Sheesh, haven’t you people every heard of Zillow?
Monsignor Pope Ping!
They were mostly like what the Navajo Indians built and lived in for centuries..........
Except that there was no such place as Palestine - Jesus lived in Roman occupied Israel.
Hadrian changed the name to Syria Palestine and it was referred to as Palestine at various times up until 1948. IMRIC.
I welcome sources to the contrary.
Since it was named Judea before Hadrian then we can easily conclude the Jews were there first.
Syria Palestina
In light of this thread http://freerepublic.com/focus/news/3536677/posts I’d like to know what typical floorspace in such houses was.
Remember: back then, a typical home had no HVAC, running water, drainage, glass windows, phones, TV, electricity, nor any other “amenity” which the Left wants to prohibit anyone (poor especially) from _not_ having.
Houses hadn’t been invented yet so they had to
live in hovels.
Jesus lived and died decades before Hadrian was the Roman emperor. So, the area was not called Palestine until after the time of Jesus.
I am aware of both Jesus and the emperor Hardian and tiers they were on earth. but thanx for the reminder. The issue was that there was never a Palestine and that is what i addressed. If the Romans were in charge and hey callee dit Palestina then there was a Palestina.
YEARS
Old Jewish joke: Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Chairman Yasir Arafat are finally sitting down to negotiate. Sharon opened with a 'biblical' tale.
"Before the Israelites came to the Promised Land and settled here, Moses led them for 40 years through the desert. One day, miraculously, a stream appeared. They drank and then decided to bathe. When Moses came out of the water, he found all his clothes missing."
" 'Who took my clothes?' Moses asked. 'It was the Palestinians,' replied the Israelites."
"Wait a minute," interrupted Arafat. "There were no Palestinians during the time of Moses!"
"All right," smirked Sharon, "now that we've got that settled, let's start talking."
I think he was referring to the excavation site.
LOL!
Luke has “Ioudaia” (Judaea) for the area governed by Pilate and “Galilaia” (Galilee) for the northern area under Herod Antipas the tetrarch, but Herodotus in the 5th century BC already mentions “Syrie Palaistine” (Palestinian Syria), but it isn’t clear what the boundaries were—whether it is just the area where the Philistines had lived or a larger area. This was during the period of Persian rule. “Palestine” comes from “Philistines” (Peleset). Since the Philistines had long since assimilated by the fifth century perhaps the name had been used by the earlier empires which controlled the region.
Most likely.
They had the same building materials and same climate in both places so it’s no wonder their homes would tend to look the same..................
Between 300-400 square ft in a typical village house.
