Thanks to Pope Francis I'm No Longer a 'Neo-Catholic'
The Remnant ^ | March 22, 2017 | Petra Perkov

Posted on 03/27/2017 1:58:09 AM PDT by BlessedBeGod

Three months is not such a long period of time, but it was more than enough for me to turn my life around. All I knew and all I was came tumbling down like a house of cards one late evening in the fall of 2016. And it started with Pope Francis.

I was born in the 80s, raised a Catholic in a 'modern, ecumenical' Catholic faith. However, it would be unfair for me to blame the post-Vatican II period for my sinful ways. I hold myself accountable, more than anyone or anything else, for not taking the Faith seriously.

I was a Catholic on the fence, Catholic in name only. In other words, I was a disgrace. Sure, I prayed to God (when I needed something), went to Confession (once a year), refrained from sin (when it wasn't too inconvenient) and believed (in a false version of God).

Clearly, I was living a lie.

Picking and choosing those bits of the Church's teaching that suited me, while completely ignoring the others, I was quickly becoming a disciple of Satan without even realizing it.

And so, as an ardent follower of Satan, I found myself watching some Protestant videos on YouTube. Then it happened. By the Grace of God, I stumbled upon a pretty interesting Protestant video on Pope Francis.

As a modern, semi-liberal Catholic (thank God, I have always been very much pro-life), I had thought that Pope Francis was pretty amazing. I never knew much about him, but I quickly bought into the whole 'mercy mission' of our Pope. Watching this Protestant video bashing Pope Francis, I felt my heart sink. For although I liked some Protestants, there was something deep inside me, buried beneath the layers of modernism, that was truly Catholic. I had always known that the Catholic Church was the only true church.

Still, these Protestants were right about everything regarding Pope Francis. The video in question analyzed the obviously outrageous prayer exchange between our Pope and the prosperity gospel fraud Kenneth Copeland.

My heart was racing like crazy. What is Pope Francis doing? What's going on?

And then, a question crossed my mind: Is the Catholic Church really the One True Church?

I needed to find out what was happening. Is it possible that Catholics support the actions of our Pope?

This was the beginning of the end. The end of the old me and the first step on my journey home. For, while I was searching for facts regarding Pope Francis and Catholicism, a whole new world opened up to me: the world of traditional Catholics (aka faithful Catholics).

I learned abouth the Church history, the errors of modernism, the rotten fruits of the Vatican II, the few remaining faithful bishops and cardinals, Amoris Laetitia, the Latin Mass and the false mercy. But, most importantly, I learned about hell.

I had never known about hell. Sure, there was a vague concept somewhere at the back of my mind of what hell might look like. You know, a place where some really nasty paedophiles and serial killers go. Mortal sin – what's that?

Metaphorically speaking, it was Pope Francis who led me to hell. His actions and words became so outrageously liberal and erroneous, that I could no longer ignore the whole 'let's-tolerate-everyone-and-everything-in-the-name-of-mercy“ attitude, let alone mistake it for the real Church teaching. I needed to know what the Church really is all about. I needed to know what hell is. Thanks to Pope Francis, I learned all this and so much more.

Had Pope Francis never been elected, would I have changed my ways? Only God knows.

The whole point of this story is, that even in the midst of the unprecedented crisis in Church history, the Holy Spirit still governs the Catholic Church. Sinners are being converted every day, some in spite of the crisis in the Church, others because of it.

Thank you, Holy Spirit, for always guiding us.

Forgive us, Our Lord Jesus, for we have sinned.

Have mercy on our poor souls, God the Father.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us.

Paul’s own words in 1 Cor 10 speak volumes about the Mass...

I invite you to read the Catholic Bible, which is the original, and compare it to yours.

O... K...

1 Corinthians 10       Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition (DRA)

For I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea.

And all in Moses were baptized, in the cloud, and in the sea:

And did all eat the same spiritual food,

And all drank the same spiritual drink; (and they drank of the spiritual rock that followed them, and the rock was Christ.)

...that only the President of the Church, the Presiding High Priest, is sustained as Prophet, Seer, and Revelator for the Church, and he alone has the right to receive revelations for the Church, either new or amendatory, or to give authoritative interpretations of scriptures that shall be binding on the Church...

