Syrian Trappist Nuns Say Western Powers and Factional Media Fuel War Propaganda
AsiaNews ^ | 3/5/18

In a written appeal, the religious systematically take apart the version of the conflict touted by governments, NGOs and international news organizations. In Ghouta east, jihadists attack the capital and use civilians as human shields. The Syrian government and people have a duty to defend themselves from external attacks. The conflict alone has undermined the coexistence between Christians and Muslims in the country.

Damascus (AsiaNews) - "We, the people who live in Syria, we are really exhausted and exasperated by this global indignation that issues blanket condemnations of people who defend their lives and their land". Because the victims of a bloody war now in its seventh year, are not only hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians, but also the truth and information too often enslaved by the interests of foreign governments and powers. These are the harsh words contained in a written appeal issued by the Syrian Trappist sisters, who have first-hand experience of the tragedy of the conflict.

In recent weeks, international bodies, Western chancelleries and large news networks have launched a frontal attack on the Damascus government and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, accusing them of deliberately targeting civilians trapped in Ghouta East, a rebel enclave in the suburbs of the capital. However, the religious say, it is from that area "that the attacks against the civilians who live in the part controlled by the government began, and not vice versa". Moreover, those in the area "who did not support the jihadists, were put in iron cages: men, women, hung outdoors and used as human shields".

The religious do not spare the neighbouring countries that have favoured the entry of "mercenaries" to fuel the conflict and the governments in the West who have trafficked with the jihadists to get oil below cost. "Today to tell Syria, the Syrian government......

Thank Obama and Clinton for the destructive wars in Libya, Syria, Iraq, and would have been worst of all - Egypt

Respect of a nation's sovereignty appears conditional on one thing - does the country in question have nukes?

Ukraine gave up the nukes on its territory for a promise of western protection from invasion - but didn't get it. Russia is now nibbling on the edges of Ukraine proper after gobbling up Crimea.

Libya's Gaddafi gave up his nuke program, only to be dragged through the streets at the obvious glee of HRC.

Iran has a nuclear program, and has not suffered a major overt attack.

Once Iraq had its nuclear enrichment program destroyed, it was later invaded on stories of chemical weapons and association with bin Ladin.

Syria, with no nuclear weapons program in place, subject to regular allegations of a chemical weapon program, has uninvited troops on its soil.

North Korea, with a successful nuclear weapons program and missile delivery systems, is being treated with kid gloves.

In conclusion, if I was the leader of a small country under fire for not being part of an international bank or other globalist tool, I'd make sure my nuclear weapons were ready and deliverable, if I wanted to maintain my sovereignty.

Bush I and II opened Pandora's Box. Desert Storm could get a pass but stopping outside of Baghdad was military idiocy. The second time around invading Iraq was one of the most asinine decisions and charades in American diplomatic and especially military history. My opinion has nothing to do with the anti-war left or WMDs. My point of contention goes directly with your point. A dictator has been found to be better than the alternative in every case. The insurgency in Iraq after a SPECTACULAR military victory is all on Bush. Obama is ISIS enough said. Libya and Syria are AMERICAN war crimes by the Obama Administration. It's laughable about "influence" when this country pored gas on the Mideast under Obama. We tried this crap in Ukraine also and inexplicably have let Iran do what it wants. American foreign policy is insane.

*** Exactly. Obama is responsible for the killing of Christians in Syria ***

Obama’s successor is guilty as hell in the continued devastation of Syria. One reason I voted for Trump was he said he US would get out of Syria. It seems that is no longer true, and the US wishes more troops there, keeps funneling weapons, and money to Al Qaeda, and even airlifted ISIS Leaders to Al Tanf.

Not looking forward to the reap what you sow part when it catches up to the US.
