On the surface, it looks like Pope Francis and the Jews are cozying up to one another and becoming besties. Below the surface, an End of Days prophecy that pits Rome against Jerusalem is playing out.

That’s the contention of Rabbi Tovia Singer, a Jewish expert in both Hebrew and Christian Scripture and director of the counter-missionary organization, Outreach Judaism. Singer opens his case by noting the proximity of two recent news items.

While there are some good points to the writer’s article, I agree with you. I don’t see where Edom was ever associated with Rome other than the fact that Edom (the area to the east of Israel, that includes Jordan and Saudi Arabia) was also under captivity by all the beast empires. Edom attacked Israel often and relentlessly. Edom was never a world power, but the combined Arab world and other now Muslim countries WILL come against Israel. However, I think that Jordan does allow Israel refuge after antichrist reveals himself in the temple and the Jews flees Jerusalem. Jordan is way more moderate than many of the surrounding Muslim countries.

Just my take on Biblical prophecy.

Excellent article! Rabbi Singer is a true tzaddiq. He understands chrstians and reaches out to them, trying to open their eyes. He doesn't insult or demean them as so many do, and he doesn't tell them that they're perfectly fine exactly as they are.

Singer explained that, while that . . . the Vatican's statement is essentially meaningless since "Roman Catholics haven't evangelized Jews in 75 years."

Catholics haven't evangelized anyone in centuries (they're 100% against "proselytization," which is one reason they hate those "intolerant" Fundamentalist Protestants so much). It's an imitation Judaism, an ethnic religion whose means of survival is that Irish people reproduce sexually.

By ignoring reality: Edom = Medes (and Persians). That's not to say Israel will not face others - it will. Israel will face not a people, but a government system with roots in ancient Greece.

It could be argued that Esau became the more magnanimous. The scene in Genesis of their reconciliation is very moving. He and Jacob together buried their dead father Issac, then Esau went on his way, and but for his descendants, was not heard of again.
