~ “It’s a superstition, because marriage frightens the husband. It’s a superstition we have to overcome,” the Pope said. “I’ve seen a lot of fidelity in these cohabitations, and I am sure that this is a real marriage, they have the grace of a real marriage because of their fidelity, but there are local superstitions, etc.” ~

I have a good record of defending Papa Francisco but this statement is indefensible.

Not in this case.

Not in any case, if he is not teaching in accord with Sacred Scripture, the Catechism and the Magisterium (all his holy predecessors.)

It's because of wackadoo teachers like Pope Francis, that I am grateful for the doctrine of Infallibility, because it guarantees that no matter how wackadoo a particular pope's opinions, he will not be able to make them doctrines to be believed and followed by the whole Church.

What I'm saying is, "infallibility" is not a personal characteristic of the pope. It is a gift to the Church which protects the Church from erratic popes.

Here, this short video (2 min) should give you a good laugh. It's worth a click:

Not if he is not the pope due to personal heresy, either pre-existing which would render his election "null, void, and worthless", or subsequent to election by his own act. The charism of infallibility in specific teaching resides in the OFFICE of the Papacy from which a pope would fall by his own act of personal heresy, apostasy or schism.

All the vatican-2 sect heretical non-popes were formal heretics before election, hence none were ever pope.

Some specific Catholic documents on heresy and the papacy in this previous comment

Excerpt:

"6... or even the Roman Pontiff, prior to his promotion or his elevation as Cardinal or Roman Pontiff, has deviated from the Catholic Faith or fallen into some heresy:

(i) the promotion or elevation, even if it shall have been uncontested and by the unanimous assent of all the Cardinals, shall be null, void and worthless;"
