Pope Francis: Obstinate Christians Are Rebels and Idolaters
Vatican Radio ^ | 1/18/16

(Vatican Radio) Christians who say "it's always been done that way," and stop there have hearts closed to the surprises of the Holy Spirit. They are idolaters and rebels will never arrive at the fullness of the truth. That was the message of Pope Francis at Mass on Monday morning at the chapel in the Casa Santa Marta.

In the first reading, Saul was rejected by God as King of Israel because he disobeyed, preferring to listen to the people rather than the will of God. The people, after a victory in battle, wanted to offer a sacrifice of the best animals to God, because, he said, "it's always been done that way." But God, this time, did not want that. The prophet Samuel rebuked Saul: "Does the Lord so delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obedience to the command of the Lord?" Jesus teaches us the same thing in the Gospel, the Pope explained. When the doctors of the law criticized Him because His disciples did not fast "as had always been done," Jesus responded with these examples from daily life: "No one sews a piece of unshrunken cloth on an old cloak. If he does, its fullness pulls away, the new from the old, and the tear gets worse. Likewise, no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the skins are ruined. Rather, new wine is poured into fresh wineskins."

"What does this mean? That He changes the law? No! That the law is at the service of man, who is at the service of God - and so man ought to have an open heart. 'It's always been done this way' is a closed heart, and Jesus tells us, 'I will send you.....

Docile and humble acceptance of Catholic tradition as handed down = rebellion.

Where/who are these "rebels"? Over the past half century, everything has been called into question regarding Catholic liturgy, catechesis and dogma resulting in massive confusion and scandal. He talks as if the Church has been caught in the grip of some sort of Medieval Inquisition.

Does firm allegiance to Pope St John Paul II's encyclical Familiaris Consortio make one an idolator? Is that what he's trying to say here?

Why have none of the bishops or cardinals stood up and called this pope an apostate who has excommunicated himself from the Church?

Get ready folks, he keeps talking about the “God of surprises”, there should be a lot of “surprises” coming our way unheard of in 2.000 years of Church history.

I really dislike this pope. He should take a vow of silence!

Plenty of strong and threatening words for conservatives but none for the actual rebellion of liberals like Pelosi, Kennedy, et al.

Something about “even the very ELECT” being deceived. This will not end well. I take that back. Eventually it will end very well. The interim...not so much.

The elect can not be deceived.

There is a remnant that will not listen to anyone talking about a “God of surprises”. The true Catholic Faith teaches revelation ended with the death of the Apostle John and anything “Francis” says that contradicts 2,000 years of Church teaching can and should be rejected by the faithful.

King James Bible
For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

I have full confidence that this “pope” would burn me at the stake if he could, because I profess John 14:6 and not his broadway of all faiths leading to “heaven”.

Real Christians had best be prepared.

This is what happens when you elevate a fallible man and insist that he is the head of the church instead of Christ.

I believe Paul was prophesying when he warned the church in Rome not to boast against the branches (Romans 11)

They can not even tell the difference between the God of the bible and an imposter and side with the enemies of God.

Catholic brothers in Christ: The great deception has begun. If this Pope is not the False Prophet, then he is preparing the way for the False Prophet. In every church there are Victors. Please hold fast to the Gospel you were taught and be a victor. The time is very, very, short.

Revelation 2
7 “’”Whoever has ears ought to hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
To the victor I will give the right to eat from the tree of life that is in the garden of God.”’
- - - - -
11 “’”Whoever has ears ought to hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
The victor shall not be harmed by the second death.”’

17 “’”Whoever has ears ought to hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
To the victor I shall give some of the hidden manna; I shall also give a white amulet upon which
is inscribed a new name, which no one knows except the one who receives it.”’
- - - - -
24 But I say to the rest of you in Thyatira, who do not uphold this teaching and
know nothing of the so-called deep secrets of Satan: on you I will place no further burden,
25 except that you must hold fast to what you have until I come.

26 “’”To the victor, who keeps to my ways until the end, I will give authority over the nations.
27 He will rule them with an iron rod. Like clay vessels will they be smashed,
28 just as I received authority from my Father. And to him I will give the morning star.
29 “’”Whoever has ears ought to hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”’
- - - - -
Revelation 3
4 However, you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their garments;
they will walk with me dressed in white, because they are worthy.
5 “’”The victor will thus be dressed in white, and I will never erase his name
from the book of life but will acknowledge his name in the presence of my
Father and of his angels.c
6 “’”Whoever has ears ought to hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”’
- - - - -
20 “’”Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and
opens the door, [then] I will enter his house and dine with him, and he with me.
21 I will give the victor the right to sit with me on my throne, as I myself
first won the victory and sit with my Father on his throne.

22 “’”Whoever has ears ought to hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”’”
- - - - -

* [2:7] Victor: referring to any Christian individual who holds fast to the faith
and does God’s will in the face of persecution. The tree of life that is in the
garden of God: this is a reference to the tree in the primeval paradise (Gn 2:9);
cf. Rev 22:2, 14, 19. The decree excluding humanity from the tree of life has
been revoked by Christ.

Nah, he wouldn't have a problem with you -- you aren't a Catholic, and most particularly you aren't a traditional Catholic.

But about his attitude toward me, I'm not as confident.

Methinks this Pope is engaging in projection, since he is the one rebelling against God. Typical Marxist tactic. Universal salvation? Then why did Jesus say “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Light. Nobody comes unto the Father except by Me”? And what’s this about casting aside the church fathers, including what is written in the Epistles? Stay grounded in His word.
