Having a few hundred rules is better than having 30,000 churches.

All of it is from St. Thomas except the explanation in this type of brackets [ ] which I think was added by the translator:

St. Thomas Aquinas on loss of jurisdiction by heretics:

Summa, 2a 2ae, q. 39, art. 3. (Utrum schismatici habeant aliquam potestatem)

“...Potestas autem iurisdictionis est quae ex simplici iniunctione hominis confertur; et talis potestas non immobiliter adhaeret; unde in schismaticis et haereticis non manet; unde non possunt nec absolvere, nec excommunicare, nec indulgentias facere, aut aliquid huiusmodi; quod si fecerint, nihil est actum.”

(Whether schismatics have any power.)

“...The power of jurisdiction, however [as opposed to the power of Orders, which he has just discussed], is that [power] which is conferred simply by the injunction of man; and this power does not adhere immovably; therefore it does not remain in schismatics and heretics. Hence they can neither absolve, nor excommunicate, nor grant indulgences, or anything of this sort. If they do this, the act is null.”

This will ultimately unfold on its own. VC2 was a reaction to the ineffective VC1, which was an ineffective reaction to the, um, Protestant Reformation. Bringing up Traditionalism to my existing clergy, indeed, resulted in defensiveness and a little bit, frankly, of Projection ("THEY are the rebels!").

Thankfully, I remain in Communion. But I am being self-serving. My praise is done in my home, and I hate that.

Having a few hundred rules is better than having 30,000 churches.

I like to think of it as 30,000 different flavors of one church. Roman Catholics being one of those flavors.

I despise Francis, and pray that he dies in his sleep tonight

Jeff, just be open to God’s Grace. It does take time.

The author of this article did not hold the Papal See as vacant either until about 15 years ago.

Work and pray for the restoration of the Church.

Not that I would not enjoy toasting marshmallows at some bonfires.

I have Summa Theologica on my tablet. In conference with Priest and Deacon, it was stated, almost in unison, that Pope Francis (and VC2, for that matter) were preferential to the dichotomy of being "pastoral" VERSUS being "doctrinal".

Going, therefore, to all nations, deserves both?

On the contrary, The Council of Trent and the Society of Jesus were both extremely effective against the Protestant Revolt. The problem lay in the dictum of the religion of the ruler being decreed as the religion of his subjects. It was to the financial and power benefit of princelings and assorted nobility to apostasize in order to seize Church property in their fiefdoms.

Canons and Decrees of the Council of Trent

The Vatican Council of 1869-1870 that issued the exact definition of papal infallibility, while directed at the errors of Protestantism and Freemasonry in that regard, was brought about by the secular insurrection and overthrow of the Papal States by Freemasonry.

Bergoglio has been stating lately that V-2 is doctrinal.

His dictum is to ignore ALL doctrine unless it comes from him or someone of whom he approves, i.e a fellow Marxist and heretic.

I am a Catholic and have gone to Catholic School, and when Pope Benedict left, Francis came along and I have not nor did I feel he was a true Pope. I don’t care what the Cardinals say, I don’t care what the rules of the Church say, Francis is ‘Peter the Roman’ to me...

I have not nor will I follow man’s advise on something as important as this, thus I have prayed about this and my answer is my answer and I feel that God is trying to say it to all members...Humans do not rule Humans, God rules Humans and this Francis is of the New World Order...

God rules Humans and this Francis is of the New World Order...

Very good way of putting it.

Just a note, if that prophecy of Saint Malachy is genuine, then "Peter the Roman" is supposed to be the final pope, and a good pope, who will be appointed by Saints Peter and Paul to restore the Church.

As for Bergoglio, feel free to call him whatever you like!

I just can’t believe that Pope Benedict quit like he did, there had to be something happening that made him do that...

I haven’t received an answer on that yet, and I might not ever, it might not be for me to know, but The Saints have got their work cut out for them after this phony leaves...

The saints will indeed have their work cut out for them!

Another poster and I discussed a possible reason for Ratzinger’s resignation in comments #25 and 28. For his sake I hope I am not correct.

I did not know that...thank you for that information...I have often wondered if he was forced out, if he thought he was going to die or be killed, he was doing quite an investigation about the Vatican Bank system, and then the guy that was with him all the time leaked all those memos out, that had to be very disappointing for him...

Papa Tango: And I answered: Look, I wrote an encyclical—true enough, it was by four hands [with Benedict XVI]—and an apostolic exhortation. I’m constantly making statements, giving homilies. That’s magisterium.
