ruled out innocent explanations.
COMBING MANIFESTS
FBI and Federal Aviation Administration investigators are combing passenger manifests in search of suspects who may have been planning a hijacking that was somehow averted. They are also investigating the possibility that the knives were not left by failed hijackers, but were planted by accomplices who worked for airlines or at airports.
God this is scary stuff. I'm concerned about my fellow Californians who seem to think that LA is the logical west coast target. The plans found in the Phillipines outlined jet crashes into the Sears tower and the TransAmerica pyramid in SF. No offense to LA, but SF is a much prettier target.
President Bush's fast order to get them all on the ground may have saved thousands of more victims.
But these vipers are still crawling among us....
There were at least two jets where the arab hijackers had a fit at the cancelled flights and ran away.
Why is there no discussion of removing all illegals being heard on the broadcasts?
It seems to be the place to start to secure this country.
It's not that big a task.
All illegals out of the U.S. and scrutinize the legal immigrants through the proper procedures.
Did you read that he made that order? I hadn't seen that yet.
I guess someone handed him a memo outlining it and he gave it his Johnny Hancock. I didn't think it would take a pres. directive but only the FAA to start shi++ing on everyone.
How f__king stupid.
Until last week, I ALWAYS carried my knife (or knives) with me. Did it all the time, was never challenged or asked about it.
Of course, it's now a "crime" to carry a knife. Pretty soon, we'll see "knife registration" and licensing. How 'bout a two-week waiting period, before you're allowed to own one???
Stupid gubmint officials, thinking that outlawing the weapon will outlaw the crime, or the intent.
Guarenteed, I could do FAR MORE damage with a zippo and an aerosol can of automobile starting fluid, then with my 3" pocket knife...
Never let logic interfere with the liberal/emotional solutions proposed by govt. (FAA) nitwits...
Big Ern - I don't know if Pres. Bush gave the order to shut down the airline traffic. Maybe he did, maybe he did not. But he gets the credit because the buck stops there. By the way - maybe you don't get it yet. We are in a war and we don't really CARE who gets the credit for doing smart, lifesaving actions. We just want lives saved. Then, we can give credit where it is due. Either way - we win - and you lose.
I guess you read more into my post than was there. I only wanted to know if he actually signed an order or the FAA did it. It was only a technical question. I don't lose despite your jumping to conclusions. Check out some of my other posts and you will see that I am not some infiltrator who is trying to bash Bush or someone who can't stand to see Bush get credit for the planes landing quickly.
Put down the daggers and quit jumping down my throat.
They definitely weren't afraid to fit right into American society, were they? Scary!
Check with 'Patriot1' or 'newslady' (They're sisters) one of these two were in the air and were diverted to Las Vegas on their way home to New Orleans.
What's next? Neckties (handy for strangulation and as a noose). Ditto for belts.
