The upcoming meeting between Pope Francis and Russian Patriarch Kirill will not only be a historic religious event, but could also have major benefits to Christians around the world, the French newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche reported.
In an attempt to defend Christians in the Middle East and other parts of the world where they're being persecuted, Pope Francis wants to ask Russian President Vladimir Putin for help.
According to Pope Francis, Putin is "the only one with whom the Catholic Church can unite to defend Christians in the East."
With the help of Putin, Pope Francis hopes to reach out to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Iranian leader Hassan Rouhani and even the Chinese government elite and work out a plan to help Christians in these regions.

Well yes since the Pope himself cannot be bothered to do it.
To quote Uncle Joe, “how many divisions does the Pope have?”
What an embarrassment for our country.Obama is less than useless.
The Pope said Christians..to a TRUE Cat-o-lic a Christian is NOT Catholic. Just another non-catholic religion.
??
Hmm 1.254 billion Catholics world wide so...figure about 1200.
Well, I’m afraid he’s right about this. Obama is on the other side. So is most of the EU. Canada and Australia have both gone over in the last elections. Maybe we can get some distant help from the South Seas Buddhists.

We’ve been assured numerous times that Obama is a Christian, and that he is the best friend the Jews have ever had. Just ask anyone in the mainstream media.
“A lie repeated often enough becomes the truth.”
- G. Goebbels

Exactly my response.
Finally, one point upon which I agree with the Pope.
Has the Pope called for a Crusade yet? He’ll have to unite all the Christians.
Barack defends muslims & islam like it's his own religion, that he once declared on national television.
+1
That is ridiculous. But I have most certainly seen the inverse to be true.
He’s flaccid.
Strange days man. Strange days.
The traditional Roman take has been to consider the Roman church as the center of all Christians whatever denomination they might have been born into.
Anyhow. It looks like the practical focus is on Middle East congregations now under serious Islamist threat. Mostly Roman, some Orthodox.
This is Putin’s sphere of influence; America has done next to nothing in it in the last several years, due to Barack Obama.
If Trump makes it as next President, it would be very easy to envision him and Putin getting together on some kind of mutual plan to wipe out ISIS.
