Turning Down ‘Gay Wedding’ Jobs the Same as Racism, Judge Rules

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota, September 21, 2017 (LifeSiteNews) – A federal judge has shot down a ‘pre-enforcement challenge” to Minnesota’s law that denies the right of Christian businesses and professionals to decline providing wedding services to gay couples.

“A government that tells you what you can’t say is bad enough. But a government which tells you what you must say is even worse,” said John Tedesco, lead attorney representing the plaintiffs. “You can’t force people to say things that violate their beliefs.”

But Chief District Judge John Tunheim disagreed with that principle in his lengthy 63-page ruling.

The judge said turning away gay and lesbian couples is “conduct akin to a ‘White Applicants Only’ sign.”

Preemptive filing to avoid legal jeopardy

Carl and Angel Larsen, owners of Telescope Media Group that has a clearly stated Christian mission, wanted to extend their company’s services to include wedding videography. But before doing so, they wanted to make sure they would not be placing their livelihood in jeopardy if they chose not to record same-sex “marriage” celebrations.

“[The Larsens] don’t want to be investigated, prosecuted, and possibly jailed simply for exercising their First Amendment rights,” the Alliance Defending Freedom website explained.

They need a good lawyer. I though most businesses had the right to refuse service, especially when running a non-essential business. No one is going to drop dead if this company does not take their business. It’s not like a doctor or AAA towing service during a flood.

You're born race or gender

You're not born gay

I guess we’re going to have to start offering Biblical wedding services only
Let the courts prohibit that

I think part of an NFL players job is to stand for the National Anthem. He can’t refuse to do that.

Hey judge moron ... should a Black church rent out its hall to the KKK? Isn’t denying KKK akin to “white people only”? Or is your brain that small to comprehend the concept?

The Larsens should follow the judge’s unconstitutional and unethical demands and agree to take such jobs for the negotiated fee . . . starting at $135,000 (coincidentally the fine levied against Sweet Cakes by Melissa). They are not refusing, so any thugs who target them can go hire the person they really want rather than persecuting another victim for having morals.

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 bars discrimination based on race, creed, national origin, and gender, BUT no mention is made regarding sexual orientation.

Homosexuality is NOT protected by law. It is is supported without law by the federal courts.

For the judge's education:

Catechism of the Catholic Church

2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered." They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

Our pastor gave up his state license to officiate state certified weddings. A man and woman can get married before God by the pastor but the couple must then get a marriage before a clerk or whatever for the state requirements.

Pastor increased his liability/legal insurance.
