Life Everlasting: A Definitive Study of Life After Death (The OTHER World Series: Lds author)
Google Docs ^ | 1967 (original) | Duane S. Crowther

Posted on 10/27/2015 4:11:16 AM PDT by Colofornian

Evil Spirits from the spirit prison and from Hell. Elder Parley P. Pratt described the difference in appearance between these spirits and the righteous spirits which dwell in paradise.

Persons who have departed this life, and have not yet been raised from the dead are spirits.

These are two kinds, viz.--good and evil.

These two kinds also include many grades of good and evil.

The good spirits, in the superlative sens of the word, are they who, in this life, partook of the Holy Priesthood, and of the fulness of the gospel.

This class of spirits minister to the heirs of salvation, both in this world and in the world of spirits. They can appear unto men, when permitted; but not having a fleshly tabernacle, they cannot hide their glory. Hence, an unembodied spirit, if it be a holy personage, will be surrounded with a halo of resplendent glory, or brightness, above the brightness of the sun...

...President Joseph F. Smith taught that

We are told by the Prophet Joseph Smith that "there are no angels who minister to this earth but those who do belong or have belonged to it." Hence, when messengers are sent to minister to the inhabitants of this earth, they are not strangers, but from the ranks of our kindred, friends, and fellow-beings and fellow servants...Our fathers and mothers, brothers, sisters and friends who have passed away from this earth...may have a mission given them to visit their relatives and friends upon the earth again...

Parley P. Pratt was well aware of the interest spirits beyond the veil hold in their mortal loves ones...

...we frequently hold communication with our departed father, mother, brother, sister, son or daughter...

Please note: Some may think that Mormon author Duane S. Crowther, who writes about dozens and dozens of creepy ghostly spirits visiting Mormons and a heavy dosage of interacting with the dead and concentrating on the dead in this book, doesn't represent "official" Mormonism... If you are in this category, see:

Life Everlasting

Deseret Book Publishing IS THE official publishing arm of the Mormon church -- and is, in fact, owned by the Mormon church...

In contrast to what the Bible has to say:

Hebrews 13:2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

There are many levels of spirits and the lower ones can be impostors and imitators. Most people are asleep and can’t tell the difference. They can’t tell the weeds from the good seeds.

There are spirits here that are not of this world. Jesus even said that He was not of this world. There are also demonic spirits or fallen angels that are not of this world.

There are also angels here to help that are not of this world.

But most of the spirits that are stuck here are just earthbound spirits who have left their physical bodies. They are not bad, but merely misguided. However, as they have not crossed over they still carry the memories of the physical and emotional pain of illness and trauma. When they move into a person the host experiences the physical and emotional symptoms of the attached spirit and cannot identify why.

I’ve been doing this work for about 25 years and it never gets boring.

In contrast with scripture:

Deuteronomy 18:10-12 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, (11) Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. (12) For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

And this is one of the roots of Mormonism's problems...they believe that all "good angelic spirits" are in effect "ghosts" -- people who have lived on earth...

When you reduce angels to ghosts, you've got necromancy issues from the theological jumpstart!

Btw, Lds "apostle" Parley P. Pratt is a direct ancestor to Mitt Romney.

And Pratt says in the excerpt quoted from the book that Lds "frequently communicate" with the dead!

I have a problem believing a religion started by an angel appearing to a man; especially one named Moroni. And we all know what happened when “Gabriel” supposedly appeared to Mohammed...we got headloppers

Not to apologize for Mormonism, but didn’t Christianity effectively begin when an angel appeared before Mary to tell her of her ... condition?

#1...Some OT Jews believed in a Christos...a Messiah...hence why called "Judeo-Christian" [Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Rahab, Samuel, David, Elijah + an unknown # of others are saved & will live forever in God's kingdom per Mt. 8:11; 17:3; 22:32; Lk 9:30; 13:28; 16:22-25; Rom. 4:1-7; Heb. 11:4-32.

#2...As I pointed out in an earlier post, Mormonic angels are counter-distinct from Biblical angels...

Biblical angels are perfect spirits who were created as such; Mormonic angels are men who died in their sin...become "resurrected ghosts"...and interact with Mormons...

We live in a 95% LDS town. Across the street from a cemetery. They believe it’s okay to have conversations with dead people, and do often.

First, scripture forbids it. Second, that’s not grandpa you’re talking to.
