Was this Cardinal involved in the hiring of this Pope? This pope is only doing what was set in motion decades ago.

Look for this Pope to retire come after this year, after he turns 80.

No way. He’s going to have to be carried out in a pine box...and only then after he has eliminated all the good cardinal electors and chosen his successor.

“Look for this Pope to retire come after this year, after he turns 80.”

I’d love to see this happen, but don’t know why you expect this to be the case. I predict this Pope will try to inflict as much damage on the Church for as long as he can.

He said something last year that his time as Pope will be a short one, that he also wants to be able to eat pizza in peace.

Are you sure about that?

Calling it quits has become the new trend.

Well, like Maxwell, the Vatican does have a silver hammer (that they reserve for popes...)

Not with Francis. I read an article today about how the orthodox bishops who have hit the mandatory retirement age, 75, have their resignations accepted immediately...meanwhile, the heterodox who are Friends of Francis can stay in their posts indefinitely, and many of them are now in fact approaching 80.

Francis isn’t going anywhere.

That is hardly the plan. Remember, Pope Benedict didn’t die, he wasn’t even ill. He was forced out by the “liberation theology” faction so they could install Pope Marx the First.
