The beatification Mass is set for 4 p.m. on Nov. 18 (tickets are no longer available) and will be broadcast on EWTN.
The beloved Fr. Solanus Casey will be beatified on Nov. 18 at Ford Field in Detroit.
The beatification Mass, scheduled for 4 p.m., is expected to draw many thousands of Catholics.
“The beatification is a remarkable moment in all of our lives and one to celebrate Father Solanus, whose compassion and attribution to miraculous cures have endeared him to those in Detroit and across the world,” said Father Michael Sullivan, Provincial Minister of the Capuchin Franciscan Province of St. Joseph. “We welcome as many as possible to be a part of it.”
“Not unlike the Silverdome Mass celebrated by Saint John Paul, this, too, will be a history-making liturgy. The beatification of Father Solanus Casey is an incomparable grace for the Church in the Archdiocese of Detroit and for the whole community. He is an inspiration to Catholics—and to all—of the power of grace to transform one’s life.”
The miracle attributed to Casey was received by a woman who prayed at his tomb in Detroit and was instantly cured her of her lifelong “incurable genetic skin disease,” reported the Michigan Catholic.
Among the thousands of healings attributed to Fr. Solanus during and after his lifetime, Pope Francis recognized the authenticity of this miracle required for the friar to be elevated from “venerable” to “blessed” after extensive study by the Vatican’s Congregation for the Causes of Saints, including panels of doctors and theologians.
The woman was visiting friends in Detroit and stopped at Fr. Solanus’ tomb to pray for the intentions of her family and friends. After her prayers, she felt a strong urge to ask for the friar’s intercession for herself, too, and instantly received a permanent visible healing.

A young woman had asked Fr. Solanus to pray for her, as her final exams in college were coming up. When she passed everything, she called on him to celebrate. Because it was a hot day, they went to the kitchen and got ice cream cones, and then went to his office. Then, he said, “Let’s walk in the garden awhile.” He put the ice cream cones in a desk drawer.
After about a half-hour, they returned. Fr. Solanus took the ice cream cones out of the desk drawer. They were still cold—still frozen solid.
I think he raised some people from the dead, too.
Fr. Solanus was ordained with another man—both of them ordained “simplex”—i.e., not allowed to preach or hear confessions because they did not excel in their studies. They both signed a promise not to seek faculties for preaching or to hear confessions.
Not long after, the other man sought such faculties, and they were granted. He went on to become superior of the Capuchins.
Fr. Solanus was known to the people as “the brother who says Mass.”
I have a Catholic Biblical school teacher whose grandmother was a sister of Father Casey who is going to Detroit for this ceremony.
His whole life was a living homily.

More seriously, since when does the Catholic Church deny the possibility of miracles? (Whether recounted in the Bible or in more recent times.)

There are also Catholics here who claim to be creationists but who absolutely refuse to get involved when their co-religionists are promoting "theistic evolution" and insulting creationists. I suppose they're looking at their watches or something.
These same "conservative Catholics" who insist that Genesis be interpreted in the light of "modern science," and who insist that the events of the books of Esther and Jonah never happened, nevertheless believe in magical virgins who give birth without a male and who believe their "saints" can do anything. You never see them subjecting them to the withering scorn of "modern science."
I personally believe it's a tactic to discredit the Torah and Na"KH in order to justify their alleged "supersession" by chrstianity.

Of course it is. Torah has more weight and authority than “modern science.” The only true way to interpret Genesis is the Oral Torah. The Noahide prohibition of idolatry includes the prohibition of creating a new religion. This includes the new religions of evolution, communism, democracy and so on and so forth.
I am not discrediting the Torah.
Every single time you or someone else posts "higher critical" or evolutionist interpretations you are discrediting the Torah.
Please don't embarrass yourself. You couldn't possibly not realize this.
