REFUTING CHRISTIAN TITHING VIDEO: Interviewing Tithing Expert Ron Roby
THE WORD on the Word of Faith ^ | 1/13/2016 | Damon Whitsell

Posted on 01/13/2016 12:39:24 PM PST by damonw

Today I got to interview tithing expert Ron Robey on my online TV show. He has written over 100 articles and 3 books on the topic. And he has a appeared on several well known Christian radio shows. Ron really knew his stuff and I did a good job of just asking questions so it turned out to be my best of 5 TV shows so far. This should convince anyone that tithing 10% to the church by compulsion is not taught in scriptures. – Damon Whitsell

What caused you to excerpt your own material?

You could just post the whole thing.

Guess you didn’t bother to go to the link before posting. If you had, you would have seen that the rest is a video interview NOT a written one.

Maybe you should pay more attention to the old adage: “Better to Remain Silent and Be Thought a Fool than to Speak and Remove All Doubt”.

I find it interesting that for all Christians and pastors like to remind us that we are not under the law any more and our works do not do anything to move us toward God or compel him to bless us, when it comes to tithing, they are virtual pharisees.

I know people who above and beyond tithe and still are having financial difficulties and people who don’t tithe who don’t have financial problems.

We are so legalistic in this one area, and it’s perfectly acceptable in the vast majority of churches.

Give and Give cheerfully. Support your church, it has operating expenses, it may need to help those in need, it may have missionaries to support. None of that happens for free.

It is not a ‘legal’ issue, it should be what one Wants to do.

I agree with you. Tithing = legalism. Not pertinent under Grace. But the preachers sure hit you with the concept. Everyone involved in a local church should give to support the ministry, but actual “tithing” is not Biblical now.

Another thing that I have a problem with is the concept of having to become a member of a local church. There’s nothing wrong with it — if you want to — but I don’t see it mentioned in the Bible.

I agree. It’s the emphasis on giving *at least 10%.* People still to that very legalistically.

The only advantage of membership I see is the privilege of being able to have some say in church governing, being able to vote.

I donate cash, no name.

To church, and others.

Take std deduction. (No house payment.)

The Church (organized, as a business-like entity) is too dependent on the tax deduction, to the point of saying ‘its good stewardship to claim your tithe deductions.’

Those ‘Churches’ and we Believers better learn to live without that deduction.

We do, too, but don’t write off anything we give. . . to church or otherwise. It’s just how we roll.

Yes; I think that would be the only advantage — if you can call it an advantage. I’ve seen more than enough church member skirmishes in voting situations, being a preacher’s kid. My uncles were preachers, too, so Dad and uncles would discuss their respective churches’ infighting when we all got together.

Now, we find a church we like and we attend until we don’t like it, and then find a better fit. I refuse to stir up trouble; it’s just sickening what “Christians” will do to gain and/or retain some measure of power in a church environment. I’ll have none of it.

Church isn’t about being a big fish in a small pond.

And yet, I do see that happen in some churches. Some people just have to be in charge and churches can be safe places for a very dominant personality to take charge.

Then they can throw their weight around and force people into capitulating using Scripture.

That’s not going to end well for them.

There is need for an expert on Tithing ?

2nd Corinthians
