Christ has promised to be with the Church until the end of time and to make sure that we do not err in doctrine.

You will recall Paul had to correct Peter.

He also had to correct a good number of the churches.

It is easy to fall into error if one does not rightly handle the word.

Paul also had to correct a good number of the (Catholic) churches, since there was only the Catholic church at that time in history. So I’ve been informed repeatedly.

Contrast your absolute fallible opinion on salvation with St Paul.
Like the apostle Paul I am working out my salvation in fear and trembling (Phil. 2:12), with hopeful confidence in the promises of Christ (Rom. 5:2, 2 Tim. 2:11–13).”

Some people believe only PART of the Bible. They CHOOSE to ignore some parts, as in Matthew 19:3-12 and Mark 10:2-12, Jesus' words against marry-divorce-remarry and so on...the "Henry VIII" model.
The words of Jesus aren't like a menu, are they, where we can pick and choose? We trust ALL of His words, ALL of them.

FEAR and TREMBLING and hopeful confidence in the promises of Christ. If we can't trust the promises of Jesus, ALL OF THEM, then whom can be trust?
Well put, ADSUM.

All unrighteousness is sin. People have biases based on their understanding and emotion. There are many stripes and love covers a multitude of sins.

It sure does.

I don’t believe it involved Catholic Church doctrine.

And some people ignore the Word when contrasted with their churches practices.

In the Scriptures. Read Matthew.

We do read the scriptures, a lot...Peter never went to Rome...No where in the scriptures does it even hint at Peter going to Rome...

To all Freepers taking issue with me on this thread. You should investigate the Roman Church.

All these different opinions fracture the body of Christ. We need a decider to whom we all listen.

We have investigated the Roman church as well as the bible, for years...They are not compatible with each other...That's why we reject your religion...

It does show the first “pope” needed correction.

Read your sixth paragraph and note your third sentence. You are a double-minded person unable to see your own contradiction. JESUS told them to NOT BE CARNALLY MINDED: focusing on the physical bread and wine rather than the SPIRITUAL MANNA that was incarnate in His flesh and blood is the very same reason why the seekers after signs turned away. BUT NOT CATHOLIC APOLOGISTS, they want the carnal meaning because it feeds their inner secret pride You are insisting on reading the portion in carnal terms not spiritual terms. Read your own post again! You are contradicting your own flawed reasoning!

And once again, the Body Jesus now occupies IN HEAVEN is a glorifed body. It is the creature/carnal body which has the life of the creature distributed by the blood. The blood is not The Life. THE LIFE IS IN THE BLOOD. The blood Jesus had in His creature body was sprinkled upon the Mercy Seat, to cover the sins of the world. You will never rank so important that you can drink the actual blood of the Creature Jesus to get His soul and divinity in you. That is the CATHOLIC blasphemy ... and yes, I reject that completely. I do, however, break bread and sip a fine wine IN REMEMBRANCE of the work JESUS did for you and me. He is my Lord and Savior, not my snack for re-upping.

I realize that you have trouble accepting Catholic Doctrine.

There was only one bloody death on the cross.

The Sacrifice of the Mass is a non bloody sacrifice that Jesus mysteriously allows the Catholic priest to perform Transubstantiation of the Bread and Wine into the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.

According to the Bible, Christians gathered to partake in the “breaking of the bread” (Acts 2:42, 2:46, 20:17) on the first day of the week, the “Lord’s Day” (Acts 20:7, 1 Cor. 16:2). Sunday is the first day of the week, and also referred to by early Christian sources as “The Lord’s Day” because it is the day that Christ rose from the dead.

ST Paul in 1 Cor. 11:23-33).
For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same way He took the cup also after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.

Again, the Early Church Fathers dealt with the heretics of the day;Ignatius warns them about the Gnostics, writing:

They abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer, because they confess not the Eucharist to be the flesh of our Saviour Jesus Christ, which suffered for our sins, and which the Father, of His goodness, raised up again. Those, therefore, who speak against this gift of God, incur death in the midst of their disputes.

It does show the first “pope” needed correction.

The CURRENT pope needs correction, someone needs to disabuse him of his apparent love of socialism and humanist religion. He is a scandal to the faithful and a stumbling block to those outside of the Church.

You ignore what a catholic priest says and just regurgitate the usual talking points. Amazing.

Your reading is lacking the first three chapters of The Revelation. Or you are willfully disregarding the TRUTH therein regarding the several churches addressed.

Paul, inspired by The Holy Spirit, asserted Peter is the Apostle to the JEWS, whereas Paul is to the Gentiles. I wonder, do Catholics consider themselves the ‘real’ Jews so that The Holy Inspiration to Paul; is correct to their liking?

In-spite of individual sins, Jesus promised to stay with us till the end and ensure that our doctrine was the Truth of Jesus.

Jesus promised to stay with us 'believers', not the Catholic religion...And NO he did nothing to ensure Catholic doctrine was true or accurate...The real fact is Jesus challenged us believers to follow the correct doctrine layed out in the scriptures...

Wow! Now you won't even look up the meaning of ‘remembrance’, so that you can continue in the blasphemy of pretending you eat Jesus to get His soul and His divinity in your via your alimentary tract.

Sadly, you don't see that for what it is, the most carnal misuse of What JESUS TAUGHT to show the spiritual essence of what He was about to do on the Cross. The passage in John 6 is not about The Lord's Table, but catholiciism insists it be carnally applied!

The Sacrifice of the Mass is a non bloody sacrifice that Jesus mysteriously allows the Catholic priest to perform Transubstantiation of the Bread and Wine into the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.

Then it's useless killing because without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins.

And if it's a bloodless sacrifice, then it's not one and the same as the sacrifice of Calvary because that was a bloody sacrifice.

And if the sacrifice of the mass is a bloodless one, then where does the blood that Catholics claim they drink come from?
