Could Pope Francis Be a Secret Protestant?

Posted on 12/04/2016 7:15:49 AM PST by pinochet

Pope Francis put up a statue of Martin Luther in a prominent place in the Vatican. He then received a delegation of Lutherans, who presented him with a copy of Luther's 95 Thesis. He then put on a blue scarf, representing the Lutheran tradition, at his meeting with the Lutherans.

See:

http://www.traditioninaction.org/RevolutionPhotos/A700-Luther.htm

Luther, who was historically considered a Catholic heretic and apostate, has received more honor from Pope Francis than most Catholic saints. On the other hand, conservative Catholic cardinals like Cardinal Burke and Cardinal Sarah, are treated like dirt.

What more evidence do we need, to prove that Francis is a secret liberal Protestant, who unexpectedly found himself holding the position of the papacy?

And yet the Four Cardinals of the Dubia have said nothing against it. That’s because they are just as much a Vatican II ecumenist as Francis is.

What incentive is there for a Catholic to remain obedient to the church's teachings, if the greatest heretic receives more honor than the greatest saints?

Faithful Catholics must cling to their Catholic Faith now more than ever.

I grew up in what became an ELCA church and was dropped from their rolls a few years after it dawned on them I wasn't going to set foot in it again. My mother persevered, assuming (!) that the place would "correct its course" any day. She waited 20-odd years and finally realized that they were steering for the iceberg on purpose. She hopped over to the LCMS church in town and has never looked back.

MLK a saint of the Roman Catholic Church? Sounds pretty far-fetched but then again St. Margaret of Scotland Church in Morristown, NJ has a stained glass window of Dr. King.

You’re not the only one to conjecture his allegiance lies with the Lutherans.

Perhaps with elca or other lib lutherans, not even close to conservative ones.

he caused irreparable damage to the Catholic Church.

The Catholic church did the damage to itself.

Could Pope Francis Be a Secret Protestant?

I asked a friend of mine who is Lutheran.

She said, "he is their problem, we are not claiming him."

As for me, sorry, you elected him. We told you 1600 or so years ago that this was a bad idea.

To the best of my knowledge it would be highly unlikely/unusual for a non-Catholic to be recognized as a saint by the RCC, but not impossible.

I could be wrong.

man you musta had a chutzpah latte for breakfast

I’m southern baptist and we don’t think about this 16th century stuff so many Catholics here obsess over

I keep up cause ima pseudo intellectual ..lol...not for religious nanner nanner bragging rights

I hate to be the new bearer hoss but your average southern baptist is exponentially more conservative and a more reliable voter than your averaged Catholic

Most...yes I said most..Catholics I know off this board just pay lip service to their born faith...like most Jews

It’s just how it is

You wish Francis was a southern baptist of TX/TN church of Christ ....he’d be on level with JP2 or Benedict

No you guys own Francis the talking messianic humanist all by your lonesomes

Call your Cardinal

I will throw you a yummy King Cake though

Fran does talk like a Reformed Lutheran

Social justice warrior to the core

I don’t like it either

It’s good for humanity to have a good pope

No kidding

The OP misses the point of Gods word

The pope could be a dang murderer and you don’t give up on Gods word

One of my preachers started sweating the congregation for building fun and bragging about last year when I ran over and he sent the 300,000 to Africa

I was like what about folks need help here or better yet pay down your debt mister

We left and went to another Baptist church

But we sure didn’t throw in the towel

I hate to say it but at least one in five Catholics on this forum are just as odious

I never ever read so much garbage till I came here

But non Catholics who live in high Catholic population areas freep me welcome to the club my man this is how it is
I have around 25 Catholics in mine and wife’s family...they don’t act like this and we go to each other’s services when it’s proper

I love e a high Christmas mass

I want to know who teaches this snotty dogma I see here

Being a good Christian has zero to do with being on the first string team

You can eschew all churches but if you accept Christ and try to live the life you’re on your way to what matters

Some Catholics act like it’s just membership ...that’s Satans work that sort of thinking
It’s silly like more like a club to some than a church

I can go to any of two dozen threads a day by a handful of zealots and it’s the exact same nonsense

Too bad OP glommed a worthy nick...

No, because he doesn't take Protestantism seriously.

If he did, he might have behaved differently.

The Reformation Quincentennial is like our Civil War Centennial was: people figure it happened so long ago that that they can be nice to each other and just pretend it was a big misunderstanding.

Not disagreeing with you on any of that. I saw the title and it irritated me.

We get attacked here so I avoid these threads as much as possible.
I could easily post on so many but responses are nasty and demeaning.
Have no time for Waring Christians.

BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

That’s desperation to try to explain away what’s happening in the Catholic church.

Maybe a mainline Protestant, but certainly NOT a Christian.

Hey, it’s YOUR college of cardinals who put him in place.

Supposedly guided by the Holy Spirit.

He’s all yours.

This indeed was the greatest blunder of Francis and the worst ever made by recent popes. Luther was not only an heretic, he caused irreparable damage to the Catholic Church.

To the One True Church that is supposedly protected by the Holy Spirit?

Then it's not the OTC after all, is it?
