USA follows Ireland: Zero Religious Freedom
Arise Let Us Be Going ^ | December 18, 2015

father miguel pro cristero

Father Miguel Pro praying before execution.

It used to be that Ireland followed America. Now we’re following Ireland, filthy, anti-Catholic Ireland. It’s come to my attention that David French at the National Review has reported that:

A state court in Massachusetts has ruled that a Catholic preparatory school violated the state's antidiscrimination law when it rescinded a job offer to a man because he was married to another man. Matthew Barrett had accepted a job as Food Service Director at the Fontbonne Academy, a Catholic girls school. On his employment forms, he listed his husband as his emergency contact - a move that led the school to rescind the job offer.

But here’s the hypocrisy of all this: At the moment, religious schools are exempt from paying directly into the Obama Abortion Superfund while paying insurance for their employees. To remain exempt, the school must hire almost exclusively Catholic personnel and teach almost exclusively Catholic students.

Now, if the court forces anti-Catholic personnel on the school, it will be said that the school cannot be exempt from paying directly (formal cooperation) into the Abortion Superfund.

This kind of blatant, public hypocrisy turning into open persecution is exactly what happened against the Jews (and I’m 100% Jewish) in Germany leading up to the holocaust, the Shoah. This is your government, people. When it happens, it happens very quickly. From one day to the next.

The school says on their website that they hire without regard to sexual preference, religion or creed. That doesn’t leave them much room to claim they can.

It is a non-Catholic Catholic school.

When it happens, it happens very quickly. From one day to the next.

That is one of the reasons why there are people that are hell bent to take our guns from us!

Jesus even said, "There will come a time that you will have to sell your cloak to buy a sword."

And so it begins...militant Christianity will have to flex it’s muscle if it’s to survive....it will....as it has in the past and is preparing to do again.

God Bless America (the Judeo-Christian God, that is). Help us defeat our enemies, both foreign and domestic, and through this maelstrom, redeem us of our transgressions, and forgive so many of us for having forgotten that you are the strength and salvation of our existence as a sovereign nation and God fearing people.

It helps if you identify your symbols for the education of those not in the 'know', otherwise it diminishes their value.

Father Miguel Pro SJ is a martyr of the situation leading to the Mexican 'Cristero War' (1926-28) when the virulently leftist, atheist & anti-Catholic government of Plutarco Elias Calles enforced massive anticlerical regulations that denied civil rights to clergy but mainly enforced against Roman Catholic Clergy. This was 'motivated' by a desire to strip the Catholic Church of its land holdings and perceived support of the landed class in Mexico.

Father Pro was arrested and executed (November 23, 1927) without trial on trumped-up charges of bombing and attempted assassination of former Mexican President Alvaro Obregon (predecessor & mentor to Calles).

Note that he was denied clerical clothing at his execution.

"Preference" equals, I suppose, the same as "orientation." Nobody chooses an orientation, properly so called, because it's a temptation, not an act: a tendency or appetite, which one ahould, of course, control, not indulge.

"Gay mariage" is not merely a sexual "preference" or "tendency" or "orientation." Gay marriage is an act, and indeed an official affirmation of an ongoing relationship predicted upon sexual disorder, the acts of which are gravely depraved.

? That is, "gay marriage" is behavior, conduct, acts: and the public valorizing of those acts.

What the school will do, I can't guess. But the mere fact that they challenged this "gay" "married" guy is a step in the right direction.

As you said-

From Fontbonne's website:
The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph and the Sponsored Ministries, including Fontbonne Academy, are equal employment opportunity employers.
Consistent with those religious exemptions provided in statutory and constitutional law, employment decisions are based on merit, job requirements and qualifications, and organization needs, and not on race, color, citizenship status, national origin, ancestry, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, creed, physical or mental disability, marital status, veteran status, political affiliation, or any other factor protected by law.

I thought that the only religious exclusion that any business or organization could carve out was in jobs directly related to religious practice or teaching, i.e. priests and teachers.

I don't see why they would rescind a job offer to someone in charge of food service.

This appears to be an inside job where the school and the hiree decided to game the system to get a judicial outcome they both hoped for.

[[I thought that the only religious exclusion that any business or organization could carve out was in jobs directly related to religious practice or teaching, i.e. priests and teachers.]]

Be warned. That exemption is weak tea indeed. A teacher at a Christian school can hardly feel free to teach or preach the Bible when surrounded by homosexuals in supposedly non-religious positions. One obnoxious gay janitor could split apart a entire church.

It is a non-Catholic Catholic school.

Fontbonne Academy is a private Roman Catholic college preparatory high school for girls, located in Milton, Massachusetts, USA. It is located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston. It was started in 1954 by the Sisters of St. Joseph.

The school also rejects religion and creed as reasons to not hire someone. So it is hard for them to justify a failure to obey Catholic rules of behavior as a reason to reject someone, when the person rejected is not required to be Catholic or Christian, not required to hold any particular belief, and can have any sexual orientation.

In our little church, anyone paid by the church to act for the church must agree to a statement of belief. (Contractors doing work on the parking lot, for example, do not because they are independent contractors). Failure to live accordingly CAN be a reason for firing, at the discretion of the elders and the church as a whole. That statement of belief clearly identifies marriage as between a man and woman only.

We also added a section a few years ago stating that no church official will participate in, support or perform a marriage other than one between a man and woman. We added it before the court decisions in order to reduce the chance of the pastor being sued or our church being sued.

Those are reasonable steps for any Catholic school which wants to practice Catholic belief to add to their bylaws, with some adjustment for a difference in church structure and belief.

If you tell the world your hiring decisions will not be based on belief in a creed, religion, or sexual orientation, then expecting the courts to act like theologians and parse your catechism is pretty darn optimistic, at the least. This school was practically BEGGING to be sued.

Those who don’t take their beliefs seriously cannot expect the courts to do so. This is a liberal school, and they are paying the price for hugging the Devil.