In conclusion let us summarize this grand key, these “Fourteen Fundamentals in Following the Prophet”, for our salvation depends on them.

1. The prophet is the only man who speaks for the Lord in everything.
2. The living prophet is more vital to us than the standard works.
3. The living prophet is more important to us than a dead prophet.
4. The prophet will never lead the church astray.
5. The prophet is not required to have any particular earthly training or credentials to speak on any subject or act on any matter at any time.
6. The prophet does not have to say “Thus Saith the Lord,” to give us scripture.
7. The prophet tells us what we need to know, not always what we want to know.
8. The prophet is not limited by men’s reasoning.
9. The prophet can receive revelation on any matter, temporal or spiritual.
10. The prophet may advise on civic matters.
11. The two groups who have the greatest difficulty in following the prophet are the proud who are learned and the proud who are rich.
12. The prophet will not necessarily be popular with the world or the worldly.
13. The prophet and his counselors make up the First Presidency—the highest quorum in the Church.
14. The prophet and the presidency—the living prophet and the First Presidency—follow them and be blessed—reject them and suffer.

I testify that these fourteen fundamentals in following the living prophet are true. If we want to know how well we stand with the Lord then let us ask ourselves how well we stand with His mortal captain—how close do our lives harmonize with the Lord’s anointed—the living Prophet—President of the Church, and with the Quorum of the First Presidency.

Mormonism

  • claims itself to uniquely be "the Church"
  • claims a unique and authoritative priesthood, thereby denying the royal priesthood of all believers
  • adds to the Holy Bible (with the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price)
  • accepts multiple satanic visions as being from God
  • undermines the power of Jesus' blood by its view of personal suffering for the expiation of sins
  • sings praise songs about Joseph Smith, Jr.
  • has strange doctrines regarding marriage (polygamy accepted in early days)
  • believes in God the mother (who has conceived multitudes of spirit children)
  • claims the head of their group speaks infallibly at times
  • redefines "saint" to mean a living, breathing Mormon, instead of a bible-defined child of God

  • accepts and spreads "another gospel" (Gal. 1:8,9)- good works, water baptism and church membership
  • professes itself as Christian; Jesus as God, Savior, Lord and Son of God; Jesus' atoning death and resurrection
  • doctrines are sending millions to Hell and they need to be openly refuted with Scripture

Catholicism

  • claims itself to uniquely be "the Church"
  • claims a unique and authoritative priesthood, thereby denying the royal priesthood of all believers
  • adds to the Holy Bible (with sacred tradition)

  • accepts multiple satanic visions as being from God
  • undermines the power of Jesus' blood by its view of personal suffering for the expiation of sins
  • sings praise songs about Mary

  • has strange doctrines regarding marriage (celibacy still practiced among its clergy)
  • believes in the mother of God (who is the sinless Queen of Heaven)

  • claims the head of their group speaks infallibly at times
  • redefines "saint" to mean a physically dead Catholic who was afterwards "canonized," instead of a bible-defined child of God
  • accepts and spreads "another gospel" (Gal. 1:8,9) - good works, the sacraments, Mary and church membership
  • professes itself as Christian; Jesus as God, Savior, Lord and Son of God; Jesus' atoning death and resurrection
  • doctrines are sending hundreds of millions to Hell and they need to be openly refuted with Scripture
  • teaches and practices bowing before and kissing statues
  • WORSHIPS the consecrated communion wafer as God
  • claims Mary is their life, sweetness, hope and most gracious advocate (as revealed in the Rosary)
  • claims Mary was raised bodily into Heaven
  • claims they get to Jesus by first going to Mary

You are forgetting that Christ stated emphatically that the Holy Spirit would lead the Church into deeper knowledge as time went on.

Your chosen religion teaches that it is MARY who is bringing the NEW good news.

Oh?

That is NOT what the book says!

But the Paraclete, the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring all things to your mind, whatsoever I shall have said to you.

Take this, all of you, and drink from it, for this is the chalice of my Blood, the Blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins.” (a combination of Mark 14:24; Matt 26:27b-28; cf. Luke 22:17, 20; 1 Cor 11:25)

The pouring out of blood is a reference to the OT when the blood of the sacrifice was offered to cover sin.

