Defiant Catholic Laity against "same-sex unions", despite little support from the Vatican
Rotate Caeli ^ | 1/30/16 | New Catholic

The "Cirinna Bill" being debated in the Italian Parliament to allow "same-sex unions" in that central nation of Catholicism managed to bring Catholics from all over Italy to Rome this Saturday.

The image from the Circo Massimo is unmistakable: on this "Family Day", a huge multitude of Italian families (including many friends of this blog) gathered to protest the government's support of the counternatural bill.

Cardinal Bagnasco, the President of the Italian Bishops' Conference, despite the clear lack of support from Pope Francis, kept his support for the event. Some Cardinals, including Cardinal Sarah, showed their support. But the Pope himself kept his silence, resented by millions of Italian Catholics who simply cannot understand why a Pontiff who talks about everything chose not to explicitly support the event (earlier in the day, the first Jubilee general audience attracted a much smaller number of people to St. Peter's square). Here is our support to good Italian Catholics: go on, march on, even if the Vatican is not clear, God is, and He will reward your efforts!

P.S. An influential Italian Catholic leader present at the massive rally tells us the mood: "An ecstatic and defiant crowd at #familyday2016! However, never since the Rennissance have Italian Catholics despised a Pope more than Pope Francis. Those present here are the backbone of Italian Catholicism, and they cannot believe the Pope abandoned them to the secular lions in Parliament, abandoned the few faithful bishops and did not even say a single word at his Jubilee General Audience today. Yet, they are not angry at Francis, it's more a mix of deep disdain and a strong sentiment of Fremdscham, as the Germans say."

What bothers me is the way so many faithfully parrot the line of the LGBT media in depicting the Pope as a closet Gay Pride Ally. This seriously misleading.

Yes, there has been published concern about the Pope not being right up there marching with the big Natural Law banners through the City of Rome. People who were looking to him for street-level leadership in the recent Natural Family rallies have voiced disappointment.

However, it's a mistake to join the LGBT tacticians portraying him as a supporter, 'crypto' or otherwise, of the Gay Agenda. Pope Francis has spoken out more against the Gender Deconstruction Agenda than any other pope in the history of the Catholic Church.

Anyone who loves Christ and the Church should take 15 seconds and scan this list at #39.

It'll do you a world of good.

Failing to appreciate and amplify the Pope's voice in his defense of Natural Gender and Natural Marriage, is misguided to say the least.

Anyone failing to acknowledge Bergoglio’s noticeable silence on legalized civil homo "unions" is misguided to say the least.

A little balanced coverage would help, wouldn't it?

I thought this article from Slate was interesting, showing the Left's growing realization that the pope's blessing-dispensing kindness toward gays "as members of the human family" in no way makes him a LGBT political ally (LINK).

(I, too, bless gay people in the sense of praying for God to aid them in soul-cleaning repentance, well-being and redemption. I pray these blessings for near and dear ones who call themselves "gay," and for those I don't even know. I pray with this exact same intention for myself as well.)

Slate's bottom line is correct:

Upon close examination, though, the pope's words are calculated, precise, and unforgiving. Same-sex families are not legitimate in the eyes of the Vatican. In the Catholic Church, gays --- being humans --- have inherent human rights. Gay rights, however, are not human rights.

BTW, a number of the main speakers at that huge anti-Civil-Union rally--- rally-organizer Massimo Gandalfini, Lavinia Mennuni of Mothers of Italy, and Kiko Arguello of the Neocatechumenal Way--- all quoted Pope Francis in their talks in defense of the Natural Family.

God bless them. I love them: Catholic, dedicated, and smart.

You are too funny. Pope Francis, in May 2015, appointed Fr. Timothy Radcliffe as Consultor for Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace.

Vatican appointee says gay sex can express Christ's 'self-gift'

Father Timothy Radcliffe, pro-homosexual Dominican, appointed by Pope Francis as Consulter to Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace

When I first read Radcliffe’s statements months ago, I reacted with horror and still do. His appointment as a J&P “consultor” is a true scandal. His priestly faculties and all his appointments should be terminated.

But where was their Bishop of Rome?

He resides there, in the same city and has a queer housemother by his own choosing.

I'll repeat an excerpt from the posted article:

Francis’ papacy is not funny at all. It’s horrifying.

You’re defense of him is what’s funny.

His priestly faculties and all his appointments should be terminated.

So should the man who elevated him to that position.

For your further edification in the Catholic faith:

I defend Pope Francis when he does the right thing. You already know my horrified reaction to the Radcliffe appointment.

You need to make necessary distinctions.

Your definition of “right” is definitely different from what I consider to be Catholic right.

I have been distinct in all my posts.

I defend Pope Francis when he does the right thing.

No, you also defend him when he fails to do the right thing. What did he do right yesterday? Where was Humble Jorge, Bishop of Rome, yesterday when two million people, most of them Catholics, were protesting the legalization of sodomite unions in their country?

No, I do not defend the Holy Father "when he fails to do the right thing."

You have phenomenal gall, because you say falsehoods to me about even my own words, as if I wouldn't know what I said and what I did not say.

I get so tired of this.

Tagline.

Pure B.S.

Report: Pope Francis meets with, hugs transgender man

A marriage (made up of man and woman) is not the same as the union of two people of the same sex. To distinguish is not to discriminate but to respect differences ...(Pope Francis, as Archbishop of Buenos Aires, in an April 2010 Pastoral Letter)

Mrs. Don-o, since when are Catholics supposed to respect sodomite sexual unions?

Again, we see here that Bergoglio has never, ever been in disfavor of sodomite, civil unions. It explains his silence on the Irish referendum and his noticeable absence from yesterday's Family Day right outside his window in Rome.

I have a difference with abortionists but I don't respect their position either, despite Papa Tango's advice.
