I was looking about on the web for information on fundraising groups and came across this site that focuses on groups aiding military veterans.

When I see a stat like that, I want to know how much the bigwigs get in salary and how luxurious the corporate offices are.
Is this the group that returned the money to a church group because it had been raised ‘for religious purposes’ in violation of certain new codes? If so, I hope they get past this bias against church groups in a few years.
Wounded Warrior Project also spends an inordinate amount on advertising. To some that is bad as it is part of the reason why only 58% goes to wounded vets. But it is also why the organization has increased its contributions so dramatically over the years, meaning more money for wounded vets.

This group has ads all over the tube and is pushed heavily by Hannity. I understand he may have also had some problems with money he collected from his freedom concerts “drifting away”.

Still, when the overall money raised is so huge there must be a lot of good being done and I know that the bigger an organization gets, the more it takes to run it.
That said; my wife and I always make our charitable contributions to The Salvation Army because of their management policy and now with veteran services I am sending what I can to The Military Order of the Purple Heart which is staffed and run mainly by volunteers who are veterans themselves.
About a decade ago, I gave a nice chunk (for me) to a group that said they fix up laptop computers for injured Vets returning from Iraq/Afghanistan.
That put me on their list.
Twice a week I was getting their mailings, wanting more. Those contents of those mailings got more professional and more costly. Even the returns went from a postage stamp to prepaid FEDEX. FEDEX is not inexpensive.
I returned some of their mailing and asked them to remove my name. It took 3 months and 2 more requests before they finally quit sending stuff.

Back in the early 1970s I got an economic publication. One issue had a list of many of the ‘well known’ major donor organizations and the amounts that actually went to help those in need. For most, the number was pathetically small, but the administrative fees were upwards of 70% or more of the received donations.
I got interested in this sort of stuff when I read about the big offices, executive salaries, limos and corporate jets in the Sierra Club and Green Peace.

I don’t want to bad mouth the organization as I don’t know much about it, but the percentage of contributions actually going to the cause is too low. Really reputable charities should put at least 80% into their cause.
This sort of thing drives me crazy. I can't believe that there's no qualified retired general or admiral who couldn't run the organization at 1/3 of that salary. Heck, even $100,000 a year is a lot of money.
They have also openly advocated "gun control." Can't cite a source now, since I threw their request for support away, but I quit giving to them.
Don't forget the Gary Sinise Foundation....I learned about this just before Christmas last year and made a donation in the name of wifey, as a gift to her; she loved it.
I don’t like the numbers either as I don’t think anyone should be getting rich off of the backs of wounded vets. But there is a larger picture here. Employing its business model of increased spending on high profile advertising the organization has increased the amount it provides to vets. I don’t give to them, and I’m not intending to defend them. But that deserves mentioning.
Steven Nardizzi is co-founder of the organization and he is getting rich. I don’t care for that so I don’t give them my money.
Any non-profit that runs t.v. ads as often as WW does must have an awful lot of money. My suspicion is there’s some progressive anti-war organization working here to dumb American down into thinking our veterans are all victims, to be pitied,
