A multi-site megachurch based in North Carolina has decided to sever its ties with the Boy Scouts of America over the youth group's new transgender policy.
Manna Church of Fayetteville is planning to stop sponsoring Boy Scout Troop 957 sometime this summer, according to local media outlet WNCN CBS North Carolina.
"Church officials at Manna Church have been very tight-lipped about this decision. However, a Cub Scout leader told CBS North Carolina that Manna Church participation with Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts would end this coming summer," reported WNCN.
A spokesperson for Manna Church told The Christian Post on Wednesday they had no further comment at this time.
Last month, the Boy Scouts of America announced they were going to allow girls who self-identified as boys to become members of their organization.

"For more than 100 years, the Boy Scouts of America, along with schools, youth sports and other youth organizations, have ultimately deferred to the information on an individual's birth certificate to determine eligibility for our single-gender programs," stated the Scouts.
"However, that approach is no longer sufficient as communities and state laws are interpreting gender identity differently, and these laws vary widely from state to state."
As with the Scouts' recent decisions on allowing openly gay members and scout leaders, the move did provide exemptions for religious groups opposed to transgenderism.
In a statement emailed to CP, Effie Delimarkos, director of communications for the Boy Scouts of America, stressed this point of religious exemption for the church-sponsored troops.
"Our religious chartered organizations continue to have the right to make decisions based on religious beliefs and we will work with families to find local scouting units that are the best fit for their children," stated Delimarkos.
"If a religious organization declines to accept a youth or adult application based on their religious beliefs, we ask that they please notify their local council so that a unit open to accepting the individual can be offered as an option."
Another spokesman for the BSA told CP that the youth organization was unaware of any other churches that had decided to sever ties since the announcement of the new transgender policy.
"Over the past few weeks, a variety of religious institutions, including The United Methodist Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Union for Reform Judaism, Catholic Committee on Scouting, and the Association of Baptist Scouters, have shared letters of support acknowledging this decision does not impact how their organizations deliver Scouting," explained the spokesman.

The Boy Scouts gave the church sponsored troops the ability to approve and reject leaders, so many churches thought they could keep LBGT leaders out and continue as things had been.
This transgender rule, though, doesn’t have the same out - so you can refuse a homosexual leader if a Catholic church but not a girl who says she’s a boy.
My thoughts exactly. I’m a Trail Life USA troopmaster. We’re not political and n any fashion but certainly lean conservative. We provide a scouting program in the way Baden-Powell envisioned.

My priority is my Wolf Den. If our Pack is a going concern for the next three years, I am with those boys. A Scout is Loyal, no matter what anyone else does.
I doubt my mother presented my birth certificate to anyone to get me into Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, or Boy Scout Camp. Things we're simpler then. Boys knew they were boys, and so did anyone they presented themselves to. Girls who wished they were boys might have played schoolyard baseball with us but they never thought they could sell themselves as boys.

If THIS was the final issue which crossed the line, I have to question this church’s spiritual credentials.
But you’ll be feeding the transgender beast by continuing with the sponsorship.
Consider that rule dead as a disingenuous buffer to blunt the shock inflicted. They didn't mean it, and if a sodomite and/or his activist parents want in a church-sponsored troop, the homos will win.
I’m not responsible for what the organization does. I’m only responsible for five boys. The chance of a girl turning up claiming to be a boy is statistically zero (though not absolutely zero, as my doctor points out when he orders tests). We often include girls-claiming-to-be-girls, especially when we’re doing a craft or going outside, because there are always sisters around.
Good for you - my thoughts ae that instead of bailing out, Scout leaders and sponsoring organizations should stay with it and raise hell with the national organization. Let them feel the heat. If you boycott anything let it be organizations that encourage this deviant stuff. I am an Eagle Scout for over 70 years. I don’t want to see Scouting go down the tubes without a knock-down, drag-out fight!!!
I have a feeling that the BSA execs hired a “consultant” to come up with this strategy. Never hire a consultant: they are NOT invested in the problem they are hired to analyze and solve, and they have no finger on the pulse of the organization’s culture.
Regardless, scouting represents low-tech skills and culture in an increasingly high-tech-interest generation. I chalk a lot of the loss of interest up to that. Who’s interested in knots when we have zip ties?
We talked about it when the B S A idiotically decided to accommodate sodomites. I said then that I’m not going to deprive my little boys because of homosexuals. Do people quit sports because of homosexuals? If they did, there would be no youth sports.
I’m there for my boys and their parents.
Good for them. This should be a given.
Another thing that has had an effect is that uniforms were cool up until the 1960s.
Respectfully, I’d suggest that your loyalty to the boys overrides loyalty to an organization. Consider looking at the alternatives.
