My cousin had alcohol problem for years, took meds, counseling,etc. Went to doctor who wrote, or co-wrote? book about HIGH doses of Niacin to combat cravings....it worked! I dont remember the name of the book, think it is on amazon, anyway, i would not have believed it but he never drinks now. There is some vitamin b brain issue with cravings, it is scientific, not “hippy cure”. And not dangerous. Niacin flush was his worst symptom. Hope this info helps!

I myself am a recovering alcoholic with 12 years of sobriety. My prayers are with your brother that he learns to turn over his life and his will to the care of God.
Lord Jesus, our Teacher and Savior, send an angel to Thy servant to guard him against alcohol abuse, and lead him to Thee.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, amen.
I shall keep your brother and his children in my prayers.
May our Heavenly Father grant your brother the graces that your brother will surely need to overcome his addiction and to be the husband and father that God means him to be. We ask this in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
