Oops! Sorry! I forgot this one was a religion thread.
I glean from your comments you are ignorant of the languages of the Bible.
In English, allah refers ONLY to the false god of islam, who is, in fact, satan.
You seem to frequently give place to the adversary. What does the word "el" refer to in English ?
Maybe you use allah in whatever cult you worship, but in my entire life I have never once heard allah used in a Christian church to refer to YAHWEH, Creator GOD.
Which denomination or sect do you regularly assemble with ? Do you understand the transliteration you just introduced is derived from a Hebrew word without the vowels you projected ?
The tagline stands. If it offends you, go hump a goat.
Your response demonstrates to me that you are not walking in the Spirit. How then do you differ from what you profess to hate ?
I am thoroughly familiar with the languages of the Bible. I know about Hebrew and vowels. And it is obvious to any casual observer that you are a contentious, legalistic, tedious militant papist — one who is in no way qualified to pass judgment upon my walk in the Spirit.
I believe this conversation has reached the end of its productive period, and I declare it finished. Ta-ta, papist. Have a nice day.
If that were true you would know and understand the etymology of the transliterated word "Allah" as well as its Hebrew and Aramaic cousins. It would make the error deliberate.
And it is obvious to any casual observer that you are a contentious, legalistic, tedious militant papist one who is in no way qualified to pass judgment upon my walk in the Spirit.
Your walk, by your language, is on parade for the whole world to judge, so to speak.
I believe this conversation has reached the end of its productive period, and I declare it finished. Ta-ta, papist.
Again you have not identified the denomination or sect you regularly assemble with, if you even do, while throwing out a perjorative.
Have a nice day.
Oh, the irony.
bkmk
Neither news nor relevant.
It is not news that you think my statement untrue.
The word you used was “bogus.”
Writing as a Catholic I was reminding Catholics (”we Catholics”)of the last “mystery” of the Rosary and its dependence on the ultimate sovereignty and benevolence of God (who makes the blessed kings and priests.) And that was an introduction to the idea of confidence as a gift and a duty.
Then you said:
I think it is bogus news in itself that Mary is Queen of heaven, of all that is.
I replied that that was not news — because I already had the idea that you didn't embrace Catholic thought — and not relevant — because my remark was addressed to Catholics.
If you want to discuss the idea of the Queenship of Mary, that does not oblige me to discuss it with you.
And I'm not sure of any good to be gained by such a conversation, even if it were closely relevant to Thompson's article.
The question is so far "downstream." As I see it, we'd have to come to terms on the Incarnation and the Atonement. And before we did that, we'd have to come to terms on things like Scripture, reason, authority, and whether and how we can make predications of God at all.
The years of logomachy on the Religion Forum really highlighted these questions for me. If I were to generalize, I would say that the differences cluster around disagreements about reason itself (and therefore about human nature, fallen and unfallen) and differences about what Christ accomplished in his "work," from, as you might say, Annunciation to Pentecost.
Every zillion post thread, when you clear away the dross -- of which there is plenty -- comes down to that. The Solas, the support (or lack of it) for TULIP, and the occasional frank rebuff of reason itself ... all seem to me to come down to those questions. So arguing about the Queenship (or not) of Mary would be a huge waste of time. But this and a conversation I had Thursday have decided me: I'm going to go through the first questions of the Summa again.
We need to get these folks into Christian Churches...or actually going to Church does not even save you, we need these fol;ks to ask Jesus into Their life directly, we need them to Thank Jesus for dying on the Cross for their sins, we need them reading their New Testaments.
The Catholic Charismatic Movement is more on target though they still are too wrapped up in Catholicism
Get rid of the funny outfits and the shaking of canisters whatever
