Atheist gives his theory on the origin of the universe at the Vatican
Call Me Jorge ^ | November 25, 2016

“Before we understand science, it is natural to believe that God created the universe. But now science offers a more convincing explanation. What I meant by 'we would know the mind of God' is, we would know everything that God would know, if there were a God, which there isn't. I'm an atheist.”

— Stephen Hawking —

Surprise! Surprise! God doesn’t matter!

What’s an atheist doing speaking at the Vatican?

In the beginning God, or with some folks “In the beginning there was nothing and then it exploded.” I’ll stick with God.

yeah, well im glad you like

...believing in God is understandable difficult for some people (indeed, we are taught that faith is a gift)

but... believing the entire vast intricate complex universe (and we) all blew into being...from nothing...with no initial substance, energy, design, cause, or creator...
is much harder to swallow, believe. Indeed, it defies all logic, it sounds completely irrational. At least the existence of a creator-god is rational, whether one believes in it or not. A totally self-creating, organizing, and designing universe that came out of nowhere and from nothing at all....................that’s nuts, imho. At least, it is a lot harder to belive in, requires a great leap of faith, than saying you think there’s a God.

imho. worth about what you paid for it, less taxes and fees

For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”

agreed. ‘getting something from nothing’ only exists in leftist political theology...and we know that’s warped as hell and does not work anyways ha

Absolutely nothing can happen without a force behind it. Nothing.

This just about says it all!

2 Timothy 3 (KJV)

1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as their’s also was.

10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,

11 Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.

12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

Beautiful. Get a load of this nonsense: “Be Thankful For The Universe That Created You”

Hawking is a brilliant man, trapped in a diseased, ravaged body. And I think that's why he is an atheist. It's an intellect trapped in a static shell, with nothing to do but perform the mental calisthenics of how the universe exists, not the from where and why it exists. Only cold, Vulcan logic exists in his Matrix-like world. *SMH*

"now science offers a more convincing explanation."

OK, Dr. Hawking, I'll give you the "Big Bang". I'll even give you the "Inflation" after the Big Bang (where your laws of science DIDN'T apply).

So, now tell me: What happened BEFORE the Big Bang?

Oh, and Hawking’s crummy science is crap too.

His black holes theory is coming apart due to quantum radiation.

The Big Bang is unraveling and will be finally overthrown in the next 10-20 years if not sooner.

Science depends ultimately on common sense. Hawking has none.

For good measure I'll throw in:

Proverbs 14:12 - There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.

Hawking is one sloppy philosopher (the “Ph” in his “PhD”) if he imagines that science offers an explanation for existence.

I am unfamiliar with any evidence that the Big Bang is unraveling. There is definite evidence that the universe is expanding and has been for a long time. But if you believe in the Big Bang, and I do, you still need an ultimate cause. You need a Big Banger. If nothing existed, someone or something outside of the universe had to cause the Bang in the first place. It is the principle of causality

the Big Bang theory is not only difficult to believe, but it is far far MORE difficult to believe than a God-creator

...

Given what we observe, the Big Bang theory is about as close to fact as we can get. Why you are implying that God and the Big Bang are mutually exclusive I don’t know. In my view we are observing how God did it.

Right on.

The self-deception of the atheist is that he thinks he knows all, and fails to acknowledge there are things he does not know. To “KNOW” there is no God means there is nothing outside of your knowledge.

Self-deception at its worst. And arrogance at its worst.

An agnostic is at least honest with himself - he knows he does not know.

One of the best ministries I’ve ever heard (I’ve heard thousands - many by some of the best & deepest Christians of the last 50 years - and I’ve given hundreds myself) was by a humble (but famous) furniture maker whose main point was this: “The one thing necessary for a man to come to know God isn’t faith. It is honesty.” Honest with himself.

I do believe that, because honesty with one’s self will lead to a knowledge of one’s poor state and condition, and he will turn to God.

Hawking is a genius - but as some genius’s are - an arrogant one.

He will know there is a God soon - he certainly cannot have that many years left......we should pray for him.....

Hawking is part of that new breed of scientist that aims to flatter an audience without intellectually challenging them.

Costs money to keep that fancy tech he depends on operating.

By the way, he’s lasted a darn long time with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, hasn’t he? Wonder what his secret is, that decades past the usually-fatal date of a progressive-onset, incurable degenerative neurological disease, he manages to not only survive, but still be capable of international travel and events.
