According to accurately translated Mesopotamian clay tablets, this was a was between the Anunaki of heaven in orbit, and the Marduk followers on earth. The Anu released 7 nuclear devices which exploded across the Middle East. Sodom and Gomorrah were one of the targets.
Egypt and Babylon were the only Marduk civilizations which survived, all others started by the forces of Marduk were destroyed.Abraham would have seen the savaged lands where these devices exploded. Today the locations are marked by residual radioactivity.
God still talks to man even in this day and age. He will talk to any of us/you if we/you get right and earnest with Him. He still answers prayer and performs miracles just as He did in Old Testament times. Get down on your knees and ask Him.
A long time ago when I moved to Queens, NY from Suffolk county, and had romanticized Manhattan I found myself, being made more aware of how there were unholy things going on there, asking myself ‘how much worse can NY be than Sodom and Gomorrah? I could not answer the question in favor of NY. I could not see much difference. (1970s, btw).

I have also heard that look back could also mean to lag behind. Lot’s Wife lagged behind because she still wanted to hold on to her life in the past and got caught up in the volcanic ash. If you look at what happened in Pompeii you can see that a person can be turned to volcanic glass in an instant.
