But the lesser men may not know they are lesser.
To act insulted when they notice her, is her
problem, not theirs.

Hasn’t been a problem at my Latin Mass. Well, I guess there was one time when a lady — a visitor — walked out during an anti-abortion homily. She also was showing a lot more skin than the regular attendees.

The bottom line is that IF someone is offended by your clothing (or lack thereof) then we ought to consider that they have a very real concern and modify our clothing so we don’t offend them.

All my doctors, ARNPs, etc., belong to the same hospital system and if their manner of dressing starts looking unprofessional they get put back in line real quick.

I am unfamiliar with any right from being offended. That’s a liberal concept which has no legal basis.

"no jewelry or make-up. But I wear both, and if it offends anyone, they’ve never told me. "

Well, there is "normal" jewelry and make-up and then there is show-off or ostentatious jewelry and make-up. I can't imagine that the understated versions would be a problem; they certainly aren't at our Latin Masses.

This has happened a few times in my Church. One priest said in his homily "Guess what I saw last week in Church, a naked woman!" another young priest was asking women to dress a little more modestly and said "I have eyes and I am a man".

Modesty is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. Why would we not want that?

I remember a deacon discussing this. He found it extremely disturbing to be giving out communion while looking down at exposed cleavage. He would much prefer not to be distracted in that way when he is doing something sacred.

Seems reasonable to me.

Seems reasonable to me.

A big problem today is that many people are not reasonable and are way too thin-skinned. "Let me immediately get on social media and shame the hell out of someone and get them fired." Incredible bullying going on lately.

“dressed like they were going out to get a gallon of milk at 11PM.”

I can’t quite visualize that, but I’d guess it’s a step up from dressing like they were going out for a pack of cigarettes at 6 a.m.

It’s not about a right for being offended. It’s about thinking about someone else in a church setting. In other words putting someone else first instead of ourselves.

I do.

It is easy to dress lightly when light weight golf attire, in modest colors, is one of the easiest things to obtain and it is what many will wear to lunch after service.

For us men it is a little thoughtful to dress up somewhat as it always allows our sweetheart to dress up as well and shows we consider squiring them to community worship very important.

So I ignore denim or hiking shorts and use golf or dress shorts. I forget the rattie shoes or sandles and put on some nice loafers. A knit shirt, well ironed closes the deal. 107 in a couple of days at my house.

For the first time, last night, I saw a Muslim woman who was really dolled up yet still respecting the Muslim dress code (yeah, sort of). She was dressed head-to-toe in black but her head scarf was lacy and frilly, her belt strapped around her narrow waist to show off an hourglass figure and giant platform heels while wearing full makeup.

I thought, “Well, if the point of Muslim dress codes was female modesty, this lady is trying to have the best of both worlds”.