The KEY point: The Blood was NEVER consumed.

This is why Christianity rejects the false teaching of the RCC that one must "drink the blood" to be saved.

One comes to salvation through faith in Christ...believing that He did shed His blood as a one time sacrifice for our sins.

You are forgetting that Christ stated emphatically that the Holy Spirit would lead the Church into deeper knowledge as time went on. New concepts would be revealed and the nuances and foreshadowings became clearer.

That no more justifies the stated contrasts btwn the church of Rome and that of the NT church anymore than it does the Mormons, who essentially make the same claim, and renders your church to be an autocratic organization that is not subject to only wholly inspired substantive body of Truth.

I invite you to read the Catholic Bible, which is the original, and compare it to yours. See all the words that were changed or deleted from yours. You will be amazed.

Melian, I am a former (by the grace of God) faithful Mass-going RC CCD teacher and lector who actually read and studied the official (for America) Catholic Bible, so that is not going to help you. Traditional RCs even attack that Bible for good reason , while their favorite, the DRB, has very few differences from the KJV (which it influenced), apart from the long disputed deutros which only became binding ass part of the canon after the death of Luther , and only offers support for perhaps two RC distinctives, while contradicting other RC teaching as well as Scripture.

In addition, if you can find the original Bible you will be very famous, since everyone else only has copies of copies. And the Vulgate had so many versions and issues that it resulted in the first edition of the Latin Vulgate authorised by a pope, that of the scandalous works of Pope Sixtus V, the Sistine Vulgate which likely resulted the murder of its fanatical papal translator, besides only blaming copyists for its many errors. If you can find one you can be very rich (and hunted).

With all the Catholic Church’s history, tradition, and memories, it is the religion best equipped to practice exegesis (the process of drawing out the meaning from a text in accordance with the context and discoverable meaning of its author).

But, of course, Cousin Billy Bob, who got religion yesterday, thinks he knows more than two thousand years of saints and theologians.

A comical if not sad reply.

Catholics have taken one verse out of John 2 and have built a whole belief around it centered on Mary. Talk about eisegesis.

“I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth,
and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts,
than by any other book.” (History of the Church, 4:461.)

“The most correct of any book on earth” was a bold statement to make in Joseph Smith’s day,
let alone in our day of sophisticated publication.

The statement is still applicable, for the Lord has never rescinded it nor cast doubt upon it.

>>But, of course, Cousin Billy Bob, who got religion yesterday, thinks he knows more than two thousand years of saints and theologians.<<

A comical if not sad reply. Catholics have taken one verse out of John 2 and have built a whole belief around it centered on Mary. Talk about eisegesis.

I'm afraid our FRoman friends do not seem to understand that the "saints and theologians" throughout the history of the Christian faith WERE the Billy Bobs of their day. What makes the musings and reasonings of one better equipped or any less true than someone today who is led by the SAME Holy Spirit? For a religion that has for centuries played eeny, meeny, miny, moe with the so-called church "fathers" and their doctrines, to assert that they have the "fullness of the faith" while others have a lesser version is all just a lot of silly one-up-man ship - immature boasting that dishonors Christ. What ALL believers are held to - what the early church fathers all held to - is that the word of God is the arbiter of what makes up the rule of faith for Christians.

Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly—mere infants in Christ. I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans? For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are you not mere human beings?

What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building. By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. (I Corinthians 3:1-11)

The one question no Catholic has been able to answer this far: which ECF is valid. For to your point, they contradict what the RCC claims as unanimous belief.

Which was why i called is scandalous. But i wish it was documented better.

You mean to be deep in (Biblical versus later) history is to cease to be Catholic? Indeed if wholly inspired Scripture is your standard and you want to follow the manifest Truth. But which means find some fault in Protestantism as well, and ourselves.

You mean early church fathers in Scripture, which held that to be the only substantive wholly inspired body of Truth, to which their own preaching of the word of God was subject to.

A few later so-called "fathers" may have professed this but overall they deviated from it to varying degrees, if not to the point that souls could not be saved, and the body of Christ continue.
