Pope Francis ‘covered up for sex abuser McCarrick’ and must resign, says senior archbishop
The Spectator ^ | 8/24/18 | Damian Thompson

Pope Francis stands accused this morning of covering up the crimes of ex-Cardinal Theodore McCarrick of Washington, one of the most senior and sinister sex abusers in the history of the Catholic Church.

The allegation comes from the Vatican’s former apostolic nuncio to the United States, Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, 77, who has called on the Pope to resign.

In a devastating 11-page written testament, Viganò says Francis lifted severe sanctions imposed on McCarrick for sexual wrongdoing by Pope Benedict XVI, the existence of which has not been made public until now.

Viganò writes that he told Francis in person in 2013 that McCarrick ‘had corrupted generations of seminarians and priests and Pope Benedict ordered him to withdraw to a life of prayer and penance’.

But, says the former nuncio, the new Pope decided instead to cover up for the retired Archbishop of Washington – and made him one of his most trusted advisers.

‘He knew from at least June 23, 2013 that McCarrick was a serial predator,’ writes Archbishop Viganò. ‘He knew that he was a corrupt man, [but] he covered for him to the bitter end.’

Only when the media revealed last month that McCarrick was suspected of the abuse of a minor did Francis take action ‘to save his image in the media’.

According to Viganò, at some point before 2010 Pope Benedict had ordered McCarrick to retreat to a life of prayer and penance and banned him from saying Mass publicly. Benedict had been told that McCarrick was guilty of ‘gravely immoral behaviour with seminarians and priests’.

I printed this 11 pages out last night, got myself a drink and read the whole thing. He hits the problem smack dab on the head. I would encourage everyone to take the time to read it. You won’t be sorry.

The Marxist Francis undertook a coup against the rightful Pope Bennedict.

The Vatican leaks have shown that Bennedict was blackmailed and threatened into resignation. The ill health excuse doesn’t wash as he has enjoyed outstanding health since his forced “retirement”

Francis is not working for God, he is working for the Serpent

Francis is the Obama of the Papacy.

He never should be elected. Benedict deserved to live out his term, not that he would have been more proactive on abuse, but at least he would be less proactive on socialism and climate.

The Church needs reform now. Especially on abuse, celibacy and female clergy.

It’s getting to the point where I have to hold my nose when I enter Church.

Why and for what was he blackmailed?

I'd appreciate your link . . . but Pope Frank's statements on homosexuality squares perfectly with the archbishop's claim.

Folks, these people do more damage to the Christian faith than all of the atheists and Christian haters combined. Pure evil because our religious leaders are entrusted with great power and people are vulnerable to what they say and do.

Same goes for crooked televangelists.

It gives nonbelievers an excuse to not believe or skeptical Christians to turn away and choose Islam.

BTW, I am a Christian.

The worst of the worst in my opinion. They will have to explain themselves when the time comes.

This also applies to all who protect these evil people knowing that they were doing evil things. They are as bad or even worse.

Believe the homosexuals would rather see the Church destroyed than give up their hold on it. An honorable man would resign.

In Ireland, of all places. Wow.

I wonder if that’s a reaction to the news or a general apathy amongst Catholics in Ireland...

Interesting thoughts.

  1. I read that Benedict 16 canned ~400 - 500 priest-offenders in 8 years, plus a number of bishops,on both sexual and financial dirty tricks. Pretty good record when the serpents around him were blocking his access to accurate information, leaking his private deliberations (VatiLeaks) and foot-dragging or outright stalling his reforms

  2. What other reforms were you thinking of? You mentioned "...Especially on abuse, celibacy and female clergy.

Abuse he was attacking while fending off Swamp Creatures all around him; celibacy is not the problem, f---ing horndog behavior is the problem; female clergy? The Pope cannot do this. Not "he won't," not "he doesn't want to," it's that he can't. JPII already determined that. In his words, " ...in virtue of my ministry of confirming the brethren (cf. Lk 22:32) I declare that the Church has no authority whatsoever to confer priestly ordination on women and that this judgment is to be definitively held by all the Church’s faithful. "

That, as they say, is that.

Your thoughts?

So does it take 66 votes or 67 to impeach a Pope?
