Buy American stocks on Monday? Which ones?
Posted on 09/15/2001 7:28:46 AM PDT by watsonfellow
I am in London, so news is a bit sketchy here, especially with the reliably anti-American BBC (even SKY news is jumping on the "America deserved it" bandwagon), but is there a big move to buy American stocks on monday to shore up the market? If so, any ideas on what American stocks to buy?

Saw a comment by Donald Trump that most of the folks he has talked with are planning to buy. Not sure what, but defense contractors would be a good bet.

Be Free Inc. I love the name and I am told they have more money in the bank than their stock is valued at--but who knows? Perhaps defense stocks like Boeing and GE???

Sell Disney short!
Until, of course, they either divest ABC, or ABC fires Peter Jennings.

If you can find the companies which supply the parts to the Tomahawk cruise missles, they would be excellent bets. Then share the information with all of us.

Do I have to reply to my replies before I see all other posts/replies?

Buy Red Hat (RHAT) and Phoenix (PNX).
Would love to my shares go up and they are good buys.

Believe me, I know it can be frustrating at first. I'm sure by now you have read my post #6 and are refreshing as we speak. You can also hit self search in the blue line above to see all your posts and replies made to your posts. I generally right click on self search and select open in new window. I'm afraid I'm assuming you are using a microsoft product, so I hope this info is of some assistance.

Raytheon had offices in the WTC. I hope their business prospers - they make excellent products.

Well that was easy enough, learning how to refresh and all, and on top of that, I just created a profile...I become more and more free republic saavy every minute.

It's easier to tell you which stocks not to buy.
Anything related to travel, including airlines, rental cars, resorts, gambling, hotels, etc.
Oil, gold, and defense stocks will benefit. Boeing, Raytheon, and Northrop Grummans are the obvious choices, although we need to keep in mind that this could be the type of war where planes and tanks aren't consumed.
