Re your key words: GO SHOPPING TODAY. KEEP THE ECONOMY GOING - I couldn't agree more. The strength of the economy depends on us not losing faith and abandoning it. I heard someone say the other day that if, for example, you were planning to buy a car, buy it. As it happens, I was on my way to Sears to buy our new range, so I felt I was doing my patriotic duty (ha!), but he was correct. There was a story in this morning's paper to the effect that over the weekend, the malls were busy, but people weren't really buying. Do we really want bin Laden to take credit for destroying the U.S. economy? I think not!

HLL, thank you for the fresh tHread!
M, good for you, get the biggest, baddest, stainless steel model, Viking, if that doesn't wreck the budget, that Mr. M can shoe-horn into your wonderful new kitchen. We will expect photos in due time, JL

I'll have to wait for the Viking for when we have a bigger house (not to mention a bigger budget)!
To: cajungirl
No, I had no problem getting into lucianne.com.
To: mountaineer, cagungirl, All
Hey, I don't go to "tos" any longer: trying to do my part with the Fundraiser, the Guild, and the FReeoples, keeps me very well occupied these days. Lucianne use to be one of my favorites, but it got a bit heavy-handed for my taste, so I voted with my mouse, and havn't been back for several months.
Even with dsl, the net seems way sluggish this morning, out, JL
Have a great day all: We WILL see this mess through!

Lucienne has a wonderful tribute to Mayor G. today. It is worth going to and reading, even though she is not on your priority list of things to do, places to go.
How long do we have to endure Hillary and Chuck hogging up camera space at every single photo op? They are here, there everywhere and when they get a chance to speak, they brag about what they have done for New York. A couple of phonies and hypocrites, IMO. Today they were up bright and early at the opening of the New York Stock Exchange. They need to return to D.C. and do their jobs there. Rudy will take care of NYC. Sure, they semi-praise Bush sometimes, but that is only because of his high approval ratings (89-91% before the war really starts! Mara Liasson admitted this is unprecedated).
And if Hillary insists on going everywhere, will one of her dear friends please help her dress properly. She was actually at Father Mike's funeral on Sat. in a gross pantsuit with a sweater tied round her neck. IMO, not proper respectful attire for a beloved priest's (and, according to Hillary!, her dear friend whose death in NYC was the one that touched her first and most) funeral. She did look better for her t.v. appearances on Sunday where she said absolutely nothing and was a waste of show time, IMO.
There, my Hillary rant is over for this hour, at least.
To: daisyscarlett, All
VERRRRRY nice rant! I like your rants!
Personally, I find HRC neither "bright," and certainly never "early!" LOF JL

To: all you patriotic ladies this morning:
I know this is kind-of a vanity, but need your help.
I posted 3 times over the week-end and searched endlessly - I am looking for the full page ad that went into the Wash. paper during the Manager's Tribute etc. - the one of George Washington.
My aunt is here (Pgh.) from Alaska and she has never seen it. Do any of you find ladies have it bookmarked. I got a new computer and lost it. Alamo Girl emailed me but all links she sent are empty. I even searched google and found alot of freeper pictures but not that one.
I'm also looking for the "Budget Cut" picture from 1998 of Hillary & Bill "Bald" - if anyone can help - thanks so much. Karen e-mail me at: (karrie2@nauticom.net)

And tomorrow I am going to post a thread unrelated to WTC, Pentagon, War, flags, fighting, bin laden. I've had this "Boys of FR - Part III" ready and was going to post it last Tuesday.....then the attacks, and of course I couldn't do a fluff thread then. I hope tomorrow FReepers will be ready to enjoy a look at our first FR Guys Calendar. :^) Here's a tiny peek at some our boys........
Just a peek I said........there are ten more (includes Dec, 2001)

You go, girl. W wants us to get back to doing normal things and your calendar will be perfect. I am already wondering who the lucky guy will be for July as I bet you will have him surrounded by 4TH OF JULY flags etc.
My getting back to normal consists of climbing Mt. Laundry and ironing while listening to Rush. So far, I have managed to stay away from the 24 hr t.v. coverage. My radio station breaks in for all press briefings, though.
I will try to go to the Mall this p.m. to spend some money to help the economy. Of course, I do that often and justify it to hubby by explaining to him about "trickle down economics". We all must do our part...
To: Billie
Woo Hoo! Good job, Billie! There sure better be a month with MadIvan!
To: Billie
Woo, Woo. Thank You Billie, Middle aged Eye Candy for Dirty Little Old Ladies. Put me down for the complete collection,,, I will auction it off at the next Republican Women's meeting. We mustn't let these conservative stud muffins be wasted on the Libs.

I so appreciate your post, daisy. I know there are some who'll probably frown on it at this time, but we really, really DO have to get back to some sort of normalcy in our lives, and hopefully, FReepers for the most part will be ready for something light and fun. It doesn't mean we'll be forgetting the terrible tragedy - we will NEVER forget that. Most of us didn't live through Pearl Harbor, as this is likened most to, so THIS is "our" permanent stamp of the horrors of war and assault on US. That is NOT to lesson the Korean, or Viet Nam, or Persian Gulf war tragedies in any way - they just didn't happen HERE, in America.

I WISH I had a picture of MadIvan - I do not - alas! He won't be in it. :^( Maybe, hopefully, he will send me one, and the NEXT "Boys of FR whatever" will feature him with others I'd like to have photos of! This is Part III, and I've used different "boys" in each one.
