DAY 1: CLOSED! Abortion centers out of business

February 10, 2016 spring2015roswell4

https://40daysforlife.com/updates/It all starts today! Prayer, fasting, and peaceful vigil are powerful … and needed now more than ever in our culture.

Right now, there are babies scheduled to be aborted close to where you live — and your peaceful presence could be the difference. Find your nearest vigil here:

https://40daysforlife.com/browse-campaigns/

Moms do turn around at the last moment. For the abortion industry, that means one thing — lost income.

We start this 40 Days for Life campaign with good news … as we’re now aware of TWO more abortion facilities that have CLOSED their doors following 40 Days for Life campaigns!

One was in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and the other in Roswell, Georgia.

Eight 40 Days for Life vigils were held outside the Oklahoma City center … and there were two in front of the Roswell facility.

This now makes 66 locations … where people peacefully prayed outside during 40 Days for Life vigils … that have gone out of business.

To God be the glory!

As we praise God for these victories, ask yourself this question:

“How can God use me to save lives where I live?”

If you’ve never been to a 40 Days for Life vigil … you can overcome any natural fear and serve as a peaceful sign of Christ’s hope — at the very place where the abortions actually happen.

Pray about going out … and then find one of the 273 locations taking part in 40 Days for Life — starting TODAY — and continuing through March 20.

Devotionals

The 40 Days for Life campaign is firmly rooted on a foundation of prayer and fasting. To help maintain focus on the Lord and stay in tune with His guidance, we will prepare and distribute a series of daily devotionals — one for each of the 40 days of the campaign.

We fervently believe that prayer and fasting will end abortion, and your prayers will be very much needed and appreciated.

I always walk back and forth when I am praying in front of a clinic. An hour of walking like that — even at a slow pace takes off the pounds.

Barranquilla, Colombia

February 11, 2016 spring2016barranquilla1

Barranquilla is one of 12 locations where 40 Days for Life vigils are taking place in Colombia.

"The clock strikes 12:00 am!" one of the Barranquilla team members wrote on Facebook early yesterday morning. "From here on out, it's 40 days of prayer to put an end to abortion in our country."

spring2016barranquilla3

The campaign began with prayer at a local church. "Thank you, Lord, as we worship you before we begin," one volunteer prayed. "Thank you, Lord, for the gift of life. Thank you for instilling in our city this initiative."

Leaders invited more people to get involved. "Join us and save moms and babies. You can be a hero!"

DAY 3: Planned Parenthood unnerved

February 12, 2016 spring2016ppkey1

$38.3 million is a lot of money.

According to Planned Parenthood’s latest annual report, that’s how much their private contributions have DECREASED.

For the abortion industry, when you have a drop like that you will say anything - or accuse anyone - to raise money. As this 40 Days for Life campaign begins, they’re turning their attention to those praying at peaceful vigils.

40 Days for Life campaigns are effective. When a woman chooses life, we rejoice … and help that mother. Planned Parenthood only sees lost income. Here is the latest example.

In an email to supporters in Pennsylvania, they try to paint YOU as an "extremist."

"Protesters plan to hold a vigil every day in front of our medical centers," reads the email, "attempting to intimidate, harass and block our patients from accessing the care they need."

Planned Parenthood then asks backers to contribute money for every "protester" who shows up during the campaign. The more people show up, the more their friends will donate - or at least, that's the idea.

So if you see one of these "pledge-a-picket" campaigns at the abortion facility in your community, pay it no attention. Just bow your head and do the one thing that really hurts their bottom line: pray!

spring2016blizzard1

A few years ago, the president of NARAL (the largest abortion advocacy group) was shocked and discouraged to see so many young people at the March for Life in Washington DC.

When she later resigned her position, she noted her inability to get young people involved in the "pro-choice" movement.

It's safe to say the opposite is true for the pro-life movement. I'm 33 years old … and I often feel old at pro-life events and 40 Days for Life vigils!

Young people are not just part of the pro-life movement - they are often the majority. And they're anything but passive about their pro-life stance.

School groups, church groups, families with small children - those are all frequent sights at the peaceful vigils outside abortion centers.

It's not just the participants who are on the younger end of the scale - it's often the leaders! Here's an example of the young leader of one 40 Days for Life campaign who's already a veteran.

LANSING, MICHIGAN

spring2016lansing1

Mary Tombelli is a high school senior in the Lansing area, and she says her decision to become the next 40 Days for Life campaign director came after spending 13 hours stuck in blizzard and log jam on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

On her return from the March for Life in Washington, DC, last month, she spent the time in prayer ... and was moved to get out of her comfort zone and take a bigger role in the pro-life movement.

"I'd like to encourage the young people of my generation to take a stand for life. I hope to do this by leading this campaign asking God to help us save women, men and children from the pain of abortion," she said. "Through God's grace and peaceful prayer, I believe each one of us can make a difference, and support the culture of life."

Mary also serves as the leader of the Homeschoolers for Life group in Lansing.

Tuscaloosa, Alabama

February 14, 2016 spring2016tuscaloosa3

The message to local 40 Days for Life participants was a somber one: "Tuscaloosa is the abortion capital of Alabama."

That, in a single sentence, is why the prayerful vigil is so desperately needed in this city, which is also the home of the University of Alabama.

The local leaders did their homework, consulting state records to learn the extent of the challenge they face. The Tuscaloosa abortion facility, West Alabama Women's Center, did more than half of all abortions in Alabama in 2014. They learned that each year, more babies are aborted in Tuscaloosa County than are born alive.

"Last week," said one of the Tuscaloosa volunteers, "the West Alabama Women’s Center was so busy that there was standing room only inside. I spoke to some of the people who drove the clients to the clinic. Some of them were visibly upset because there were so many women inside."

And so they pray.

DAY 6: 35 babies spared!

February 15, 2016 spring2015anchorage1

Mondays always bring good news during a 40 Days for Life campaign!

Every Monday, we report the number of babies who have been saved from abortion. Thus far in this campaign, local leaders tell us that they know of 35 babies whose mothers decided at the last possible minute to choose life!

The pro-life community supports these women, and vigil participants stand ready with information that will point them to resources and services that will carry them through their pregnancy … and beyond.

We praise God for these victories . . . and pray in joyful anticipation that many more will follow!

Milwaukee, Wisconsin

February 16, 2016 spring2016milwaukee1

Vigil participants at the 40 Days for Life site in Milwaukee had an opportunity to speak to a young couple ... without the interference that the abortion center's escorts often create.

They were soon able to learn that this couple had decided against abortion ... and had chosen life for their child.

"Please keep this couple and their baby in your prayers," said one of the team leaders. "Take up your cross and pour your heart into your work for Christ. He will repay you in kind; for you can never outgive God."
